This shopping centre have recently upgraded a previous parking space making room for more retail stores to get in and for that it is a nice welcome. This place serves the needs and demand of the surrounding Eastern Melbourne Suburbs region and it seems to be crowded enough to see that it is doing financially good as well. They have as far as I can think of a range of cafes, restaurants, Coles, a fresh fruit and veggie market, Village cinemas, Specsaver, Westpac Bank, Commonwealth Bank, Krispy Kreme and lots of other retail shops. So should you expect a top of the line shopping experience (DON'T), should you expect a decent shopping experience without driving for one hour to do a grocery list or have a coffee (YES). read more

Known as the spiritual home of those noice ladeees from (fictional) Fountain Lakes, Kath and Kim, Fountain Gate shopping centre actually exists and is about as boganista chic as it is portrayed on the beloved Kath and Kim series. Fountain Gate has pretty much every mid-priced chain store a teenage girl could dream of, a few plus-size boutiques, fast food outlets galore and a Village Cinema to boot. I never shop here for anything of significance but often duck in if I need to pick up a basic item or am looking for a bargain of the Big W/K Mart persuasion. Best avoided on Saturday's, when you are likely to be crushed by suburbs-full of pimply teenagers just hangin around. read more

I think people's association with Kath and Kim to this place really affect their opinion of it. Remember; Kath and Kim is fictional but FG is a real shopping centre and it's a good one. It has everything you need really and the new Myer is huge so that's definitely a draw card. It's not somewhere I have had to go often, only for work but it's a decent place to grab what you need if you live there or you're passing through. So many shopping centres everywhere, they're all pretty much the same to me. Just my personal opinion anyway. Look at moi....Look at moi. Head down there. I have no idea what it's like at Christmas time - I can't stand busy shopping centres when I'm just trying to get a few little things. Grrrrr! So frustrating. read more

I used to come to fountain gate every few months or so when I was living down on the Peninsula, whenever I had to go to the doctors (in Berwick). What can I say about Fountain Gate. Well, not much. The fact that it's in Narre Warren should be reason enough to stay away. As previously mentioned, it's best known as the the local dig for Kath and Kim. Though interestingly the scenes inside 'Fountain Gate' were actually filmed at Southland. Fountain Gate is okay. Nothing special, but it has most of the necessities, but it's not something I'd go out of my way to go to. read more

If you need stuff and you are nearby, then this is a decent option. But it isn't one that I'd go out of my way for, or recommend to anyone to do the same. It's really very ordinary, and Knox isn't that far away, so do yourself a favour and go there instead. And if you know me, you'll know that to recommend Knox to anyone is absolutely the last thing I'd want to do. You've got pretty much most of the necessities here, and if you're a local, then you'll probably grab your groceries here. But you'll wish that there was somewhere better, closer. And I'm sure one day there will. But until that day, you'll just have to cope with this terrible shopping centre. Hell, I gave Vermont South a better review. read more
