Wow...I keep trying to get it right with this location and the company in general. I live close and work weird hours so I find myself eating from here more than I should. I don't want to be negative because it's not really about the employees...it's the owner/ manager and even more pointedly, the corporation, stockholders the brand affiliates..My brother-in -law managed about 13 stores in Florida, so I care a bit about the brand cause it's connected to my family. At the St Joe's City Ave location the employees are stressed out and are NOT happy to be working there. There is a bit of turnover cause I rarely see the same faces on repeat visits. I have always eaten the food I paid for there and never got sick.It generally tastes good. This issues I have are: Bad owner manager customer service training efforts. Grey skies aura enveloping the store. Order accuracy- Orders usually not right. Fried chicken breast instead of grilled, no bacon on bacon sandwich. Missing items, wrong drink and tea is always sweet even if you order unsweet. undercooked fries, no napkins in bag and again the poor unhappy staff are like deer in headlights regarding customer service skills. The online ordering process is dysfunctional. Employees seem surprised when you tell them you ordered and paid online in store or the drive thru. Order is never ready but the app makes no promises and has poor communication regarding the status of order. Try looking at WAWA or even McDonalds apps for better examples. This store oddly does not give receipts. You should always ask for one and keep them for your Wendy's I love MOM journal. Dang...things really could be great at this store if a person with power in the company gave a shit about people. Clever of them not to give receipts so that you can't provide the internal review to Wendy's. So, to Yelp I go. They never have bottled water, they randomly upcharge you saying that it's "standard policy" unless you request to only get the items as ordered, and despite agreeing to give an unsweetened iced tea, it will 100% of the time be sweetened. Occasionally, the food is decent, but often it's stale or old-seeming. There's another Wendy's a couple miles away at 77th and City, and that one is significantly better. read more

Obviously the owners don't care about how their store's customer service is because they've been consistently bad for years & nothings changed. Horrible service. I don't even have enough energy & big enough vocabulary to express how bad this Wendy's is. You have to wait for about 10 minutes just to reach the speaker to order, then when you do order, you're being rushed to get done with saying your order. The girl taking the money was on the phone (which could potentially be a security situation in regards to customer credit cards. Idk what she's telling the other person on the phone) & she was ignorant. Then when we finally get to the window for our food, I asked for a Diet Coke.. they give me one. Mixed with orange soda because they messed up & didn't wanna empty out the dang cup! SMH. The food was cold & old (the usual) & I threw out 90% of it. If I could give Zero stars I would. This review is way overdue. The single worst fast food location I have ever experienced. The wait can extend to 25-30 minutes on almost every visit, the orders are wrong 90% of the time, the staff is rude beyond belief. While I certainly don't expect Four Seasons' service at a Wendy's, I would settle for just the bare minimum of decent service; which this location seems unable to provide. That place is ghetto as ever! Went there just to get a simple meal and they accidentally handed our food over to the people in front of us. Those customers clearly went through the bag and realized that it wasn't their food and handed it back. Once we got to the window, they tried to hand us over the same bag of food, but I asked for fresh fries since they're not wrapped/contained, and no telling what the people in front of us were doing(if their hands were clean). Fresh fries sounds like no big deal right? WRONG! The guy at the register tried to lie and say that they didn't get the returned bag of, but we clearly just saw them do it on top of that had a nasty attitude, so I simply asked for my money back. Loving the '1 star is too much' solidarity for this Wendy's location. The staff is fine but at the end of the day everything comes back to that manager and wow does she SUCK lol. Everything was messed up with our order from them accidentally cancelling it after we paid to getting the wrong items - not the right items made wrong, just random different items - and having to wait for 30 minutes just to have them F up everything. Manager barked at me about how it's "not her fault" the order is wrong and you have to go thru the 30 minute drive thru again if you want a refund or for them to try again to get it right lol. This review is