West Sussex Record Office is situated at the end of West Street, on Orchard Street, in the centre of Chichester. It is a purpose built archive, built in the (I think) 1980s. The Record Office is an excellent place to carry out research. The reading room is spacious, with big desks and it is easy to plug in laptops. Staff are friendly and helpful. The records are also well catalogued, which makes them easy to access. In the reception area there are drinks and snacks for sale. The records are great too, some really fascinating documents on the history of Sussex. read more
