I genuinely feel this is the best nursery the area has to offer, after having experienced 2 others locally also. My son was made welcome despite having joined late in the year, and made friends with whom he is close to this day. The building is beautiful, the car park is very organised, making it optimally safe for the children as they are dropped off/collected. The gardens to the rear are extensive, and have a wonderful wooden climbing frame, with a cargo net on the slope which the children can enjoy exploring. There is also an infant care facility which I didn't have experience with, but by all accounts it seems very proficient. The management are very accommodating and organised. I really can't recommend this nursery enough. My son was only there for a short time but had a wonderful bond with his main teacher, Miss Amanda R, who was very lovely, (as were the rest of the ladies.)

The nursery is clean and well equipped with rooms for 0-2, 2-3, and 3+. Each room has an outdoor play area also, though outdoor space is small for the 0-3 age range. My little girl has always enjoyed her nursery days, and I love to see and hear what activities she has enjoyed taking part in each day she attends. The nursery is situated beside the canal so often the kids can be brought out to feed the ducks. It is also a short distance from Kirkintilloch town centre so it is great when the staff bring the kids to the shops to buy ingredients for soup which is then made in nursery for them to enjoy later that day. The nursery hours are 8am - 6pm, with an extra charge being incurred for late pickups. Charges are in line with other nurseries and childminders in the area, although seem to increase at a higher rate than is fair. Additional fundraising events took place over the year, which I objected to since fees were already high enough. The nursery itself is a converted house on Wellshot Drive in Cambuslang, just yards from the main doctors surgery. The staff are friendly and seem to get on well with the children. The premises are reasonably clean and secure from people just wandering in. There are a wide variety of activities for the children and regular outings. Sounds ideal! Our problems started with outings in the local area that I was not informed of. All of the children would go for a day out to the soft play or local park and the parents wouldn't know where they were, which can be a problem if you have a family emergency and need to pick up your child before time. The second problem I had with this nursery is that they sometimes didn't change dirty nappies in a timely manner, leaving my little one with a very sore bottom. Also, on one occasion my son was left with a 16 year old work experience girl with no supervision. Finally, and really the straw that broke my back, was that despite being yards from the doctors surgery and assurances that if there was an emergency they would take the child directly to the surgery, they failed to do so and failed to contact me when my son awoke from a nap with blue fingers and lips, stating that they didn't feel this was anything to worry about. Ironically, on the day he was due to leave the nursery I was called to come and get him because he had a loose stool! This nursery is now under new management and may be better managed nowI hope it isbut for the reasons stated I couldn't recommend it. I've given it two stars because I believe the staff are committed and the care is reasonable when there are no complications. I think management were to blame and there is now new management.

I found the Hawthorn Walk branch to be ideal, all of the staff are well mannered and well spoken, and my son still asks for one of his carers from there after leaving 3 months ago. The children had busy days, playing inside and out, had regular "messy time" and went for walks around the area. They also taught the children about brushing their teeth, and my son made some firm friends. The toys here are lovely wooden and high quality, and the babies and tweenies are in one big room together although they are kept separated by a knee high fence. Each keyworker was allocated 3 toddlers, and there were always the right amount of staff per children no matter what time of day I dropped in to pick my wee one up. The only critisism I might have is that the development booklet at the end of my sons time here seemed to have been completed to tick a box, and photos had been taken to illustrate developmental milestones etc, even although they didn't actually relate to the photos. Also my son had lots of good photos taken during his time there, and I didn't get a copy of any despite asking. I've not been quite so impressed with the Wellshot Drive Nursery, but since my son hasn't been there very long I don't think it fair to comment yet, and maybe it's not bad just different.

Having had experience of other Nurseries with my son when he was younger as well as childminders, grasshoppers offers the best level of care. Staff are clearly experienced individuals who take pride in their work, I have also seen various members of the team being developed in their roles with training and various courses. Grasshoppers appears to invest in their staff and are continually looking at ways to improve taking on board feedback from parents. I have also had experience of things that I thought could have been done better and they have taken this onboard making the nessecary improvements. 10/10 for Grasshoppers I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for childcare in the ayrshire/kilmarnock area.

They have excellent facilities which includes a floodlit football pitch and a library within the school. It is now safer for the children to get to school as some of the local children had to cross 2 busy main roads which was a real hazard. The building is now a state of the art facility. It is good in the sense that all the children can mix together at break times. The downside for me is that it now houses 2 schools with 2 seperate entrances. Why did the local authority just not mix the 2 schools together??
