Decent little park that hasn't ever been crowded when I've visited. Nice playground with a barrier…read morenot easily climbed by little ones that might head toward the creek in close proximity. Shaded pavilion with picnic tables over a little walking bridge. While not pristine concerning the muddy floor or sink full of grass and dirt, the ladies' room had a clean flushing toilet and not an outhouse type hole. It was stocked with tp, soap, and paper towels. The faucet is one you have to hold down with one hand to use. While understandable so that running water isn't left on, it doesn't give me a sanitary feeling touching it. The door locks but has a good one or two inch open gap that would make me uneasy if alone. I don't care for hand dryers, but it had one of those if you're so inclined to use it and coat your hands with bacteria. I can usually see kids playing football or basketball on the grounds as well as people walking in the wooded areas, some of which is hilly. At least one hill has a cement stairway. I would avoid the small driving bridge that goes over the creek to the pavilion as it doesn't give sturdy vibes. Some trimming is needed near the entrance to better see oncoming traffic while exiting. While it isn't the nicest or most exciting park I've seen, it's not bad. There is a quieter side as well where you can drive, park, and observe the squirrels for entertainment. It seems like a lot of picnic tables in that area have been removed, but it has places to pull off and park as well as convenient garbage cans. The parks in Peru are sometimes the only thing to do around here.

There is a basketball court, a next door disc golf course (at the top of the hill), and in winter, I can imagine one sensational sled ride down the open side of the hill. There is plenty of parking and a permanent restroom facility. There is a creek bed that is bridged to allow passage during the rainy months. It appeared that there was some maintenance work being done on the grounds (drainage?) while there, so it seems that the park is being taken care of. Highland Park is a huge community park in Kokomo with lots of green space, recreational spaces and…read morea historic covered bridge. What I like best about the park are the mature trees that provide lots of shade. Some of the trees are over 400 years old. There is a huge colorful playground with climbing structures, swings and slides. The base is a mix of mulch and soft matting. Benches line the area for parents to sit and watch kids . (The equipment could use a good cleaning from the trees.) There are two ball diamonds with bleachers within the park. A beautiful stream that meanders through the park attracts fisherman. Tree-covered picnic areas are scattered along the creek. The Vermont Covered Bridge spans the creek and is open to pedestrian traffic. There are restroom facilities near the playground. There are several parking areas throughout the park and you can drive along the creek. Highland Park is a great place to bring the family.

This is a large park in Kokomo that truly has something for everyone. There is parking right next to these attractions and easy access for those who need it. They were both behind glass so the glare made it hard to see both, but they were amusing. Right next to the display was a playground suitable for all ages. The slide is a bit high, and it seemed old, but in good condition. There are also covered picnic tables in the area. Down the ways a bit in the park is a red covered bridge that was fun to walk through and take some photos with. Lastly, there is a large pavilion stage area what was having an orchestra concert, free to attend, and the audience was partially shaded with some picnic tables in the back as well.

This park was a great place to get out and go for a walk. The sidewalk is oversized with plenty of…read moreroom for people to pass or go on opposing directions. On our walk we headed up a long winding sidewalk for a mile. We still hadn't reached the end before turning around and heading back. There were so many adorable dogs on the visit. The only downsides are, and this is comparing it to the 1980s..., is that there are many more people here, PAVED trails (not a fan), and the signs say that we can no longer explore off the trails... kind of a let down, but I understand.

The park is a little too big. You can lose your child really easily if you take your eyes off then, be careful, the giant slide has a bunch of sand and is easy to slip in the back by the giant hill. There's the blueberry vegetable and the added the new part in the back, which is really nice for the little kids that don't wanna be by the older kids way easier to watch your kids in the bath and you do not want to lose your kids in the back. There is a zip line which is a little scary cause it seems to fling you and you might wanna hold onto your kids because it flings them if they are really light

Upland was believed to be the highest point between Chicago and Columbus so a depot was erected here. The park has a curved wall that has plaques with information about Upland. There is also a gazebo on the west end, a caboose in the middle, and a wooden play train large enough for smaller kids to play in. Unfortunately, the depot and caboose don't allow visitors to go inside. That would be cool if they could be restored and allow tours at certain times. Review #2550

When I arrived at the park, I was surprised that there was so much to look at. It's not like most…read moreparks. This one has a pioneer village with log cabins, a museum (which was closed for a private event during my visit), and canal boat rides. The village is open to walk through and includes the Case Reed House which was moved from downtown to this site around 1986. The house was converted to a hotel for travelers after being a private residence. The canal boats are colorful and provide guided tours for those who wish to take the trip. I didn't have time to go on the ride, so I can't say how much it costs or how often the rides leave the dock. There is also a trail that runs through the park along the canal. This is a nice piece of local history from an era when Indiana thought it could be a navigable transportation area with the help of canals. Review #2792

Lots of park benches and trails to explore. One of the highlights is a boat converted to playground. You'll get a treat if you happen to go during Canal Days, which happens one summer weekend a year.

There is a climbing structure that was built in 2004 and a swing set, a baseball field and 4 new pickle ball courts. Mulch serves as the base around the climbing structure. There is also a second smaller climbing structure for toddlers. A large pavilion with picnic tables stands near the playground. A set of restrooms as part of a small building is also available in the park. The park could use some benches around the playground for caregivers and a paved trail to walk the dog or take a stroll would be nice. Pickle ball looks first come, first serve. I'm not an expert, but there are no fences between the 4 pickle ball courts so you could get hit by a flying ball from someone else's court. The grounds are well maintained with nice mature trees. There is plenty of parking.

The park has a restroom facility and nice large picnic shelter with picnic tables under it. There are 2 unlighted baseball diamonds that are in dire need of some TLC. There is a decent paved basketball court that has recently been repaved. Next to the court is a wide-open black top. The park's play ground was added in 2004 and has a glider swing where parents can sit and watch their little ones. It is on a bed of wood chips and its equipment includes monkey rings, a large jungle gym with a climbing net, parallel bars, bridges, a tunnel slide, a spiral slide and a traditional slide. There is also a bank of traditional swings, a bank of toddler swings, and a standing see-saw. You will find a small jungle gym for little kids that is made of plastic and has a few slides. There is a bench on the perimeter of that area that parents can sit and get a breather while their littles play. There are a few decent pockets of green space that can be used to play catch, fly a kite, or have a football game or soccer match. This is a nice park and is the only one in the town. The shelter can be rented for events. It does not reach the threshold of a destination park, but is a nice place to come and hang out, while the littles one play, if you are in the area.