long overdue. With the exception of ONE cashier here, who as far as I know has worked here for YEARS, the staff here is RUDE!!!!! OK, first let me acknowledge this nice woman who usually works at the FIRST WINDOW at Wendy's. She's so friendly and upbeat, always has conversation for you, and somehow she always has my change ready for me BEFORE I even pay her!!! How she anticipates what I'm going to pay her with, I'll never know, but she always has my EXACT change in her hand before I give my money to her. That woman is AMAZING!! Now on to the rest of the staff here. One of the managers is a downright a-hole for no reason. The last time we were there, she was really pissed off because I was ordering in the drive-thru from the PASSENGER SEAT. She goes into this long spiel about how the drive thru mic/speaker is only meant to to pick up the voice of the driver and blah, blah, blah... Basically, she was telling me to SHUT UP and let my bf do the talking. OK genius, and how would he know what I want unless I tell him? Dummy! Her tone was really rude too. I was just on the verge of putting her in her place, when my bf reminded me this woman was probably mad because she had to work at a dead-end job all day, while WE, on the other hand, were on our way to the beach!!! 45+ minutes, and 3 visits to the drive-thru window to finally get what I paid for. Ordered carry out on the app, only to find all the doors locked and be forced into the drive-thru. 30 minutes later, they give me "my food" without a single word spoken. Wasn't until I pulled onto City Ave that I realized it was the wrong food. I ordered a large baconater combo, with a lemonade. They gave me a medium plain chicken sandwich combo, with a coke. It'd been so long I'd forgotten I hadn't gotten a coke this time. Turn around, walk back to window, and they give me "my food". Still no apologies. No nothing. Get to the car, open the bag, and now I've got a Dave's single! WTF?!? Go back AGAIN. You'd think they'd be apologetic. Nope. I got the window closed on me. FINALLY got the food I'd paid for nearly an hour ago. Called CS, and, after an hour on hold, was promised a refund. Didn't get that until I had to call a second time, and wait another hour on hold. Ever since I moved to Philadelphia, I had periodically visited this location because it is a convenient distance from where I live. My previous visit, I ordered the single with cheese combo and the lettuce put on my sandwich was from the bottom of the lettuce head. And the beef patty looked like it was reheated instead of freshly cooked. That time, it was during the 6:00 PM hour when you would think it would be busy and the kitchen staff would be making completely fresh food for the customers. Yesterday, I walked nearly 2 miles to not get a meal, but a large chocolate Frosty. You read that right, just a Frosty. Nothing else. If I wasn't hungry, I would definitely want that. This time, it was after 5:00 PM and there were 3 tables occupied by customers. Obviously not that busy. So here is where I agree with many other reviews. The service here is ridiculously slow for a fast food restaurant. I'm a patient person and understanding when it is busy and you need to wait a bit longer for your food. Here is where without question I got really pissed off. There were four customers standing nowhere near the cash register and actually BEHIND the floor sign advertising one of their new sandwiches. Obviously looked to me like they weren't ordering food, appearing to even be waiting as if they already ordered. And they looked to not be in the way of those who had not like me. The one person that was running the cash register was hardly even paying attention to the customers standing where they were. I glanced over and they said nothing. Only when I walked right up to the register did that Wendy's employee say the line was "over there". Seriously, what line?! There wasn't one. In all my other visits to this Wendy's, people would come up to the register and stand in line. After she (I don't remember her name) said so, obviously I stood "behind" all of them before two college girls finally ordered. When it finally got to be my turn, that same employee completely ignored me as she was QUITE slowly filling drinks, then even after giving them to one of the customers that were ahead of me in "the line", she walked away from the register area with no acknowledgment that was still waiting to order my Frosty. At that very moment, that is where I had enough and walked out. I was livid I walked all that way to get a Frosty and that was the kind of service you get. UNACCEPTABLE. Then I see why there weren't many customers in the dining area. Obviously one can see why there has been a "we're hiring" sign for months at this Wendy's, located directly across City Avenue from St. Joseph's University. Would you want to work at a fast food place where the workers don't give a damn about their customers? My advice? DO NOT go to this Wendy's. I will never again. I would rather drive to the newer Lancaster Avenue one or the just opened one near Roxborough Memorial Hospital. Absolutely not worth your time even with the disorganized layout of how people don't enter the drive-thru properly without blocking other cars that want to access the parking spots in front of the building. You want a good burger that is not far from this Wendy's? Go to Five Guys in the Bala Cynwyd Shopping Center. Why? Because even when it is busy, the staff is friendlier, work efficiently and deliver the product. Absolutely worth the higher cost of the food. read more

