I booked a taxi via their app and was quoted £15 for a journey of 6-7 miles which seemed reasonable (to me). 15 minutes before the taxi was meant to turn up I got a call from Western Cars telling me that the fare was going to be £30! I have never met such a rude taxi driver before! We were at a camping site and booked the taxi service to Tunbridge Wells train station. Our camping organiser posted the taxi service price on their website and it was £12-£13 fare. We ended up being charged for £35!!! The driver arrived early and phoned me to say he was waiting for us in the car park. He was very impatient. I told him we would be there in about 10 minutes. However on our way to the car park, the gate to the car park was locked. We had to wait 5 minutes for the farmer to open the gate. As such we were about 5 minutes late. We apologised to him and explained the situation. He was very angry at us and kept saying he had other bookings later on. This was his comment "That is your problem. I am going to charge you for being late!" Seeing that we were 2 women and a child, he did not even help us with our luggage. He must have forgotten that he is in the service industry. Perhaps we were merely cattles to be transported from point A to point B! No customer service is required. Throughout the 30 minutes journey he did not speak to us but kept moaning that we were late and checked his mobile phone every now and then. When we reached Tunbridge Wells train station, he told us the fare was £35 including the late charge and luggage charge. We asked for the breakdown he just mumbled and acted like he was in a hurry to leave. It was raining and we just wanted to get on our train. Again he did not help us to unload our luggage nor did he thank us. No point in arguing with a rude person. A review is definitely a more effective channel than a telephone call or email complaint. This is the main taxi service my Fiancé and I use. 90% of the time, it's been alright service. A few times it's been late, or THEY'VE been early and charged US for it. We have one particular driver that's our favourite, an Irish man. He's great. Whenever my Fiancé gets a lift somewhere and I'm not around, he always asks how I am too! Always very nice when the driver is polite and enjoys chatting. However more recently there's been a new woman that answers the phone. She is very rude! When you explain where you're going (One time I said Jubilee Community Centre) she says What, on so and so road? And she says I'll send it now and hangs up the phone! We pre booked a car for my cousins wedding at an agreed cost of £25, approx. 30 minutes before the car was due to arrive they called and told us the cost would be increased to £40 with no reasoning! When we protested and highlighted they would be leaving my disabled sister stranded, they cancelled the car on us! We had specifically booked a vehicle that could fit her wheelchair so we did not have this issue!! My sister was mortified as she couldn't get another cab or find a way home. Watching your sister crying inconsolably at what should be a happy occasion was heartbreaking and quite frankly a day ruiner. The fact you would do this to a vulnerable customer is unacceptable and unforgivable. You simply should not be in business and I will personally be contacting local press, the council and Licencing companies and anyone that will listen to me about your awful practices. I booked a trip days in advance at an agreed cost for 2 car return and got confirmation by email. My cars did not turn up on the day and I when I called they said they tried to call an hour before pick up as the price could not be honoured now it would be twice as much. I landed and called to see where the car would pick me up from and was told that the price would be 30% higher, and was also told that I was left a voicemail while I was on the plane to explain this. went to Lingfield Races on 26/07/14 from newchapel by Western cars. phoned at 10.30pm for a pick up to go home.We were told it would be 20 mins. and I said I would wait outside the main gate which we did straight away. 1 hour later I phoned to find out where our car was,only to be told the driver telephoned us and there was no answer.This was clearly a lie as I had a full service and there were no missed calls on my phone.When I told the operator this he promised to get a car to us in 5 mins. 30 mins. later I phoned again to be told that,yes they had my booking but there were no cars available resulting in a long walk home. Wish I had driven now as I didn't drink all evening.The whole enjoyable evening was spoilt by the incompetance of an obviously 2 bob cab company.Will never use or recommend these muppets again. read more

