This is one of the cleanest electricity producing plants in the United States. Florida Power & Light operates the West County Energy Center in western Palm Beach County miles away from most housing developments and residences. The plant has three natural-gas-fired combined-cycle generators, each producing 1250 megawatts of electricity each, together powering approximately a quarter million homes and businesses. As near as I was able to tell, the plant does not offer tours and there's no access for civilians. A security gate prevents that. The photo I took is about as close as you can get without getting in trouble. Which is fine for me - the transmission lines from here bring me the electricity I need for daily life. I've been a customer of FP&L a number of times and even when I'm not a direct customer, I've spent time in South Florida and used their product often.
