I absolutely loved my first time coming to this office for a prenatal chiropractic visit! The staff is very nice and welcoming. The ambiance of the waiting room is very calming and I love their decor. They have soft spa music playing and a tea station. One of the staff members took me into a room to do a few intake tests. I changed into a gown and she provided privacy while I did so. She tested my back with these probes to see where I had inflammation and did a stress response test. Then I was taken to another exam room to see Dr. Burk. She is very energetic and explains things well in detail. She asked me a few background questions first about my medical history, any past injuries and previous chiropractic history. I showed her a few reports of prior imaging that I've had done before. After that we did my adjustments and she explained along the way what she saw and what the treatment was that she was doing. She accommodated my belly with a special pillow so that I could lie flat face down for my back adjustment and protect baby. She used a certain equipment that let her adjust my spine without putting that much pressure. My primary reason for coming was to have better hip alignment to prepare me for delivery in a few months. Overall I really enjoyed my first visit here. I'll have to see how my body adjustments do to say how often I will come. They do not take insurance, so everything is self-pay but it was worth it. The first exam is always going to be the most expensive and the subsequent visits will be a little cheaper. They do offer prenatal massages here as well, but IMO a little too pricey. read more

First. This place is amazing. I had had horrible experiences with chiropractors in the past, and was refusing to go to one. Until there came a time when I could barely stand up straight due to significant back issues. I can attest they are no less than miracle workers. This place is amazing. I have been doing activator method for the past 17-20 years. When I moved to Houston, this place came up in activator method, so I knew they were certified. A few things to point out. 1. They know what they are doing. More than most places. They take the time to listen to what is going on, they actually read the notes from your previous visit, and genuinely care. 2. They don't try to push you like other places (the joint) to buy memberships, come more than you need to, etc. they cater to what YOU specifically need at that time. They will say recommendations, but always take into account financial means, which I can appreciate. 3. They have massage therapists and therapy on site. They are not just out of school, they are LEGIT massage therapists. They are great massages, and work with the doctors to ensure it goes hand in hand. I love that they listen to you and what you are needing. Also, they do pre and post natal massages!! Huge plus. 4. They take safety into account during covid to make sure everyone is safe! 5. They do offer supplements that can be recommended based on your needs. 6. They keep their clients in mind for holiday raffles, events, etc. very thoughtful and fun! I've brought my baby to appointments with multiple chiropractors here, and they have all been excellent. Their styles are all different, but they are all super nice. We were referred here by multiple lactation consultants for aftercare because my baby had a tongue tie revision performed. Dr. Ploy is thorough, friendly, and effective. She does a great job of explaining what she finds when she's examining and adjusting my baby, and I always appreciate the information. Dr. Hanieh did both craniosacral therapy and chiropractic manipulation. She is very sweet and gentle. Dr. Petitclerc came highly recommended by multiple lactation consultants and other parents for craniosacral therapy, and she lived up to the high expectations. She was great and also had baby lying on or held by my husband during the appointment, which I think helped a lot -- my baby was super relaxed and didn't even cry! The waiting room has a couple choices of beverages available, and there are books and toys for kids to entertain themselves with. There is even a nursing room that can be locked. West University Wellness is a well-thought-out clinic--reserved parking spaces are available just outside, both the waiting area & exam room are child-friendly, & it even boasts a lactation room. Appointments are easy to obtain, & chiropractic care here is covered by most major insurers with a referral. My chiropractor is Caroline Long I'm lopsided--everything about me leans & twists to the left. This was especially a problem when I was pregnant with my son, & later my twin daughters. Silly me, I'd even followed NHS's advice about left-side lying, when pregnant with my little son. He wound up on my far left-hand side. Worse still, when in labor, the community midwives in our working-class London neighborhood forced me to lie on my left side. I was in labor for 2 1/2 days