Lifts to each platform are good for the mobility impaired (like me when I busted my ankle that time) and most each platform is under cover which will keep you dry when it's raining. With only four platforms though, the real question will be how it will continue to handle the growth of western Sydney. This station can be a nightmare at peak hour already.

On the north side of the station is a great Chinese restaurant that opened in 2012. Forgot the name of it, but remember their roast duck was ono. It's really big so you can't miss it. If you are heading west from Sydney, you can get the Jetcat catamaran from Circular Quay and walk up to Parramatta station at the jetcat terminus on the river. Takes a little longer, but what a nice ride along the Parramatta River.

Although the transport website claims they've only been in operation since earlier this year, I think it was just called something else previously. I'm pretty sure this was the first free bus loop in Sydney, and I remember going on it for the first time quite a few years ago. It goes from the interchange at the train station to Argyle and Macquarie Streets west, up O'Connell, past the Leagues Club to north Church Street, Prince Alfred Park, Lennox Bridge, Phillip Street, Parramatta Wharf (where you can catch the Rivercat), Charles and Macquarie Street and back to the interchange again. Phew. Actually, the whole loop only takes about 25 minutes, so you can jump on anywhere and get to anywhere you want in pretty darn quick time. I'm all for walking, but to save some weary feet and to keep cars off the road, this is a fantastic initiative for the community and tourists alike. The driver of one I caught the other day seemed a little harried at the other less-than-perfect vehicular operators on the road, for which the solution, I think, is more buses. More free ones. Yay.

I can't believe how this place has built up with HUGE residential buildings. The Harris Park railway station is on the Western line. It opened up in 1883. Nowadays there are four rail tracks and two island platforms. Always wondered why there was a station here as it's so close to Parramatta. Still wonder that today. It's more than a stone's throw, but less than an RPG. Were palms greased in the late 1800's? Did an influential person have a house here? Did people want a shorter walk to Marion Street? (most will miss this reference). Perhaps we will never know. Can't believe I'm reviewing this place. Of course I don't have a picture. Are you kidding me?

Well signposted it was easy to find Stand 3A. There was shelter from rain, there were seats and the buses came as per schedule. I switched to a different bus route when something suitable came through, to get me out of the cold. Good to see that sometimes a bus might get me closer to my destination than a train.

There is a courtyard with two levels of seating and at least two different rooms inside. As others have said, they do seem to cater to smokers, but we were able to find a spot that was pretty much smoke free in the courtyard. It was quite busy as we arrive about 5:30 and there were a lot of locals that appeared to have just gotten off work and were enjoying drinks. It is near/in the CBD close to the train station. They have copper beer tanks which are supposed to be filled with fresh Carlton Draught beer directly from the brewery. I tried it, and it didn't seem to maker the beer any better. Maybe it does taste different, but I could not tell. They did have a good beer selection overall. What seems to be somewhat typical in the area, we ordered at the bar, and were give a buzzer to let us know when our food was ready. We then went and picked it up from the counter along with utensils. We had the Crispy Skin Pork Belly and the Crab ravioli Both were very tasty and exceeded our expectations. The only reason They get 4 instead of 5 stars is the smoking and that we didn't really finds a designated non-smoking area. I'd go there again.
