We had great conversations and they made some excellent local recommendations. They have an amazing place and take great care of their guests. It's directly across from the zoo, close to town and the airport (about 10 minutes from each). The delicious breakfast provided is served in a gorgeous room and made us feel special just being in there.This really was an beautiful B&B, the room was very comfortable, and extremely clean. The interior design and attention to detail is too fabulous to describe and the beds were huge and very comfortable. They could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. The staff was very…read morefriendly and helpful, and David gave us a great quick explanation on the places to visit around the city, along with a handy city map. They had no problem with us checking in a bit earlier than expected. The location is a stone's throw away from the main attractions and has a nice choice of pubs and restaurants quite close (I personally recommend The Dogs, The Queens Arms and Eteaket). The bedroom was also lovely, the bed was comfortable and the boiler with tea and coffee to brew in the bedroom was a nice touch to warm our bones from the nice Edinburgh weather. There's a common living room with books and DVDs. You can take the DVDs to your room, where you have a DVD player. The breakfast was served at the next-door restaurant: Rick's, and while the food was good, the service on one of the days was a bit shabby. We had to wait a lot for our order and half of it was forgotten, the staff seemed like they were having a collective bad day. It's not the best choice if you want to grab something quickly and be on your way to explore the city. Anyway, I'd totally recommend this place and I'll definitely stay here again when going back to Edinburgh. It's very good value for money and a pleasant experience. A bit off-topic: If you love cats - like me - you'll be delighted to know Tessa has a beautiful big cat that you can sometimes spot at her office or around the reception.

A really nice guy, always ready for a chat and paying attention to details. He serves a splendid breakfast and if you choose the full scottish breakfast option you are in for a really good start for the day. Don't miss the haggis on your plate btw! David has a bag full of stories to tell and lot's of useful hints for exploring the city. We found our room to be clean, comfortable and well equipped with a kettle, tea, coffee, water and bisquits. Very handy came the many AC outles and the free WiFi. The double glassing of the windows bannes the traffic noise pretty good and we slept perfectly well. Special mention for the powerful hairdryer, get's you dry in no time. Thank you Dave!

This establishment is in a quiet residential street and you are guaranteed an excellent nights' sleep, despite it's situatation so close to shops and transport. The rooms are warm and comfortable, with Freeview TV and good lighting. The breakfast room is bright and airy and the fresh home-cooked breakfasts set you up nicely for the day. You are given your own keys so you can come and go as you please, and the number 27 bus stop (which takes you right through the city to Silverknowles) is immediately outside the front door. Other bus routes round the corner take you to Princes Street and the main shopping centres. Tollcross nearby boasts an excellent selection of restaurants, pubs, cinemas and theatres as well as a handy convenience store. We return to the Armadillo again and again whenever we visit Edinburgh - such a lovely place and such a warm welcome.
