This store has unique baby items and is geared mostly for 3 and under. There are items such as bunk beds for older kids but quality and pricing of items is comparable to Babies R Us and Sears if not this place is overpriced. Staff is hit and miss with their service. Friendly at times but not helpful and condescending to fathers. Oh well don't come here often as I am not a fan of the service and layout is confusing. Worth to check out once but not to buy large furniture items. Stick with Babies R Us or IKEA. read more

This is the childrens goods store for all those Starbucks moms out there. If you start your day with a 25 syllable drink and hop in your Escalade to drop your kids off at private school, this is where you need to go for cribs, carriers, decor, and furniture. The staff were very nice and the products were of high quality but holy smokes are the prices high. This is more competition for Bo Bebe than Toys R Us. read more

Went in to pick up a pair of shoes for my son it was quick and I went in right at opening on a Sunday so they weren't to busy but the staff was quick to help me get the size I needed I think the prices are high but if you are in the market for some thing not a basic brand they have the selection of trendy fad products so it's a good store for that read more

This place is actually called West Coast Kids, a division of E-Children. Advertisements say that they carry items for kids of all ages, including teenagers. I didn't see any items appropriate for teens in this store with the exception of some bedroom decor, and that would likely be for younger teens. I'm not a mom so I don't need anything from here, but it's a great place to shop for one-off items for the odd baby shower or small children in my life that I may want to treat or spoil. The bedroom decor, a few hip clothing items and cute dishes and utensils are what caught my eye. I chose to purchase a pacifier pod (never knew such a thing existed) from the discount section. Most of the sale items were10-20% off on average. Shopping here was a nice change of pace but felt that the staff didn't have a very warm vibe. This store is actually called "West Cost Kids". First off, the selection and unique items at this store are wonderful. There are many things here that you will not find anywhere else save for an exhaustive online search. However, it is price-prohibitive and the service lacking. Unfortunately, for all the great selection, I cannot justify the kinds of prices they demand for everyday items that will be used a year or less, be barfed on and eventually go into a giveaway bag. As well, the staff seemed less-than-willing to help and we were largely ignored for most of our visit. I would recommend West Coast kids for items that deserve a higher price point, like good safety equipment, breast pumps or complicated, brand-name travel tools like strollers, but would be remiss to recommend them for everyday items like clothing, bedding, towels, toys, decor or even cribs and chairs - which are available in great quantity at far more reasonable cost elsewhere. Go to West Coast kids to get ideas for your nursery decor or to buy a stroller, but that's it. T. read more

If there were zero stars, I'd give that. They are so rude and unwelcoming, particularly if you have little kids. No where for kids to play and often telling them not to touch the endless number of displays. The real kicker was when I tried to return a pair of shoes. After we got them my son wore them around the house for an afternoon to test them but decided they hurt his feet. I was told they could not accept the return as they could not resell them. Bullsh*t! They were pristine and purchased 2 days earlier but I admitted he wore them around the house so they refused. It's a kids store that hates kids and families. read more

Unfortunately I need to share my experience. I set up my registry through west coast kids and then bought our stroller and high end crib from them. Recently, my girlfriend did the same thing and was advised that if she bought her stroller after setting up a gift registry she would receive 20% off the remaining items on her registry. No one advised me of this and I paid full price for multiple items following my shower. I brought this to managements attention, as no one asked if we had a registry set up when purchasing our Uppababy Vista stroller but they were not willing to refund or give a store credit for the difference. read more

Wow. I have never had such BAD customer service anywhere in Calgary! First of all, as soon as you walk in there is a very loud, high-pitched beep (possibly related to front door opening or a security system) and it goes off every minute or two. This instantly gets annoying as you are shopping. If you or your partner are feeling a little stressed at all - this beep will make it way worse... and this is less than ideal considering the majority of their clients are already hormonal pregnant women. Secondly, 3 different *older women (*my point being that these are not teens and should know better) followed me around asking questions despite clearly stating that I was just browsing and will ask for help when needed. I guess that was a mistake because as soon as I actually needed help - everyone had disappeared!! Now here is my BAD experience... I wanted one of their floor model rocking chairs. They refused to sell a floor model for any price. Ok. So I ordered a custom rocking chair 2 months before my baby was due. They said it would take 6 weeks which was cutting it really close to my due-date but after thinking about it overnight, I called with my credit card and paid over the phone the next day. This chair was over $1000 by the time all the "hidden costs" added up and it went through on my visa right away. A few weeks later - I checked on the status of my chair... no record of my purchase. They said the computers had been down that day but after pushing for it, they eventually they found the paper receipt. Then they said it could take 12 more weeks to arrive. This did not make a very pregnant woman happy. This went on for weeks and no one could give an exact date nor could they explain why someone else got a chair like mine earlier than me. They said that it always takes 10-12 weeks for this type of chair and that no one would have told me otherwise! Why would I have ordered a nursing/rocking chair that I knew was not going to be ready until months after my baby was due? That makes no sense. Anyway, it finally did arrive after my baby had already been born and someone left a message that I needed to pick it up "as soon as possible" and no, delivery was not an option. This was not easy with a newborn. When my husband picked it up - no one was around to help him - so he had to load it into his truck all on his own!! This is the short version of the story! There were too many unbelievable and annoying things to write about!! I will never return or recommend this store... and I'm typically a pretty understanding customer!! read more

