Some things were salty, but overall the food tastes good and all plates were cleaned (one child's portion we had to ask for a carry-out box). The portions are large and prices fair. The Klausenhof is situated below the "famous" Hanstein Castle which is 800 years old this year. The inn is owned by Manuela and Klaus Röhrig who have worked very, very hard. My parents live in Neu-Eichenberg. This is where I was brought up, too. Before the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989 I could always see the Hanstein Castle. In the early nineties I got to know the Klausenhof. I used to eat grandmother's soup there very often which was barley soup. Ground pork meat (Gehaktes) - fresh with onions on fresh crusty bread is delicious there, too. I like drinking elderflower juice when I go there or elderflower wine or their own brewed beer. In 2007 the Klausenhof has won an award for the best regional cuisine and traditional cuisine in Thuringia, quite an achievement. I take visitors here who come from all parts of Germany, England and Wales. You can stay there overnight. Sitting outside in the spring and summer is also an experience!
