As a…read moresuburb dweller I live really close to the SE section and really enjoy walking my dog, biking or just exploring through the southeast wetlands, they have a really nice pathway, bird watching towers and bridges over the wetlands. Since it loops all around the city you can go for as long of a walk/bike as you'd like. I usually only make it about 10 km but it's still a great way to get out and away from it all.

Would be nice to have a fenced off area much like silver springs has and it has 2 of them!!…read more It's great to have such a large off leash area although the part from Southland to Anderson is so narrow with the bike path running down the middle it's really not safe for dogs as with e-bikes now traveling so fast on this pathway there is little to no time for the dog or rider to react.

Unfortunately this park has recently increased in volume of people and it's a shame because it has attracted a high number of dog owners who treat the park like a free for all and are not watching their dogs so more poop is being left behind and the dogs are not under control when they need to be. We recently had two incidents with a dog owner who completely disregarded the off-leash by-laws and his large dog chased our small dog and rolled her and bit her like she was a stuffy toy it was playing with. The owner couldn't of cared less. He just shook his head and reacted like "oh well" and he's not the only one. Their are number of older folks and some small children that use this park as well and this type of behavior is increasing so be aware if you do choose to go to this park. There are some lovely people and dogs there as well but you know the old saying " one bad egg can ruin it for the rest" Cheryl M.

Baker Park holds one of the most visited disc golf courses in Canada, and it's easy to see why…read more Baker Park is located right along the Bow River, affording lovely views and access to paved multi-use trails. The start of disc golfing is located at one end of the park, and we were able to find it easily using directions online. There are also public washrooms at the beginning of the course. The holes here are varied and a good medium difficulty, I especially enjoyed some strategically placed trees. We didn't have any problems finding the holes, as there were nice arrows and clear signs. At the end of our visit we found a food truck in the parking lot to grab some ice cream. We only finished the first nine holes so I'm looking forward to returning to finish the course.

I like the fact that I can always find parking so maybe I shouldn't even write this review. It's a beautiful beautiful park especially in the spring time when all the apple trees are in blossom. Also I really appreciate the gardening staff they planted thousands of dollars worth of petunias that were all eaten by the rabbits but somehow they quickly replaced them and the new ones are not being eaten so take a look at the photos

This was my first time here since the science centre moved, I think about 4 years ago, whoaaaa, time flies! It was down-pouring rain the day and night before so I was expecting the lawn to be wet, and wet it was. But fortunately for us, the sun was out and by mid-afternoon the grass was drier not completely dry except on the parts of the land that was more uphill. As a venue I think the Shaw Millennium Park is perfect for small to medium sized crowds. Truth be told, I'm nervous about the Major Lazer Block Party. Last year it was held at Prairie Winds Park, and it was perfect for the 3000 people in attendance. At Carifest this weekend, I would guess that there was probably about 500-1000 people throughout the day at the park, and I could see how this concentration of people affected lines for the bathrooms and food trucks. Takeaways, if the stage is located with the castle-like building behind it, it is extremely breathtaking. The LRT (our transit) is located 2 minutes away. Paid parking is available around the venue. If it has been raining or will look like it is about to rain, wear comfy CLOSED-TOED shoes. Wet feet can and will ruin your day. If you're attending the park for an event, hope that less than 1000 people show up. If more than 1000 people show up, don't break your seal. :)

I would always wonder where they came from... until I found out there was a skate park right across the street in Shaw Millennium park. While out for a run yesterday, I decided to jog on over to check it out. I haven't been spotted on a skateboard since I borrowed my brothers to roll down a hill with when I was 9 or 10, so I figured a run through it would be enough for me to check it out. It's mostly covered in snow for the season, but it wasn't so deep that I couldn't walk around for a looksee! Other than a walk around, there's isn't much for the average park goer to do at the moment... unless you want to head in and check out the murals. Yep! It's got murals, 6 of them total in fact from local artists commissioned by the city. My fave... the graffiti from TheKidBelo entitled Vitae Amoris... although The Birds and The Bees by Wil Yee was a close second! Yelp Kicks Butt Challenge: 2/10

This neighborhood gem is a no nonsense, no frills, honest fitness facility. I come here 2-3 times a…read moreweek to do my best Michael Phelps impression. The staff are friendly and the constant presence of lifeguards make me feel safe. The pool is clean although I've seen the occasional bandaid at the bottom. There's a constant flow of swimmers who take advantage of the lane swim times. There's a dive tank and a hot tub too. The gym is small but has what you need for a productive workout. I like building up a sweat and cooling down in the pool after. The change rooms could be cleaner but that's understandable because it's so busy. Just don't look at the floor. The lockers require quarters but some lockers are free for you to use your own lock. The rates are SO CHEAP compared to Vivo and YMCA. I bought a 30x pass that never expires for $170. That comes to just under $6/entry compared to $14 drop in at the aforementioned facilities. Drop in rates and 10x passes are also City of Calgary's website along with their pool schedules. If you're not close to Thornhill, other City of Calgary facilities are dotted around the city that offer the same rates.

I've been here in the daytime and also the evening and the attendance is quite varied. Some days it is very busy and others it's very quiet. The facility is a little bit older and not as well maintained as the other city pools. The centre does have a good sized weight room. The big disappointment is the change room facilities. They have a dark dingy feel to them. Water pools around the built in tiles benches, making you want to avoid the puddles. Now they do make the effort to clean them at the end of the night, but they could wait until the patrons have left so that they don't have to walk barefoot over cleaning solution on the floor.

This is one of our favourite dog parks for being by the river and having so much space to the let…read morethe dog run off leash. It has great quality path ways easy for pushing the stroller on and even when it's busy there is still plenty of room for the pups to play. I will continue using this park when ever we can it's one of the best in the city

The ability to go for a walk was not. This is not a park that allows dogs off-leash or a park with a dog park, this is very much a giant dog park. If you don't have a dog this is not a place to go for a walk. It's a super cool dog park! There are a bunch of different fenced in areas, including a huge agility course and river access. It seemed new and well maintained. The highway noise is pretty intense, but worth putting up with to enjoy letting your dog run and socialize.

I like this park for the hills and trees... there are a number of different paths you can travel along, which makes it a more interesting experience than those parks with only one main path. It's not fully fenced but it's never been an issue for me. The people are friendly and there are some great views of downtown - even benches if you want to take a breather and just relax. The hills can get icy in the winter, especially the tree-protected ones near the first parking lot, so be careful and wear proper footwear. I don't come here often but when I have it's never been overly busy, which is nice. Sometimes a crowded park can feel a little overwhelming. (Yelp Kicks Butt Challenge 2/10)