straight. Happily, I started seeing Dr. Long during the last month of my pregnancy with my twin daughters. With her help, I was able to keep up my active lifestyle until the end of my pregnancy, as described in my Previous Review. Dr. Long shifted my babies to my right, & the varicose veins I'd developed on my left side stopped worsening. More importantly, she helped my little ones position themselves so optimally that I was fully dilated in labor in ~3 1/2 hours. She also eased my pain. After our girls were born, I had 3 little ones to care for, and soon enough, to chase around; 3 little ones to pick up; and 3 little ones to carry around. And I did carry all 3 of them, tandem, once in a while. More usually, though, just our girls. I carried them, on my far right-hand side (1 in the front, 1 in the back) through Central Market, once a week...and around the house, down the street, & through the park, for the first 2 years of their lives. And my back held up--until the day it snapped completely. It went out again a few days later. So I returned to see Dr. Long. I confessed to her that I suspected myself to be crooked. Dr. Long examined me and confirmed that my left leg is shorter than my right, and so I list to the left. She adjusted me too, of course. After the first session I felt completely out of whack. But after the second session, my back felt stronger than it had before. And after the third session, my back felt unlikely to go out again. I was all but free of pain, too. Better still, Dr. Long taught me to use pelvic wedges to help me keep my back in alignment. She even took & emailed me a pic of myself with the wedges in the correct positions, so I'd be able to configure them, myself, at home. In other words, Dr. Long taught me how to go for longer, before needing her services. That's integrity. Unlike the last time I visited West University Wellness, Dr. Long did want me to see her, again for another adjustment. She didn't push it, though, which was a relief, because, frankly, we just haven't the money. My 3 appointments with her had to be good enough. And miraculously, they have been. I last saw Dr. Long 4 months ago, and I'm still free of pain & going strong. Her bedside manner is so brilliant, I almost wish I needed to see Dr. Long again. She never fails to put me & my little ones at ease. And we always have the loveliest chats. I have chronic back pain, which leads to additional pain in my hips, shoulders, wrists, knees, earaches - you name it. But thanks to Dr. Ploy, I'm feeling SO much better. I started seeing her about three times a week - it was that bad - and as I got better, we reduced it to twice a week, once a week, and eventually once a month for quick adjustments. After working her magic. I now know what it's like to NOT have constant back pain. I'm kicking myself for not checking out West U Wellness years ago. I was also suffering from earaches which Dr. Ploy fixed with a few adjustments. The reason why I picked West U: 1) Because of their many good reviews from quality yelpers 2) They're holistic approach to curing ailments and secondary ailments 3) They also do acupuncture. This was my first time getting acupuncture - which was partly covered through my insurance - and I was eager to try it out for anxiety and insomnia. You know those nights where all you can think about is work, work, work and your to-do list for the next day, leaving you sleepless and frazzled. Well ... the acupuncture seriously worked, and I've continued to get treatment. My road rage diminished, I wasn't snapping at the poor beau as much, I was sleeping like a baby. I was practically care free. I then experimented with the acupuncture for weigh loss. They're these mini band-aide-like stickers with microscopic needles that go on/around your ears. I lost two pounds in the first week; it's supposed to suppress your appetite and curb cravings. The clinical staff here is amazing. I started seeing Dr. Ploy a few months ago, when I couldn't move my neck. Within a week my mobility had drastically improved. I've also been a long time sufferer of chronic back pain. Never have I had someone listen so careful without forming snap judgments and explain my graphs/scans so clearly. I saw her twice a week for a few weeks, and now I try to see her once a week. I also try to fit in a massage with Erika every few weeks. She's amazing. She's also hilarious. I know lots of people enjoy just relaxing, and I'm sure she'd let me do so if that's what I wanted. But I enjoy my conversation with her so much that it is sort of relaxing in its own way. She gives one of the best massages I've ever had, pays attention to all the trouble spots, and lets you know when she's concerned about any spots. She mentioned my body giving off heat and that being a sign of inflammation. Suggested I see an allergist... A week and a half later I saw my GP and found out I had strep. And I have an allergy to grass which is what causes me to be highly susceptible