I'd just like to say to western cars but in particular to the lovely lady who actually hung up on me on the 6th call of the night, you're entirely useless and I hate you. Why you ask because at two in the morning I called them, they answered and said they'd be there in 5 minutes. Happily I hung up and waited 20 minutes before calling again. The lady said sorry but not to worry. 2 hours and 5 calls later I was still waiting and partially dead because it was freezing. On the 6th call when the lady heard my voice she hung up. Pre-booked a 7 seater cab to pick us up from the airport after our holiday (2 adults & 3 children). Called them when we landed at 02:00 hrs, and arranged where they wanted to pick us up. Shortly afterwards the driver rang me and told me that he didnt have a 7 seater, and if i still wanted to be picked up I would have to pay for another cab. Quite a long conversation where I explained that I believed that I should not have to pay for an extra cab etc, he stated that unless I agreed to this extra charge (£15) he would not pick us up.. I had no choice but to agree to pay or my family would be standed. 20 mins later, another call, from him saying that they were parked some distance away, and told me that the second cab was not going to come and pick us up unless I now paid £20. When they actually arrieved the driver I had been speaking to refused to let me into his cab because he was concerned that I would continue the argument with him. On the journey home, along the motorway, the driver drove at over 80 mph, And I had to ask him to slow down several times. Please do not use this company. read more

This is the worst taxi company I have ever used! I rang a month in advance to take 31 people to Lingfield Races from 3 pick up points. We were told that we would get mini buses...only one 6 seater arrived and the rest were cars. They were nearly half an hour late picking us up...and didn't send enough cars so some people were left behind and had to wait another 20 minutes for another car to arrive making them nearly an hour late! The driving was pretty horrendous on the way there. They were completely unorganised! I rang them during the evening to double check that they were picking us up from the correct meeting point which they confirmed that they were but they didn't turn up leaving us all stranded at Lingfield! When we were trying to ring them to find out where our taxis were they either didn't pick up the phone but when they did they just hung up on us. We had to find our own way home which was a complete nightmare! There were also lots of other people that had booked cars with them that were also stranded. I rang the office when I finally managed to get home and they basically took no responsibility trying to blame Lingfield Park which is rediculous as it was nothing to do with them. AVOID THIS FIRM AT ALL COSTS! I used this firm and agreed a huge cost for two drop offs. We paid the agreed fee and were dropped off first. When the Western Cars driver reached the second drop off point he told the two remaining passengers, two elderly ladies, that he hadn't been paid for the second drop off and hoodwinked them into paying £20. Western Cars have refused to apologise or refund the £20 which their driver tricked these ladies into paying. Don't use this firm! read more

I booked a cab nearly 2 months before needing it and was quoted £18 which seemed right as I live 6 miles from my destination and it usually costs me £15 for a normal size car but this time I needed a 6 seater. The cab arrived 3 mins early and the driver was great, helped with all our suitcases. When we arrived he unloaded the cases again and I handed him £20 and said keep the change, he then looked uncomfortable and said it wasn't enough and the fare was £28 and showed me the booking they have on his phone which showed £28. He said the controller had tried to contact me to tell me the quote was wrong and I hadn't answered so they left me a message telling me which I told the driver I hadn't received. He was very good and told me it was up to me what I paid and although I was very annoyed we gave him £5 more as he was very good and it wasn't his fault and he was the one losing out. Used this company twice now. I was charged 2 different amounts for the exact same journey, both of which I was overcharged based on their quote from exact postcode to exact postcode on their website. The first time the driver was late by 35 minutes, the second time the driver was late by a whole 50 minutes. Overall useless if you need to be either picked up or dropped off anywhere at any specific time. Great if you like rude taxi drivers. Won't be using again. read more

We booked a cab for New Years Eve (last night) in November thinking Western Cars would be booked up so get a booking in early. We got the confirmation booking text for pick up to and from our destination so thought everything was sorted. Yesterday morning we called just to re-confirm and were told no booking existed. After an apology a new booking was placed for a 7pm pick up with another text to confirm. At 7:15pm still no car had shown up and when called Western Cars said there was no booking. Finally a car turns up at 7:40 and takes us to our restaurant. We confirm a 2:30am pic up to take us home. At just after mid night we call to change booking to 1am and are told a driver will be there then. At 1am we're told he's running 10-15 minutes late so at 1:10 we wait out side. At 1:25 still no show. Tried calling all 4 numbers including the Edenbridge Taxis number which is same company and numbers are either engaged or no one available at this time. This goes on for the next HOUR AND 15 minutes. Finally someone answers and we're told that someone came to pick us up at 1:15am but no one answered the cab drivers call (no missed call or message on phone). We are then told it's not that a car turned up its that western cars aren't sure what's happened. At this point we give up and book a 3am pick up with another company. NEVER EVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY. I repeat NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY as they will only let you down read more
