Jared and his crew are knowledgeable - and polite, too - which is always a bonus. Diagnoses are accurate and work is done quickly and very well. Car problems (or just routine maintenance) are somewhat akin to going to the dentist: nothing that anyone looks forward to. But in the case of Brand, I'm always happy to get problems solved, and never hesitate to pick up the phone to see how soon my car(s) may been seen - which is usually VERY soon. It is only first come first serve. Two stars for work done correctly. Just to be clear this experience was a while back. My vehicle would not start and I called to make sure it would be ok to have AAA tow it to his shop for service, which he approved. I waited all day and when I didn't hear back I called to check if they found out what the issue was. They let me know the work had been done hours ago and it was ready to pick up. I asked what it was and they said that one of the spark plugs and coil packs had failed and they went ahead and replaced all of them since it was only a matter of time before the others failed. I asked what the damage was and it was more than I expected. When I came to pick it up I asked if this was the normal price for the work as generally speaking replacing spark plugs and coil packs is not that difficult. He explained that this vehicle was notorious for stripped threads and they didn't even like to do them. It came across as if I was lucky they even did the work. I asked him what the typical range was and he said it varied and gave me a low and high range and explained what it took to fix it if the threads got damaged. The final price was on the higher end of that scale. I asked who did the work so I could thank them and when I talked to the tech I asked how the job went and asked if he ran into any problems. He said that it went smoothly and about as good as he could hope for. I know I could have contacted BAR and made a complaint but I just filed it under live and learn and crossed this shop off my list. My concerns and why I will not go back for service. 1. Never given a quote - not legal in state of California 2. Not contacted when work was finished 3. Was told price was variable depending on difficulty of work performed. Found out that job went smoothly but I was still charged as if they ran into additional problems. 4. Can't make appointments
