Without getting into specifics, both were genuinely poor- the kind of operations that experienced parents recognize as problematic within the first few weeks. We kept looking & walking into Stepping Stones, the contrast was immediate and remarkable. A few things set them apart: They run it like a real business. Staff is properly vetted, consistently scheduled, and experienced. We've never been told a teacher had to call off or that the day was going to be improvised based on # of kids that day. Predictability in staffing levels matters enormously when you're trusting someone with your kids and you only fully appreciate how critical it is once you've seen the alternative. The facility is genuinely great. Strong indoor classrooms and a well-thought-out outdoor space. It's a place really built for kids, not a converted afterthought in an office building or a strip mall. The teachers actually know what they're doing. They are experienced caregivers who handle situations the way a seasoned parent would- calm, thoughtful, practical- rather than someone fresh out of a single child development class and improvising on the fly. They're sincerely kind to the kids. You cannot fake this, and you can see it instantly in how the children interact with their teachers. Our twins are comfortable, engaged, and happy. They love going to school. They've seen every kind of family. This one matters more than people realize. Stepping Stones has clear understanding and experience with the full range of modern family situations; foster placements, kinship guardianships, single-parent households, blended families, and all the moving parts those arrangements bring with them. They handle each situation with the same grace; No awkwardness, no extra questions, no treating any setup as a special case. Just good care for whichever kid is standing in front of them. Predictability, accountability, professionalism, and real warmth. That's what Stepping Stones has, and they show it consistently. Take the time to tour it. If you have any frame of reference at all, you'll see the difference within the first ten minutes.

After visiting several facilities that felt either too rigid, too disorganized, or unfriendly, walking into Stepping Stones was a breath of fresh air. From the start, every single staff member made us feel welcomed. The facility itself is fantastic--large classrooms, an expansive outdoor area, and a dedicated indoor gym that ensures the kids get to move even when the weather is bad. One of the most telling signs for me was noticing that the majority of the staff choose to enroll their own children here; that spoke volumes. The Director, Lauren Z., is remarkably kind and supportive. It's clear that the teachers truly know and care for every student, treating the children as if they were their own. My daughter is constantly engaged in great activities, and for the first time, I feel completely at ease while she's in someone else's care. If I could give them 10 stars, I would!

Woodland Hills School…read moreDistrict has in previous years tackled some of the most difficult Broadway musicals to produce on a high school stage. Among these previous musicals include "Phantom of the Opera" and "Sweeney Todd." My girlfriend and I went to see this production and believe me they not only nailed it to perfection but added some recent events into the action. For example, when they were announcing the winner of who found the grail they opened the envelope and read "La La Land" It was a cute throwback to the Academy Awards goof. This musical had us laughing like there was no tomorrow. The set design, costumes, ensemble were spot on. We sat directly in front of the orchestra which belted out the tunes with a solid dexterity. We were even amazed that they could replicate the videos used on the curtains during intermission and the ending. Spamalot is loosely based on Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It won the 2004 Tony award for best musical and has been seen on occasion at Pittsburgh CLO summer series. This was the first time I ever saw it done in a high school. Strobe lights, gunshot noises, ice steam were all part of the special effects. I read in the program that to recreate the period all of the costumes had to be made by hand. Woodland Hills High School has won some of the Gene Kelly awards for excellence in musical theater with some of their past productions. They have been nominated again this year for Spamalot. Also what's great is that it is so reasonable to see an outstanding musical at a very inexpensive price. I will be anxious to see what they choose next year because they certainly will be on my return list for musical theater.

Went to watch my sweetie run around the track at Mt. Lebanon HS. It's astroturf or whatever they…read morecall the rubbery stuff. It was very hot, because it's kind of in a hole & the rubber radiates the heat like crazy! They're doing some major construction on the HS, so some of the entrances are blocked off, but you can get in from the back park entrance. The park next door is very nice & shaded & a good place to escape the heat.