to UR infections like strep. The 4 star (vs a full 5) rating is due to the office staff. They are VERY friendly. But I've had some issues with whether on not my deductible has been met, and different girls charging me different amounts. Yesterday I called and left a message confirming my massage appointment for today and to cancel my adjustment for Wednesday. This morning I got a call that my massage for today was canceled and that I'd owe the full amount anyway since I canceled too late. Great for Pregnant women! I'm currently Pregnant and going to Dr. Yeager to treat tailbone and lower back pain and after my first visit I felt better than months of physical therapy! I sprained my ankle during a workout a couple of months ago. I had intermittent pain that would not go away. I decided to see a Dr. Menka Patel because I knew my sprain was taking longer than usual to recover. Dr. Patel was thorough and help alleviate my pain just after one treatment! I, of course, kept coming to see her. She even gave me exercises and stretches to do at home when my pain came back. I came here a few times, but I was not happy with the front desk girl (arrogant and unpleasant) and I also noticed that my massages were a few minutes shorter than scheduled although I was there on time. Other than that Dr. Ploy was very good and so were the massage therapists. The Acupuncture did not work for me and was overpriced. So, as I said I would, I'd write an update to my review once I got a massage at West U Wellness. I got a massage yesterday from Cassandra who worked all of the knots in my neck, shoulders and upper back. But she started out on my feet to find out how tense I was throughout my body, even massaged my head and ears, and as well as my entire back part of my buttocks. So you might as well call it a full body massage. Cassandra was very good and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I have been taking my baby girl to see Caroline Long for the past month and she is amazing. I love the idea that as show grows she will be aligned. Now we are going to see her as a family. I'm going for my neck because it bothers me quite a bit all the time. I went to Dr Yeager on the recommendation of someone on Twitter answering my plea for a suggestion on how to fix my resemblance to robocop...I went to see him, and I have never looked back. I love the atmosphere in the office (they have regular family days, get-togethers and parties with patients), the staff are always friendly, I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen, it's easy to get to (I come up from Missouri City twice a month at least) and they open two Saturdays a month for those who can't find the time during the work-week. My back is feeling notibly better since I started going to Dr Yeager and my entire being feels a lot more 'stable' as opposed to thinking that if I sit 'funny' or wrong, even for a short time, that I'm gonna hurt for days. I sent my daughter first, she was the guinea pig, and she loved the results. Her back always hurt when she woke up in the mornings, probably because of the strange positions she would sleep. Also her sternum was visibly crooked, so much so that her school nurse sent us for a scoliosis evaluation. It wasn't scoliosis, but Dr. Long was able to minimize the protrusion...did you get that? She moved her sternum!!! All gently and painlessly. And if it was scoliosis, she could have helped with that too. I don't understand why people send their kids for surgery and body casts. It's not necessary in a lot of cases. They need to try a good chiropractor first! So then I went. I'd had horrible pain in my feet for over a year, and I work as a hairdresser, so I was in a lot of pain daily. They hooked me up to some electrical thing and after a few sessions I started to notice the pain subsiding. Now two years later still pain free in my feet. I have friends who said a podiatrist administered steroid shots to her for the same affliction, but it only lasted a few months. Shots in my feet? No thank you! Next step for her is surgery--that's crazy! But she doesn't believe in Chiropractic. Her loss! They also did a lovely job adjusting my back, and when my lower back gave me trouble, they taught me exercises to tone my core. They have a nice little workout room and a pilates instructor helped me out with that. All the staff is friendly and the place is neat, clean and well organized. I've never been one for chiropractic care. Having grown up with family in the medical field, and working in it myself, you don't always hear great things. While I still feel that chiropractic alone isn't enough, West U makes sure you have the perfect balance of everything needed! I'd tried so many things for my neck before finding Dr. Long, including 3 series of painful injections! With her gentle techniques of stretching, teaching me more about proper posture and how to watch for bad posture mindlessly, and the massages, I am 90% cured after just a few weeks of going twice a week. I still go back for massages when needed, but it's rare these days. On the massage note, Erika has to be hands down the best massage I've ever had!! She can take my back and neck full of trigger points causing headaches and neck pain, and make me 100% pain free in just one 60 minute session. I've had massages ranging from free, to $150+ and she is the only person I will go to now even though I still get free ones from my job. That says a lot. :) read more

