Really, I don't even know where to start with this. How do you review four years of your life? Let's start with what I know: If you're an Art, Theater or Communication major, your department just got the most kick-ass makeover ever. A sweet new building, new computer labs, two top of the line TV studios, the best damn broadcasting department in the nation, a better-than-pro radio studio to match, new theaters (yes, multiple!), new music studios. You name it. That's the place to be on this campus. If you are one of many commuters at this school, I hope you have a lot of money to spend on parking tickets, because the $40 you wasted on a permit won't get you anywhere. I show up to class 20 minutes early and can't find a place to park, some days. The new President seems to have a lot of direction and a lot of good ideas. I never felt like I was going places when I went to WT in 2001. Elie Wiesel just gave the freshman convocation address, for goodness' sake. You can't beat that! The athletic program is kicking ass and taking names, for those of you interested in that. Plus new facilitiees in the works and a new Jumbo-tron at the stadium (P.S. broadcasts are student-run). Unlike larger schools, you can get mega mega scholarships to study abroad because people are just starting to find out about that department. New construction, dorms, etc. everywhere you look. Oh, and a free gym if you're a student. And it's still small enough to be friendly and affordable, with a staff that's helpful rather than bureacratic (mostly). The downsides? Of course, the above-mentioned parking and construction. Also, the small class sizes... your department starts to feel incestuous sometimes. And it's not a highly recognized name. You kind of feel like you're wasting your time, sometimes. Also, there is NOTHING to do if you live on campus. Good luck if you or your roommate don't have cars. There's sports, and that's about it. So yeah, it can seem really lame in terms of activities sometimes, but that doesn't mean that there aren't ways to get involved and do cool stuff, too. I guess there's plenty to do if you're always hard at work with the organizations of your choice. But there's not a lot of cool stuff you can just go to, you know? It's a mixed bag, really. As a non-traditional student I had reservations about being, well, non-traditional. I had such an awesome experience. The school does a great job of offering classes designed to make non-traditional students successful. As a business professional I can attest to the fact that the things that I learned in my core and elective courses are instrumental and applicable and I use them every day. I honestly can't say enough good things about the quality of the education, the resources available to students, and the opportunities for student life. read more

First of all...Go Buffs! I am a WT graduate from the class of 1992! I know that's a long time ago but it seems like yesterday! I went to WT for 2 years on a volleyball scholarship and had the time of my life. Of course it helped that we had an incredible team (back to back National Champs), but I also made many lifelong friends. Yeah, you do need a car if you go to WT as there's not much going on on weekends on campus. But the clubs and bars of Amarillo are just a short drive away to get your party on. I enjoyed WT and the Texas Panhandle even coming from sunny California. I was impressed with my professors (psych major) and felt the education was of excellent quality, especially for such a small school. If you're considering WT, it's a great school! read more

Speaking for the Department of Agricultural Sciences. The professors really care about your education and want to see you succeed, with majority being tough but fair. WT has some of the best professors in the US for all parts of the Agriculture field. Worth the money as an out of state student. read more

I'm in the MBA program and I really respect this school because they don't engage in the typical price gouging of a typical AACSB business school. I'm satisfied with the level of instruction, and I feel that I wouldn't be learning much more, at least in a practical sense, from a better known school - I can always buy the books that all the Stanford professors write if I need to pick up the latest way of saying the same thing differently (sometimes a different perspective is helpful). The downside would be that if you need a title from The Land of OZ, perhaps to get an interview with an investment bank, then you might need to look elsewhere. In that case I can only say, good luck and enjoy the combination of the appalling rate of diminishing marginal utility and the mortgage level debt. "Price is what you pay. As a current Buff... West Texas A&M as a whole is a great school but the dorms on the other hand are a completely different story. Do not choose to stay in buff hall. The RA's are inconsiderate and do not care. You will pay an insane amount to live here but the living conditions and issues you run into are not worth the money. The issues also won't get resolved because again the RA's do not care. I suggest staying in centennial or founders at all costs. You have a much better living experience and save yourself a ton of money. Thank you and go buffs!!! read more