I usually write my reviews when I am enraged by the service so thought I'd write a positive one! I agree e-children is pretty high end and therefore quite expensive but after learning as my son has grown what sort of items I wanted to buy for the long term, e-children (or West Coast Kids) usually sells what I'm needing. And the prices have been competitive with Toys r Us and other stores of that nature. In fact my BOB revolution stroller was $20 cheaper and the customer service better than MEC and I would've had to order online from Toys r Us. I also agree that some items seem to not be in stock which is a bit dull. Might be tough to maintain specialty items though so not sure how much is a manufacturer issue and how much poor ordering system. Phil and Ted's seems to be perpetually out of stock when i wanted the Lobster chair (although did get from their store in Edmonton but I had to go there to get it - no links between store or online) and the travel cot was low on stock so had no colour choice. The store is a bit cramped and staff hit and miss. I found the Edmonton store much nicer but staff a bit snarly. read more

Good product, but the service is horrible. Everything takes 8 to 12 weeks if it's not in the store as they don't carry inventory. Oh, thanks for selling our rocking chair that we bought and was planning on having it delivered. I'm sure you got awesome margins on that chair you sold twice. To date, still no rocking chair. No call back. I'm going to go to BBB and raise a royal stink if I don't hear back from you in a week. read more

This is a preliminary review so ignore the 1 star for now...although I don't get the feeling this is going to end well. I am about to purchase over $4,000 worth of stuff and am doing so over boxing week in order to get their 10% discount. Given the size of the order I have asked both bo bebe and e children for their best price (looking for better than each of their respective 10% discounts). Bo bebe obliged and offered 15% and e-children has so far treated me like a second class citizen by not returning my phone calls despite leaving 3 messages and telling me they will work on price only to have the manager hand the issue off to the assistant manager who called to give me even more of a run around. I understand its busy over boxing week and I will give them the benefit of the doubt for another 24 hours...hopefully their will be a happy ending - either way I will let you know. read more

We have consistently received excellent customer service from e-Children/Westcoast Kids in Calgary. The staff are knowledgable and extremely helpful. They were able to effectively assess our needs and recommend products that would work best for us. We purchased our stroller, carseat and other items from the Calgary location following several conversations and hands-on product demonstrations by store staff. In addition, store staff demonstrated a willingness to answer questions and address concerns regarding their products. For example, the Valco stroller we purchased from the Calgary location in March was a returned item and did not include a bumper bar. Unfortunately we didn't discover this until the end of October. When I shared this dilemma with store staff, they showed dedication to resolving the situation. The attendant I was dealing with even called to get my address so that Valco could ship the bumper bar directly to my house. I really appreciated this extra convenience. Overall we have been very impressed with the staff and the products at e-Children/Westcoast Kids in Calgary and will continue to visit this store for future purchases. read more

Westcoast Kids aka E-children has some of the better high end baby stuff in town. As a result you will probably have to buy some stuff from them in spite of their legendary and consistently TERRIBLE customer service- that is- IF you can find someone to deign to help you, you'll find them very unhelpful. read more

Great selection of strollers. Friendly and helpful staff. However the location is strange - limited parking in front (park in the back by the loading dock?) and extremely cluttered store. Would do well to have less inventory and present it better rather than jamming so much into the store that there is no room in aisles for strollers and everyone are climbing over each other in here when it is busy. read more

I realize after sharing my poor experiences at this store with my friends, that there is a large group of new Moms in the Calgary area that unfortunately feel the same way I do about this store....horrible! This location of E-Children is poorly organized - overwhelmingly so actually. Items are stacked high in every direction, the isles are challenging to navigate through, and products just spill out of everywhere. The staff, although usually friendly, are hard to locate for help, completely inefficient using the registers/computers at checkout, and useless at communication. However, perhaps the worst is their ordering system...they place orders on paper and have no tracking system, fail to notify customers of accurate ship dates, miscommunicate arrivals of goods, and are generally unhelpful :( I highly recommend you save yourself the headache and shop elsewhere, preferably online! read more

