My review is based on a family experience with a rental car.
We've been in room #2 for 6 nights, so your experience may vary.
Families have other priorities than couples or singles, please keep that in mind while reading.
Edwina and Maurice are just amazing hosts and the premises are clean, cosy and inviting.
Our room was really practical and we were to able to store our stuff easily.
The full Irish breakfast and the coffee from the french press are delicious. You have lots of options for (ripe!) fruit, cornflakes, yoghurt and more.
Breakfast variants are always possible! Just ask.
I even had some black pudding after I asked for it.
The surrounding area and the small town of Oughterard is just great.
You can walk to a great pub in 2 minutes and have a dinner with traditional food and music there. Fancy a Pizza? 2 minutes walk, next door!
We needed a laundry service sometimes and that was just on the other side of the street as well. Shopping is easy in Oughterard - you can get food and souvenirs just along the main street.
A few minutes away is also a playground for small and big children =)
A lot of other places are within a short distance to drive and the Connemara region has so much to offer for kids and adults. If you're into hiking the "Western Way" start just around the corner (hence the name of the B&B).
A wonderful beach - I compared it to the Bahamas - is just a 40 minute drive away ("Dogs Bay", Roundstone).
Our hosts always had great tips for us which places were worth a visit and where to stop for dinner.
After a long day we were able to relax in the TV lounge which was cosy and full of books.
We will definitely stay there again to see more of the Connemara region! read more
