My husband and I both had an excellent experience with Dr. Shelley Sigur and staff. Very friendly, welcoming, and comfortable private practice atmosphere. I loved that Dr. Sigur greeted me prior to my exam. She explained my exam options (with the ability to decline or reschedule if I needed to) and if I had any concerns with the appearance of my smile or any issues with the health of my teeth. Dr. Sigur was so nice, and I could tell she really valued and cared about her patients. The cleaning and examination was very thorough, and I noticed they performed additional heath screening tests that were never done at my previous dentist. Which is a huge Plus! At the end of the examination, Dr. Sigur informed me of my test results and answered all my questions and concerns. There were no surprise findings or pressure to be sold on any cosmetic procedures for both my husband and I. We were both very happy with our experience at west Meade Dental. Going through the comments here, new patients take note that Dr. Sigur doesn't seem to have any affiliation with the practice anymore. It is now Dr. Kisner. I went yesterday and had a great, professional experience. You won't get upsold on unnecessary treatments with her. My hygienist was Kari, and she did a great job. They were following all the COVID protocols, and the office was exactly as clean and professional as you'd expect a great dentist office to be. I highly recommend going here! read more

Dr. Sigur is listed as a participating dentist in a dental savings program I have through a major dental insurance company. In scheduling as a new patient, I confirmed that my dental savings card was accepted and even provided the name of the insurance company and my unique identifier member ID number as part of this confirmation. I also sent over recent bitewing xrays - 10 days in advance - as I was there to discuss bridge replacement. Upon arrival, I completed paperwork but declined to provide my social security number (btw, this is never needed as insurance companies now use unique identifier member ID's). This set off the front desk attendant. She went on to say that my insurance discount plan was not known to her and she would check with Dr. Sigur. I expressed surprise and she said - paraphrased: you can wait while I ask her or you can leave now - I waited and then was told (paraphrased): we acknowledge that Dr. Sigur is listed as participating and that someone from our office told you it was accepted - but we don't take it so you can leave. I wish I could give Dr. Sigur ZERO STARS. This dental practice is simply practicing white collar crime. I went to see Dr. Sigur when I was new to the city and needed a cleaning. I was informed that I had several cavities, in all areas of my mouth. They immediately wanted to put me on a filling plan, where every other month I would come in for more fillings. I should note, I have never experienced cavities before. After I had the first set completed, I was already dissatisfied. She filled my top right molars so full with the filling that it's as if my teeth are flat. I went to see another dentist and was informed that I have ZERO CAVITIES. Evidently, I had been duped. I would not recommend this dental practice to anyone. Goodbye $500. read more

From my fiancee :"Please beware and do not trust the people in this office from the office manager the hygienist and the doctor. I came here to get an X-ray done and they told me I needed a deep clean and had 1 cavitythey for which my bill wouldl be about $2,700 for deep clean and filling. My teeth are beautiful and super clean having gotten mine done every 6 months so there is no need for the deep cleaning. They also told me that all my gum lines were below 5 mm which is very bad and I have gum disease. I felt something is wrong and shady about this office so I went to a different dentist -one I have been going to for years but they are an hour away. My long time dentist told me I have ZERO cavities and I don't have any gum disease. Try to save yourself money do not come here as they appear to be trying to upsell and rip you off - I do not trust this office. Normally I would not work a review but I am also in the healthcare industry and it is very unethical to lie to your patients." read more

I've always been the girl who avoided mirrors because of her teeth. But Dr. Sigur has fixed that. We've developed a strong relationship as patient and dentist where we've determined what I need, what I can afford, and a game plan on how to get things fixed together. I can't talk about how much a love her enough. Which is crazy because a year and a half ago, the thought of going to the dentist made me cry immediately in fear. This practice is truly atrocious. I can not caution people enough to run, don't walk away before your dental health is compromised! My insurance changed and my previous dentist was no longer covered under the new plan. So I chose Dr. Sigur based on proximity to my home. She said I had a cavity subsequently drilled and filled it. Unfortunately I've had quite a bit of dental work, but because of this I quickly realized she was not very good at drilling. I could tell at a certain point she made a mistake and took out a part of my healthy tooth. She did a sloppy job filling it and ever since day one that filling has looked old and in bad shape. After that experience I resolved to return to my regular excellent dentist who immediately recognized the poor quality of the filling and I will soon need a crown to replace what was a previously HEALTHY tooth, according to his recent records. $$$ That's all to say nothing about how poorly managed the office is, appointment setting mistake, and the constant rotation of temporary staff. All dental work requires pre-payment which I now realize is a sure sign that any previous clients are horrified by the results and rightly refuse payment! I believe every positive review on Google and Yelp to be false and think she should be investigated by the dental board. read more

