The room was quite dated and the bathroom shower quite inadequate. He did enjoy breakfast. OK. Now my bit. I joined him in the evening for dinner, and I have to say that the meals were homely, and good value for money, with the exception of perhaps the starter I had, although I did enjoy. I had their seafood platter which was about £8 for my starter. For my main I had the gammon with both egg and pineapple (a reasonable price as I recall). The latter wasn't out of a tin. Unfortunately, the menus on their site weren't the ones that we had before us, so difficult to check the prices. So the food was everything I wanted it to be. You can eat in either the bar or, the otherside, in the restaurant. I couldn't see much difference, other than the fact that no one was in the restaurant!!! :-) Locals in the bar created a bit of banter, which I always enjoy. So a good place to eat, but perhaps not best for accommodation. Also, some nice ales to sample.

When I booked my taxi, the woman was attentive, lovely customer service, took my name, the…read morepostcodes, the standard things. The taxi was booked at 12.30, the standard wedding carriage time, and I was told a predicted cost for the 8-10 minute journey. At twenty past twelve, a grumpy taxi driver strode into the private wedding party announcing my name and his displeasure at having to wait for us, looking me up and down- he'd arrived fifteeen minutes early, and been waiting for five. I wasn't letting it. Put a sour end on the night, and said my goodbyes instead of having a good dance to nsync. Crank drove away in a strop, "you just want dropping off in halfway house", no, sorry, I provided the postcode to the cottage where we're staying, "well I don't have it, do you want dropping off at halfway house". Maps on phones in the back we had to direct him, where he complained about the lanes and then charged us for turning around the car, the total higher than I was told on the phone. He was quite the sourpuss, and I was very grateful that as a non-local, I'm not going to have to deal with him again. Personally, I'd go with another company.