This has got to be my worst experience coming to this location. I ordered a nugget meal around 8:55pm, I paid and was told to drive down a little further, I'm assuming because it wasn't ready. I called the store at 8:09pm to let them know I was still outside waiting for my meal and I was informed that someone would be bringing it out soon. Fast forward to 8:34pm, I was still in the car with no food. So I called again to ask if they could just bring my money to me instead of the food and still had to wait 5 mins for that. Wow, I used to love going there to eat before they were remodeled. Now? I don't have a clue what happened. My biggest pet peeve above food quality is customer service. My friends and I are standing there waiting to be served and the cashier says go ahead and give me your order. She is nowhere near the register doing tasks on the food order line. I had to repeat my order twice and the guy behind me was 3 - 4 times. I lost count. Went to this location and ordered via mobile app. Worst mistake ever! As I waited for my order,I observed the cashier ring up 3-4 other customers. Once finished, she came over with visibly dirty and holy gloves and begin to prepare an order, MY ORDER! I quietly yet politely gestured for her to come here and asked her to changed her gloves and wash her hands after handling cash. I swear I can't make this up! The girl looks at me as if I offended her, rolls her eyes, and says "these customers get on my nerves" to another worker behind her. I WAS BAFFLED!! As were the customers behind me!! At this point I request a manger who shared the same energy as the cashier. I ask for a refund which I was told to "get it off the app" by the manager. Problem is, you can't get in touch with anyone on the app or request a refund once the store accepts your order. Because the food was for my kids who looked for ward to this Wendy's treat since the beginning of that week, I went to another location ordering duplicate items. I paid for my order TWICE with no refund on the original order. That was almost 2 weeks ago and I STILL have yet to get refunded and I'm in the process of going through corporate to resolve the issue. POOR HAND HYGIENE IN THE MIDST OF A PANDEMIC!?! No thanks! Worst Wendy's/ fast food place I have ever been in my life. Not only is your order ALWAYS incorrect or completely someone else's order, but on top of that the line is always extremely long, and the wait for someone to speak once you reach the menu takes atleast 7 minutes Every time. You wait an extremely long time Every time just to get the wrong order, another customers order, cold food, and impolite employees. On top of all of this, they do not even accept apple pay. I went to this Wendy's waited 20 minutes as usual then they told me at the second to last window they can not get the machine to read apple pay so I won't be able to get my food. I waited 20 minutes just because this Wendy's is so incompetent and mediocre their apple pay option doesn't even work on their cash registers. In addition, there was an instance when I came to get my order remade because it was the wrong order the last time I came. In the midst of me speaking to the manager I told her what my order was and showed her the receipt. She then responded in a completely rude manner by accusing me of lying and trying to simply get a free order. This is probably the slowest Wendy's I have ever been to. Every time I come here I feel like there are only two people working in the whole restaurant. I have to schedule a long lunch break if I want to eat something. The employees also have no idea what they are doing because they always have to ask each other what they have to do once they get a payment! I could be the only one in the line, and ask for something simple like fries and I could wait about 15 minutes. Once my food comes it always gets messed up. Either they forget to put something in the bag or they make the meal wrong. One time I ordered a Sprite and they served it to me, but the Sprite was brown. The employees put up a fight with me when I asked if I could get a soda that is the color that it is supposed to be. The food is regular Wendy's food, nothing spectacular.
