Took my daughter here yesterday for her birthday. One of our favorite places to go Ordered soup and some apps I got the French onion soup which was horrible. Tasted like dishwater. I sent it back. However, everything else was spot on. My daughter had the chicken parm panini which she said was excellent. She took half of her sandwich home. She also got onion rings. Hot, thin and crispy and a cup of clam chowder which is always great and thick We shared the stuffed mushrooms which are always our go to. Served on a spread of lobster bisque I got the pork dumplings which were delicious. My grandson had the kids meal hotdog it was really big for a kids meal, served on a brioche bun I secretly asked for a lemon cake to celebrate their birthdays. Corey brought it out with a candle in it Corey was our server and he's been there for years. Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed with our experience tonight. Our bill was around $100, and unfortunately it was some of the worst food we've had in the area. We ordered steak tips medium rare and a chicken sandwich. The steak tips came out severely overcooked , burnt on the outside, tough, and hard as a hockey puck. The chicken sandwich seemed absolutely drenched in what tasted like Frank's RedHot or a similar hot sauce, completely overpowering everything else. What's frustrating is that we've eaten here before and had a great experience, which is why we came back. This visit felt completely different. I honestly wondered if there was a different chef in the kitchen. The service itself was okay, and to be clear, we weren't looking to make a scene or demand items be taken off the bill. However, most of the food was left on the plate, and nobody stopped by to ask if there was an issue or why it wasn't being eaten. I went out for a spontaneous dinner with a friend, and it was my first time at this restaurant. We were greeted and seated right away. Since it was a Thursday, the place was fairly empty. I was excited to see they had Saratoga water which is one of my favorites. For dinner, I had the blackened salmon with asparagus and mashed potatoes, while my friend ordered the Thai Chili wings, which were delicious. The salmon was good, though I asked for medium well and received it well done. I was hungry, so I didn't bother sending it back. Our server was kind and helpful when we could get her attention, but she wasn't as attentive as I would have expected, given how slow the restaurant was. With better service, this could have easily been a five-star experience. I'd recommend paying closer attention to customers across the board. read more

Let me start off my saying that I actually really like west end Grill. but today I did not have a great experience. I made this reservation with West End grille a week and a half before and didnt realize they closed at 5:30 pm. I wished they would have mentioned that when I spoke to someone to reserve. But I realize it was a gamble on Easter. The food was ok. Ive been here countless times and recommended this place to my friends who had never been there. But the food was so much better than before in my previous experience last year. The portion sizes and the prices did not match. The appetizer of calamari had more banana peppers than calamari. I ordered braised short rib with mashed potatoes and spinach. The 2 tiny sized short ribs I received were not worth the money I paid. I'm a chef, and sometimes I go out so I don't have to cook. the short ribs in the supermarket (market prices $30 bucks for 3 huge short ribs) is a reason I won't we back to this location. read more

Stopped by here for lunch after a 4-hour photography session for real estate nearby was seated in the booth area adjacent to the center bar with TVs overhead. Not too many people at this time frame but the ambiance had some nice lighting, although on the dimmer side but was still pleasant. Ordered their espresso martini, and while I compliment them for giving the rest of the mix, the composition was definitely leaning towards the more intense alcohol bite part of the spectrum, so wasn't as balanced as I would've liked. Since I'm typically a protein and veggies type of person, their lunch steak tips with vegetable du jour with a choice of potato called me that day. But upon its arrival, there was no potato, the steak tips were only five 1"-1 1/2" pieces (although cooked nicely) surrounded by root vegetables, which were carrots and green and yellow zucchini. For $21, I guess that's the expectation of the dish, even though that's the most expensive dish for lunch. My waitress was very nice and attentive, checking up on me every so often. If I'm around the area next time, I'll give this restaurant a second try and order other dishes off the menu to see if there's anything else that may change my mind about my current rating. read more

So I was in the area and googled "restaurants near me" and WEG came up on my search ! We were looking for a good lunch spot with onsite parking (because who likes parking on the street ? Not me.) The restaurant is located at the end of a strip mall with plenty of parking. When you walk in it's like you're in a different world, nice dark interior with a big bar and plenty of seating. Randomly stopped here for lunch. The staff seemed like they didn't want to be there which made me feel the same. Regardless we stayed and ordered chicken wings, calamari, steak tips and a chicken parm panini. The wings were delicious and well portioned. The calamari was good with the Thai chili sauce but portion compared to price was not suitable. The steak tips lunch was good because it was grilled not due to seasoning or flavor. Chicken parm panini was good but would have been amazing if they used a better bread. It was two slices of what could have been wonder bread. The waitress brought the check without asking if we wanted dessert or coffee which turned me off (although after looking the dessert didn't look worth it regardless). This place is right next to the movie theater and it used to be Rick's Cafe which was one of my favorite restaurants. Decided to try West End Grill, kind of the same American style foods so I stuck with the steak tips and cheeseburger classic. Both dishes were not bad and cooked to my liking. We were with a large group on January 25 and we had a great time here. Our waitress (Cayela) was awesome and very attentive even though they were extremely busy. I had the Italian platter and my husband had the Cuban sandwich which was huge. They had a one-man band that night also. Went here with the family after movies next door. It was the Friday after Thanksgiving. Service was very good but the food was not. Ordered a burger medium - came literally dripping blood. I was told it was medium rare by accident. Uhm, no. Not my first burger. They took it, cooked it more and returned the same burger with my one bite of it.... The waitress didn't want to replace the fries until I pointed out they were soaked in blood. Wife's baked scrod was dry and chewy. She barely ate any of it. Rice was also bland. Son's Mac and Cheese was the size of an appetizer for $18. He said it was okay but not enough. Caesar salad and kids chicken fingers were okay. 3 out of 5 meals not good. Wouldn't go back.
