The thing that really grabbed me about this place is that they actually have a section where there are market stalls. Look, honestly, shopping centres really don't come anywhere close to the charm of the main street, but they do have a purpose. Like many of the Westfields, you pretty much know what you are going to get here, though the issue that I had was that sometimes getting out in certain directions (such as a direction that doesn't involve the bus stop) requires you to maneuver your way through a car park, so yes, this place really isn't all that pedestrian friendly. read more

Garden City's not my local, but every now and then we drive there for a change of scenery. It's big and busy and has a different feel to some of the other Westfield's in Brisbane. Take the piazza area, for example; Dicey Riley's in the afternoons and evenings is always buzzing with loud and happy people taking in the afternoon sun in the beer garden; Toscani's al fresco dining is doing a roaring trade and the cinema is attracting a crowd. Inside, there are some places we don't see in the other centres, small one-off clothing boutiques and jewellery stores, and big box retailers like Toys R Us, so yep, Garden City's worth a visit every now and then just to keep up and make sure we're not missing out on anything. read more

I work at Carindale. Garden City is by far beating my love for little old C'dale.. And for ya'll who have seen C'dale know I'm making a big call. So here's the deal: it's bigger, it's better, it's shinier, it's way high tech, and guys let's face it, it has a Starbucks. Specialty shops are pretty dang special. The ones you travel to the CBD for? Yep, they're there too. Hey and there are multiple food courts: 1 outside, one inside AND a freakin' china town inspired "street" INSIDE OF THE SHOPPING CENTRE. Is this real life?! Is this the future?! Yes. It is. Guys, girls, mums, dads, you need to see this. Even the trollies have cup holders. If this isn't your shopping destiny I don't know what is. Valet parking is available for fancy folk, 3 free hours are available for the rest of us ;) There's a carwash, there's a KMart, there's an officeworks. I mean there's even bean bags inside the centre so you can chill out with earlier mentioned Starbucks. I'm in. I'm so in for (another) shopping trip. Ps. Bring a jumper because it gets cold inside. I have been going to Garden City for the past 18 years since moving to Brisbane. It was my post office, grocer, chemist as well as a place to shop in general. Now that I am getting my mail delivered to my home, any of many centers would be convenient to me. But what kept me returning regularly to Garden City was a great little used book store, The Book Cafe. It was a concern when a generic chain bookstore was opened right next door to them last year, and this week, my fears for them were confirmed: their lease was up and not to be renewed. The "new" Garden City is indeed big and pretty. But without shops such as The Book Cafe, it is really just another version of every large shopping centre. Shame on you Westfield! read more

Westfield's received a lot of bad rap this month after instigating paid parking at Chermside, with rumours of Carindale and Garden City to follow suit. Despite its many shortcomings, I think there are a lot of good things about Westfield Garden City that people take for granted. For starters, it's convenient to have a large shopping centre hub 12 km out from the centre of town. It's not a shopaholic's paradise but I'm surprised at how many designer brands are actually stocked if you do the research. David Jones even carries a selection from my favourite designer Alannah Hill. Another thing about Westfield Garden City - it's incredibly shopping friendly for mums with kids and people who are mobility impaired. There are ramps and lifts and disabled parking all conveniently spaced out between the upper and lower levels. Speaking of convenience, the location of Westfield Garden City makes it the perfect hub for the Garden City Busway, without which many south siders would be stranded in the city on a Friday and Saturday night after clubbing and city workers wouldn't have the luxury of a fifteen minute commute to the city. So while the parking continues to be free, I intend to spend at least some time doing my Christmas shopping at Westfield Garden City this year. read more

Even with all new renovations for the past 2 years this place is loaded with great restaurants! I love Mo's Burritos especially because the food and service is so high-quality. I always take the train so the new parking structure doesn't affect Uni students overall. They have several great places to eat and a full movie theater so I say go for it- you won't regret it! Shopping here is great at Westfield Garden City! My favorite mall overall in Brisbane. read more

Awesome shopping center, lots of variety especially for clothes and has a great food court (awesome sushi) a cinema and a nice row of restaurants outside for dinner after a big day of shopping. read more

Music is way to loud in the shopping centre and non of it is Christmas music. Not good for people who have problems with hearing

Westfield Garden City is an okay place to shop... Since renovations... I still prefer Indooroopilly Shopping Centre. But yes, Garden City has a lot better shops than what they used to! I'd love to go again :) Much better than Mt Ommaney or Carindale. I've been to Carindale a few times and I hated it... I got bored at Carindale instantly. I much prefer Garden City and Indooroopilly as they have both been renovated and extended. Although. It's generally hard and difficult to find a car park at Garden City, and Indooroopilly. But Garden City now has H&M which I think is pretty cool. Oh and I love the Kmart at Garden City !!!!! So much nicer to shop at that end of the centre. I love it !!! The only thing that puts me off at Garden City is the amount of traffic on Logan Road & Kessels Road ( surrounding streets ). Then there is traffic in the car park. And I tend to find that Saturday is the busiest day at Garden City. read more
