The studio is really cute and it's small classes of 6. The first class is about two hours and she goes step by step on how to get your clay on your wheel and how to make a bowl. I believe there are different classes to make other objects and for the more advanced. It's definitely harder than I expected but Lauren would help get your piece back to being something after you mess up a time or two. You make four pieces. Second class you have two hours to paint your pieces. And then a couple weeks later you pick up your fired bowls, plates, or whatever came out. Easy to get to, side street parking. We had such a blast and we can't wait to do it again & bring our friends.

She…read moreshowed me all the different kinds of things she makes in her studio - it's filled with lovely plates and bowls and pieces for jewelry. She then explained the different kinds of glass, showed me how to cut glass, and answered all of my MANY questions. With her help, I assembled what will become a glass bowl - a sheet of clear glass with colored glass placed on top of it in a pattern - she has LOTS of different kinds and colors of glass. Then I placed another sheet of clear glass on top. Erica carefully placed it in the kiln where it stayed for 30 hours! She sent me photos of it when it came out - it's a flat solid sheet, and it's gorgeous! Now she'll place it in a mold and put it in the kiln again to heat just enough for it to slump into a bowl shape. I can't wait!

La Cueva Blu was one of my favorite studios that I visited. The two space is shared by two fantastic artist, I think they were husband and wife collaborating their work in one large space. The painting were high end gallery material, and the sculpture that was being worked on by the artist would look just awesome in any home including mine. The energy level inside this studio and the amount if creativity here, is a must to check out by all visitors. I saw they also hold classes, one more reason to come back to this fantastic artist studios.

Later, Sandy Sereno expressed interest in buying back these paintings. We reached an agreement where she would repurchase them, but when it came time to fulfill her side of the contract, she breached the agreement -- she was only to pay pennies on the dollar I paid her. I am sharing this so that other collectors, artists, and dealers can be cautious when entering into buyback or resale agreements with this artist. In my experience, she did not honor the terms we had agreed upon.

The art is fantastic but the management of the buildings is piss poor. This is a retirement home for artists perfect if you want no noise or life at all past dark. If you rent from then likely they will take every penny of your deposit. Do not trust them! I rented from them and they just took my whole deposit after telling me to leave paint and other things just so they could pay their contractors to do it for 10x the price it would of cost me. Its criminal. I suggest if you rent or do any business with management you record every conversation. All that said, the people who live there are amazing individuals but even then its not worth dealing with the corporate lackeys running the place. read more

As a Resident artist of the lofts I will say this is the most inspirational creative live/work environment I have seen to date. The studios are teaming with such unique talents. It's very homey in the studios. The layout is super funky so you can just wander and see where your feet and eyes take you. So much talent crammed in this warehouse from fibers to music, painting to pottery it's all in here. Every First Saturday of each month they open their doors to the public so you can stroll around and pick out lovely works of art to bring back for yourself or friends and family. I mean, I've never actually went in any of the stores here because 1) parking sucks. 2) the stores seem to never be open. 3) There is always stores changing hands so you never know whats there. 4) I would likely get sucked in to peddlers rather than trying to figure out what to look at. I guess they could do better advertising or have better retail hours (like during the times most other folks are not working). Just a thought. I don't know how a string of 3 or 4 storefronts constitutes a "district" in little old Haverhill, but I wouldn't give anyone false high hopes that this place is "hip"