I have heard great things about Dr. Caroline Long at West U Wellness for a long time, but I didn't actually go see her until after Hurricane Ike hit Houston. I was in terrible pain (as I had been for a while) and my regular chiropractor was out of town due to the hurricane. While we weren't even living at home because we had no power, West U Wellness was in an area with power restored and they were open. They even suggested I should bring laundry and cell phones to charge, if I needed to! :) I am so grateful that I finally went to Dr. Long. The excruciating pain I'd been dealing with for many months was finally treated, not just with chiropractic adjustments (which she did) but also with a variety of modalities, including electric muscle stimulation (which felt SO good!), that got to the root of the problems and FIXED them. I still remember being utterly amazed at being able to walk without searing pain. It was amazing. I've been seeing the doctors, therapists, and massage therapists at West U Wellness for 2.5 years now. I am still delighted by the ability to walk in, tell them what's wrong that day, and have them work on that very thing. My children have been treated by Dr. Long, as well. My eldest began terming his adjustments "massages" - that's how gentle she is! He begs for me to make appointments for him, too. :) I saw Dr. Long throughout my last pregnancy and couldn't be more thrilled with her care. She always seems to find the spots that really need to be worked on and it made a huge difference in my severe pelvic issues during pregnancy. The baby now gets regular adjustments, as well - gentle, quick, and caring. If I could afford it, I'd be in for a therapeutic full body massage every week and adjustments once or twice a week. Came here on a recommendation from a friend after my hips and knee started aching from running. I called to inquire about insurance options and the was taken care of right away I even got an appointment that very same day. Upon arrival the place was a bit busy but check in was a breeze. I like that there isn't much paper work to fill out. Most of your check in is done via a computer with touch screen. I was greeted and taken care of very nicely by the staff and my visit was with Dr Yeager. He was very professional and understood my issues well. He opted for chiropractic my first visit and explained each exercise and what affects it has on the body to me clearly and gave me a few pointers what to work on at home. When I moved to Houston over four years ago I found Dr. Yeager within a few months of arrival. He has provided insightful, progressive treatment for various issues I have had over the past four years. The service is professional, caring, and very effective. I have chronic back issues from childhood scoliosis and Dr. Yeager helped me with pinpointed treatment. He also does accupuncture. When I was training for half marathons I went to Dr. Yeager for knee and hip pain and added exercises to help me build strength. Dr. Yeager treated me all through recovery of a car accident three years ago. While pregnant he helped with treatment specific for back pain and leg numbness. I also saw Dr. Long for pelvic adjustments. My infant son sees Dr. Long. She is fantastic with him and helps him feel at ease with the chiropractic treatment. She helped correct tight neck issues, and a flat head from sleeping facing one direction. She also helped him through a long bout with a chest cold/RSV. Most recently I had back surgery and they supported me both before and after the surgery and even helped me carry my son to and from my car. I love Alex for massages though she had moved away for now. The front desk staff and the technicians are all so friendly. They take their time with me and smile! Francesca the office manager is great with figuring out insurance and fixing and times the insurance messes up. She pays prompt refunds on overpayments. They take my FSA card. The waiting room is comfortable, has tea and water, and I often run into someone else I know! There is a play area for kids and a very useful diaper changing station in the back. The chiropractor I saw was super nice and definitely knew what he was talking about. He adjusted my spine and gave me some electric current therapy in my lower back. I did feel better the next day. I just didn't like that the office manager did not want to bill my insurance because they were out of network and would only pay $20 per adjustment. In her own words she said: it's not worth it. Well, it is worth it to me since it's $20 less for me to pay!! I didn't like that at all, but will not lower their star rating since the actual chiropractor who saw me was pretty good. I called my insurance and they explained they can reimburse me if I send them receipts. I plan to go back eventually, but I am still a little bothered with the billing situation. I've been to other Chiropractors before and they "SOMEHOW" manage to bill my insurance themselves! This is a first! read more

