We had an old house that had some seriously neglected siding so we wanted someone who knew how to deal with the challenge. Kevin and his team were magicians- they fully restored the exterior back to its original glory, filling holes and, at our request, removing a couple obsolete exterior fixtures from decades prior. They use the good stuff here. I looked into the caulking, primer and exterior paint that he uses and it's all top notch stuff. No generic stuff to cut costs here. I didn't need to specifically ask for the top notch stuff, it's just what they use, which impressed me alot. Kevin doesn't just know paint, he's extremely knowledgeable about what makes a house look gorgeous so he was able to offer up awesome ideas, such as putting stained wood under our porch ceiling for extra wow factor. In another instance he recommended a better trim color than what we originally planned on, which absolutely makes the house. Kevin's also super easy to work with and fun to talk to. His response times are spot on, communication was excellent, and when we had a last-minute color change (our fault) he was surprisingly easy going about it which calmed our nerves and made for a great overall experience. We now believe our 70 year old house probably looks better now than it looked when it was new! I would absolutely recommend Westerlund Painting for any painting project. read more

I hired Westerlund Custom Painting last April to stain the redwood on my redwood and recently stuccoed house after reading their excellent reviews. My experience confirmed the experience of others regarding both their craftsmanship and interpersonal professionalism. They checked all the boxes one would wish of a contractor from preparation to clean up. Kevin promised that he would not take payment until I was completely satisfied and he was, to say the least, good to his word. It is on this point in particular that I commend him and his crew for your consideration. Due to my house having a stucco rather than painted stucco finish we ran into complications despite reasonable precautions. The redwood required pressure washing with a brightening and cleaning product and hand sanding prior to stain application. The stucco area was tarped prior to washing but unfortunately, a few leaks bleached the porous stucco. I didn't even need to complain as Kevin took responsibility and hired a stucco subcontractor to refinish the surfaces with some remaining stucco I had on hand. This made matters worse so Kevin suggested a Kelly more "stain" in the same color as plan B. Paint was not acceptable. After application of a test patch, the match was seamless. Several large stucco areas were stained and everything was as good as the original. This was all done at Kevin's expense. I imagine Kevin took a financial loss on this job and I was impressed that he did it without a whimper or complaint. My experience speaks volumes for Kevin's integrity and professionalism and why I commend him to any future client. I also compliment Victor, the site foreman and Micheal who did all the rdewood staining for their workmanship and pleasant demeanors. They were stedy and meticulous worker and good company for the job during. read more

Kevin and his crew were great. They painted three interior rooms and a hallway and the entire exterior of the house for less than another company quoted just the exterior. Their prep work was immaculate. The bathroom ceiling had major patching and they managed to make it smooth. We also had some rot spots from water damage, and they replaced those so that you'd never know they'd been repaired. They came every weekday right at 7:00am and worked till 4:00pm, and also work Saturday from 7:00am to noon. (Something we didn't expect the first Saturday, so check with Kevin to make sure you're not surprised. :-) ) The work exceeded our expectations and we couldn't be happier. We called and scheduled an appointment for yesterday at 8am. The person who was supposed to come out text to reschedule after the appointment time. That was inconvenient but it happens, so we rescheduled for today. This morning another text came through that simply said "I'm sorry, I'm really busy". Thinking that it was text apologizing for being late my husband waited as long as he could. We have jobs so sitting around all day waiting for mysterious texts to come through isn't really an option. We sent a text asking if anyone planned to show up at all and received nothing back. Due to some unfortunate circumstances and bad timing, my husband, 4 month old baby, and I had to move into our not-100%-completed home. The entire interior (2,300 sq ft) had been primed but not painted. Kevin and his crew came in and did an amazing job, fixing drywall seam issues and painting (Level 5) our new home. I was very lucky to find Westerlund Painting on Home Advisor. I liked Kevin ( the owner ) from our first conversation. I have 2 rental units that I needed to be prepped and painted . One unit had to be primed due to cigarette smoke and the other due to cats for 9 years. Kevin and his guys knew exactly how to make both units look and smell like brand new. I met with him on a Monday and they started the job on Wednesday. They work really fast and do excellent work. Not only did they paint for me but they hung new light fixtures , hung shower doors and repaired the kitchen grout. Kevin was so helpful and willing to help me do anything I asked. They do tons outside painting too- they replaced a door that had to be resized, so built a section of wall into a doorway. You would never know it had been a different size. Kevin and his team did an exceptional job painting our two story home on the peninsula. The workers were very prompt, efficient in their work with great attention to detail. It looks like a brand new house and even the City inspector commented and asked who the painter was. He called daily to check in and make sure we were happy with the work done so far. They deserve 10 stars! They sanded down the chipped paint, primed the whole house, and painted it beautifully. Victor and his guys even built custom shutters to keep the character of the original home. They replaced wood that was rotten too. I will NEVER EVER HIRE this company again. Kevin Westerlund is very, very unprofessional. He over commits to his customers but can't deliver. For the first job - we hired him to do the exterior painting in our house and some more home improvement inside the house. We had a lot of ups and downs but for the benefit of the doubt, I hired him again for the 2nd time. For the 2nd job - I hired him to start on a Wednesday at 7 am and he agreed. I explained to him that we were on a time restrictions because our new carpet are scheduled for installation that Saturday. Came Wednesday morning... no Kevin and his crew, no show. I finally got a text from him at 7:30 am and telling me that they have some few things to touch up from e previous job in Newark, CA will be at my house mid morning to late mid. I responded to his text and told him not a problem. I sent another text at around 10:40 AM and asking him what time I will be expecting them and he responded to me "We're just finishing up, we should be the by 12 noon" I responded again and told him "We are losing half day worth of work and I'm afraid it will not be done till Saturday and I don't want to extend the job till Monday". This time he never responded back. At exactly 12:43PM I got another text from him..."We're on our way to have lunch, will be there after and I will do my best to finish by Saturday". This time my husband finally have decided to cancel the job completely. My husband tried to call him 4X but he never picked up the phone. So instead he sent a text telling him to cancel the job. I don't know if he didn't read my husband's text but he still showed at my door at almost 2 PM. My husband called him on the phone and told him he already sent him a text and cancelled the job and not to worry we will no longer be using him for any project. Kevin sent me another text and he got the audacity to tell me he was not happy of us cancelling the job. I responded to him and told him I don't need to elaborate why I cancelled the job since he already knew the answer. He is very poor in communicating, he should have told me a day before and at least I should have completely understood his situation. Our experienced with him was a complete nightmare. read more