This review is for the online West Coast Kids site. I ordered a Skip Hop diaper bag (Bento model) from West Coast Kids' online site. The bag arrived relatively quickly and worked well... at first. After a few weeks of use, however, one of the zippers broke and the stitching started to come apart along the main zipper. I contacted West Coast Kids about the problem and was referred to Skip Hop directly as they were the ones to deal with with respect to warranty issues. I expected to be given the runaround by Skip Hop (as they are in the States), but was pleasantly surprised by their customer service department. All they asked me to provide was pictures of the defects and the bag's serial number, which is on a tag inside the bag. A replacement bag arrived within a couple of weeks along with Skip Hop's apologies. During this time a representative from West Coast Kids kept in touch with me to make sure I was being looked after by Skip Hop. Overall, I was quite impressed with how the situation was handled and have no doubt that West Coast Kids would have provided a replacement bag had Skip Hop not stepped up. Will definitely remain a happy customer of both businesses! read more

I was very disappointed with the service at E-Children (Calgary). While in search for a crib, I was told to wait "a few minutes" while they checked to see if the crib was in stock at their Winnipeg location. About 40 minutes later, it was up to me to find the salesclerk and follow-up. To add to my gripe - even though the crib was in stock in Winnipeg, I was told that I wouldn't be able to receive it in Calgary for another 6-12 weeks (???) Even though the Calgary location is one of four stores that make up Westcoast Kids, there is no computerized inventory system! The staff have to call their partner stores and wait for someone to check the storeroom! Is this 1950?!? Absolutely ridiculous for a store that carries so much inventory, and very inconvenient for the customer. As a result, many of the staff appear to be frazzled and disorganized. I ended up ordering online from Lussobaby in North Vancouver, BC and the crib was delivered to my doorstep in less than 1 week. The service was fantastic! Admittedly, E-Children does carry lovely baby furniture/gear. It's too bad that the staff don't seem to appreciate their customers' business, even when said customer is looking to spend $1500 on a crib! I will happily order online from an out-of-province competitor before returning! read more

Quality baby and children's furniture. Good selection of carseats and strollers. The downside is almost everything in the store needs to be ordered and it takes up to 4 months to arrive. There are two awkward steps from the parking lot to the door which I found challenging with a stroller. Staff are not very helpful. read more

THINK TWICE BEFORE ORDERING YOUR BABY FURNITURE. I ordered my furniture back in June and was told it would take a maximum of 12 weeks and I now have my baby and have been waiting 15 WEEKS! They won't return my phone calls, no refunds and i paid over $2500. They said it's not thier fault and refused to give me the number for the company making my furniture. they said it could still take a few more weeks and it is not in thier control and they will not take responsibility.DO NOT ORDER FURNITURE, if you want it in time for your baby. My baby is now 2 weeks old and I have been constantly phoning them to see what it happening and getting no answers.... read more

This store is well organized and it has everything you need for your kids. The products are very good quality. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Especially Karen, who is very knowledgeable for the products. She gave us valuable advice for the car seat and booster we bought. I highly recommend to families shopping gears for their little one. read more

E-Children pricing is very high, they benefit from being the only store in Calgary to sell many of the brands you are looking for, Bumble Ride etc. We recently purchased a Bumble Ride Indy Twin stroller, the retail was over $800 dollars. The only one they had in the color we wanted was the demo, after careful inspection we decided that the demo looked fine, other than the tires were flat. We asked if they could inflate the tires to which they replied no, that they were to busy. We asked for a pump to do it ourselves to which they the associate after some convincing went and found. We then proceed to pump each tire up in the store for the next half hour as we wanted to use the stroller at the zoo later that afternoon. When we finally got the tires pumped up we had to wait in line for another 15 min as the sales associate wasn't sure how to punch in the price for the demo. I got better customer support at Toys R Us when buying a cheap stroller to take to Disneyworld. Bottom line, is as more of these items become available on the internet for cheaper all this store has is convenience and customer support. With customer service lacking it will only be a matter of time before people wise up and start buying this stuff online. read more

With all of the competition for baby products out there, you're probably better off shopping elsewhere. They do carry a good selection of high-end items, but the staff are not helpful (if they even acknowledge you), and any big-ticket items take several months to come into the store. Also, beware their return policy, as they are very strict, and for items that need to be ordered in, you only have 10 days to return the item after the order is placed, not after you receive the item! read more

Nice stuff, but just too expensive. However the customer service is the real issue there. Tried to make an exchange there but didn't have a receipt any more... The lady treated me like I was a crook trying to run a scam or something, I just wanted a straight exchange for a different style of shoe, same brand and size, and was even willing to pay a restocking fee. Nope. Too rigid and snobby, and I was even dealing with the manager! Yikes. They need to be more accommodating and treat customers better. Not shopping there anymore. read more