They were wonderful!! The staff was incredibly friendly and very informative on everything they were doing. I went in for a regular check up and cleaning, this was my first time going to them and I will definitely go back. Dr. Sigur seemed to really have my best interest in mind, I asked about whitening options and she said for me the best thing would be Crest White Strips rather than professional whitening. I have received poor service at this dentist. I will not be returning and I do not recommend them. Last dental cleaning I had, the dentist was not even there to check my teeth, or provide insight into the pain I had been having. This was after rescheduling me at the last minute. Luckily I was able to change my schedule or I was told I would have not been able to use my remaining benefits in December. In addition, the dentist, Shelly Sigur, never called me back or asked to see me when I had a dental emergency, nor did she offer techniques for relief, or medication! They also have difficulty handling insurance claims and providing medical records to another provider when needed. All in all, this practice needs better management and a dentist who is more compassionate and present for her patients. I feel my two stars are generous. read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. DO NOT GO HERE!!! Unless you want to waste thousands of dollars to get your teeth fixed only to find out they messed it up. I spent OVER 2 grand to get root canal done. Afterwards, I noticed my teeth would hurt when I flossed, thought this wasn't normal. Asked Dr. Sigur about it, she says, OH it's normal. Come to find out, IT IS NOT. Also found out, she nicked BOTH my teeth and now I have to get another root canal done on both to FIX WHAT she messed up. SO thank you Dr. Sigur for making me pay double for my teeth just so the other dentist can fix what you screwed up. She lied to me, took my money and screwed me over 4 grand. I will not recommend ANYONE to go here, go to Aspen dental, they ACTUALLY care about their patients and do it right the first time around. I am so sad and upset to find out she lied to me and screwed up my teeth. Save yourself the money and go somewhere where the dentist KNOWS what they are doing. read more

I wish they had been more transparent and communicative about the expenses involved. I was never given a treatment plan or an estimate to sign. I should have demanded one prior to submitting to the dental work and from now on will ask for pre-authorizations from my insurance company. My wife and I were new to Nashville in October, and needed a quick clean up. I have NEVER had cavities my whole life and I walked out of my session and needed "11 cavories filled". My wife also never gets cavities and she was told she had 4. I went to Belle Meade Dental a few months later....I had 3 cavities and my wife had 1 little one. This place is a sham!!! I started going to this dentist two or so years ago after we switched insurance and had to find a new dentist. I was happy with their service at first and had told them how my past dentist (all through high school and college) had really taken advantage of me and messed up my teeth. Seriously, I feel like I've been getting dental work my whole life. She seemed like she empathized, but went on to tell me how I needed work done on tons of my teeth. I started getting some of the work done (which is all super expensive) and had to take a break because we could not afford to keep doing it. She also referred me to a doctor for my gums and the doctor she referred me to gave me a sort of care plan of the work she wanted to do, totaling more than $4k.. This raised a red flag for me. Anyways, I have since become pregnant so all dental work is on hold. We also got new insurance so decided to return to our old dentist because of the Yelp reviews saying this office had scammed multiple people. My husband (who has never had a cavity in his life) was told by Dr. Sigur that he needed 3 fillings. Guess what?? Our regular dentist that we returned to said he had NONE. Also, even with being pregnant, they said that they can't believe she did all of the work that she did on my teeth and they are so glad that I didn't do more. I feel cheated and am beyond pissed that I wasted my time and money on this business. We will not be returning and advise people to stay far away. read more

West Meade Dental is fantastic! I had no idea what to expect when I walked in and I was immediately greeted with kindness and enthusiasm from multiple members of the West Meade team. Karen did a wonderful job cleaning my teeth and putting me at ease. She is super sweet and answered all my questions. She is so cool that I even gave her a hug when I left. Dr. Sigur is a total delight. She made me feel like a rock star! She is very warm and friendly. I couldn't have chosen a better place to go for dental work/cleaning. If you live outside of the West Meade area, I strongly recommend adding a little bit of drive time to come to this facility. It's right off the 40 and on Charlotte Pike. Giving 2 stars for the nice office space and the fact that the wait time is minimal and everybody is friendly. My main complaint is that Dr. Sigur seems to have all four chairs full at one time and she runs back and forth, always in a hurry, from room to room. I am assuming this is to maximize revenues. However, I feel like I have received sub-standard dental care I also felt like she was cutting corners and in a hurry the entire time she was working on me. This makes me very nervous. Also, her staff is always new and fresh out of school. this tells me that A. She does not pay well; and/or B. She is difficult to work with, or both. This adds to my nervousness that I am receiving sub-standard care. I am now having issues with the work she did and I am afraid that she has caused a more expensive issue to arise by cutting corners and being in a hurry while working on my mouth. I am extremely disappointed and upset that I chose this dentist for the dental work that I needed and may even file a Complaint with the Dental Board. read more

Ughh..ok where to start with this office. So the staff was really nice, but that is the only thing they have going for them. As soon as I sat down in the chair, whitening my teeth was brought up (even though my teeth are already nice and pearly white) which I thought was very salesy. Then after the full mouth x-rays were taken, the Dr came in and told me I had 4 cavities. Well, I was a bit shocked by this given that I've only had one cavity in my whole life, and it seemed a little odd that 4 would have developed in a matter of 6mo since my last visit. I felt uncomfortable with her diagnosis and her suggestion 'not to wait because they are getting bad fast!' so I went to seek a second opinion from Belle Meade Family Dentistry. The dentist there took a quick set of x-rays, looked over my teeth and said I had a teeny tiny cavity on one tooth and that was all. So he filled it within 5min since I didn't even require lidocaine and was so small. Needless to say, I'm less than happy with Dr. Sigur and her malpractice. read more