Several years ago, I threw my back out and when I asked several friends where to go they recommended West University Wellness. Not only did they get me moving again, but over the years they helped with my TMJ, migraines, a stubborn knot in my back and they have been absolutely incredible during my two pregnancies (one of which I'm in the middle of) I am set up for regular massages (every 2-3 weeks) with an adjustment afterwards which have help relieve my lower back pain from the weight of the baby. I saw Dr. Ploy for chiropractic services and Angela for massage and I attribute the services of both to why I had such a short labor! After my son was born, we discovered that he had torticollis, an asymmetric jaw and facial nerve palsy. Dr. Ploy was able to resolve the torticollis within a few weeks and we've been working with Dr. Petitclerc since to help with the jaw and palsy - and we're finally seeing results, which is such a relief. I've been coming here for about two months now. I've had three chiropractor appointments and three prenatal massage appointments. Overall, I do recommend the location and will continue going for prenatal massages. Cons: - The first appointment is a required consultation, but they perform no manipulation and provide no services. However, they still charge you the full price of one regular manipulation session. Since this only happens one time, it's more of a mild annoyance than a long term deal breaker. - I found the prices for Chiropractor services to be a bit higher than I've found elsewhere. My two appointments with chiropractic manipulation lasted less than five minutes. However, it cost the same price as a one hour prenatal massage. I think I get my money's worth through the massage appointments. - You cannot stack appointments. If you want to get an adjustment and a massage, you have to book appointments on different days. - For my first prenatal massage, the therapist was running 15 minutes late but still ended on time. I will continue watching the clock in the future to see if this was a one time thing or if it's a recurring trend. Pros: - Great location and easy to access! - The staff are very friendly and quick to respond to questions and emails. - The office is very clean and has a nice, relaxing presence. They even have a water and tea station in the reception area & a kids play area. - The office is really good about working with your health insurance to submit paperwork and claims for your appointments. Never ever let a chiropractor manipulate your neck. The last time I was seen here years ago, I was the last appointment of the day before they closed. Once I sat in my car, I had tingling and then numbness through my shoulder. I was afraid to go back. I changed jobs and lost health coverage, and now I'm in pain in my neck up through my head and across my shoulder almost every day, sometimes with shooting pain or numbness down through my arm to my fingertips in certain range of motion. I've had recurring back problems for years.. I spent 10 years beating the heck out of myself in every way playing 4 sports year round. I throw my back out once or twice a year on average, and it typically takes me up to a month to get to where I can really move around again. This time however, I threw my back out a week and a half before my wedding. I was in a bit of a panic to make sure I could actually -walk- down the isle so I gave in and scheduled a chiropractor appointment with west university wellness. Not only were they extremely helpful trying to figure out exactly what was wrong, they had me walking better the first day. Over the next week I came in every couple days for treatment and by my wedding I was feeling almost back to normal.. easily 3-4x faster than it would take for me to even be mobile otherwise. This place is amazing. I'm 41 weeks l pregnant and my midwife and doula recommended this place to me as I have some issues during my pregnancy. Started my Chiropractor & Acupuncture appointments (twice appointments a week) with Dr. Long. She is amazing, she knows what is doing and explains everything to you and always smiling. I have my acupressure with Dr. Ploy who's is amazing too and targeted then right point which make me feel very comfortable afterward. I did my labor massage with Angela who's is very professional and targeted the points to speed up my labor which left me relaxed... love it and definitely I will keep going to this place.
