We were sent to Valley View Repair from a recommendation from the motel we were staying at. The mechanic took time out of his busy schedule to diagnose the problem which was spot on. We mentioned that we were from out of town and did not even have a vehicle to use. They said that they were scheduled for the next week but were kind enough to fit us in the next day and even gave us a loaner car so we could enjoy the day in Amish country. For over 30 years, I have bought all of the replacement parts for my cars. I had a custom set of Raybestas rotors, and OEM pads. We dropped the car off, and when we went to pick it up, the bill was $200. I received an indication that they don't like customers bringing their own parts, and I knew I had been gouged out about $75. The problem with shop like this is that they really don't care about the quality and performance of the parts they use, only the extra profit. They don't seem to know much about issues with certain cars, such as large Honda's. They a problem with the front brake rotors warping. I brought the car in to solve that problem, and I had the correct pards to do this. I received no indication of any knowledge that my car has this issue, and I doubt they have the ability to find a rotor that will hold up. There are other places in the area that respect a customer with knowledge, and don't mind using high quality parts provided to them. Brake systems in cars are one of the most important, in terms of maintenance. I doubt that very many shops will replace OEM brake pads with the same quality product. To wrap it up, does your shop take your safety seriously enough to take the time to get the best parts for your car? I know that a shop that will gouged me on labor would not make an effort to find front rotors that will not overheat, and warp again. So, that my one only time I was at this shop. For their business practices, I will share the ugly truth. I have driven well over 1 million miles, and worked on my cars for all of that time. I was a spare parts buyer at Boeing for post production Commercial Aircraft. I know most of the companies that make spare parts for cars. I do not believe that a customer will get the kind of service that necessary to keep a car operating at maximum safety levels here. That should be a priority for the shop you go to, as well as yourself.

A competitor wanted to over charge me for the tranny flush alone. But when I called in to speak to the lovely gentlemen at Massillon Transmission it was no secret how they have been in business 30+ years. They let me know they would run a scan to figure out the light issue to ensure it wouldn't require a draining of all engine fluid and thus a double charge for the tranny flush and while they had my girl up they could go ahead and handle the tire rotation that hadn't been done with the latest oil change. I dropped the Kia off at 8am and had a call by 10:30 that everything was good to go. The tranny flush was completed and the codes causing my engine light to be on was included in the notes to make sure I can follow up with a dealership. However it was stressed that the light being on shouldn't be any immediate concern. They solved my issues and gave me peace of mind. I doubt I'll ever go anywhere else in this area for a transmission service on any of my vehicles ever again. It was no different than when my Pappy used to change my oil and that speaks volumes. Plus, the Kia doesn't sound like a jet anymore, I couldn't be happier!