It's unfortunate that this store is one of the few places in Calgary that sells many sought after, high end baby items. It seems people go here because they don't know where else to go to find the products they want. I have had numerous experiences at this store and the customer service is almost unfailingly atrocious. It's such a shame because they do carry some beautiful products. I am writing this review to let other moms know that Kacz Kids in Deerfoot Meadows has many of the same items carried by WCK but the service is infinitely better and the selection of everyday items (pacifiers, sleep sacks, clothing, shoes, feeding materials) is much, much better. There IS another option out there! Don't give your business to a store that has huge delays on orders, outlandish prices and poor customer service just because they seem to have a monopoly on the market. read more

The staff is down right rude to the point of insulting. If they do not carry a product they treat you like an idiot when you ask who else would. They are pushy, condescending and only push expensive merchandise (which can take up to 8 to 12 weeks for delivery). My wife and I will never go to that store again. read more

Staff are hit or miss on helpfulness. I found half were extremely friendly and helpful and others seemed to duck you to avoid being asked a question. All in all the store hasa fantastic selection of products. The definite downside is the ordering system. Everything takes 8-12 weeks and they seem to use an ancient paper-based filing system which is ureliable. I purchased several items from the store, had my orders mixed up and ended up making 6 trips to the store to get pieces of my stroller. I am in fact still waiting on the safety belts so that I can actually use it. Not happy considering the cost of the stroller was like a mortgage payment. read more

I made the mistake of coming to west coast kids to buy my baby furniture after i had been warned by a friend not to as they forgot to put in their order and it wasn't discovered until a week before baby was born. I had the worst experience from a customer service perspective. I would agree with other reviews that the staff are not very helpful. I would recommend against ordering furniture unless you are ordering at least 4 or 5 months before baby arrives, as they only guarantee a MINIMUM period of time for furniture to arrive, but provide no maximum. And good luck trying to find out when it will arrive if that minimum period has passed, the staff including management are unable to get that info, even though their area manager in Vancouver has that info, I had to hunt down the info myself because no one at the store returned my multiple calls, and when i did get someone on the phone the answer was they didn't know. When i indicated to the area manager, my frustration with the lack of assistance at this store, how she went about dealing with it was very unprofessional, she turned it into a he-said-she-said and vouched for the calgary store by saying that they never get complaints from that store, but that their other stores get the complaints, and trying to say that i took advantage of staff in their edmonton store because their staff made a mistake and didn't charge me to transfer items to their calgary store (because i should know their policies?? and i should offer to pay more than they are telling me i have to pay??). In the delivery of my furniture there continued to be mistakes made and the poor communication by the calgary store staff continued, it was almost laughable by the end of it all because it was so ridiculous. Overall, I would tell any parent to stay away from ordering anything from this store especially furniture if you don't want to be worrying if your baby has furniture before they arrive, expect to help yourself when you go to the store, and customer service for dealing with any issue that may arise is nonexistent. If ordering furniture, I would go to Cherry Four, as they have amazing product and even better customer service (more expensive yes, but it shows in the product and is worth it for the amazing customer service; according to the west coast area manager it's a boutique store, so they have time to provide good service, something that a larger store like west coast couldn't provide because they were too busy). Kac'z Kids had great selection also and staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, buyer beware of this store! I will not shop here again and would not recommend anyone I know shop there. read more

After driving an hour into Calgary to compare two travel cribs, I asked if I could set up the one model that wasn't on display, a Phil and Ted's Traveller. I was very politely told that I couldn't set up the travel crib because once the plastic packaging is off it people wouldn't want to buy it. Now, I understand that reselling damaged merchandise would be difficult. That is why I went and asked staff for help. However, there is no way that I am ever going to buy a product for a baby that is collapsible without ever seeing it out of the box and trying to put it together. This isn't a wooden crib that has to be screwed together. This is a crib specifically designed to be set up and taken down with ease. Portable, one could say, almost so you could travel with it. I very politely explained that to the salesperson. I said that I would be buying it tonight but wanted to see it first. I then asked if the manager was around. Not only did the manager not come speak to me, but I was again told that it couldn't be set up. Luckily, the service is so poor in that store that once the staff member left me I had 45 minutes to very carefully unwrap (and rewrap) the major components and have a good look at the product without one prying eye. When I did decide on a product and went to the till, the lady looked shocked and said she thought I left. I guess us 6'2" 250+lbs guys really blend in with the tiny baby supplies. Seemed to be a big selection though. Just go there knowing what you need and not expecting any service at all. read more

they have a huge selection of product, but the customer service is the worst i have ever experienced. anywhere. they have very little actually in stock, so anything larger than a carseat needs to be special ordered in- which takes anywhere from 4-15 weeks. after 18 weeks we STILL had not received our furniture and every communication update was only a result of us calling and pleading for more information. they never once called us with an update, and the never once apologized for the delay or inconvenience. i will not shop at or support any store that treats their customers as if they are expendable. i would much rather shop online then give money to people that are simply ungrateful. read more
