We reached out to you privately after this review and back in April when the mark appeared, but we feel that a public response is appropriate since you are challenging the integrity of the school's staff in a public forum. We in no way want to diminish your own feelings surrounding the unknown cause of a mark on your child. We know a mother doesn't ever want to think of her child being harmed. We certainly don't want any child to hurt either. A child's well-being is of the utmost importance to the staff and we feel due diligence by the school was taken. Although you declined having a sit-down with the teachers or being seen by a physician, we would still be willing to meet with you any time. However, I give this place two stars because my toddler (2 y/o) came home with a hand print on the inside of his tight. I decided to take him out of the school because nobody could explain to me what happened, not even the person responsible for changing his diapers. The fact that there was no explanation to this incident made me doubt the integrity of his teacher. It is unfortunate because I liked the school, but I rather focus on my child's safety.

Four year olds take a kindergarten readiness test, transfer students must be on grade level in reading and math. Students and parents sign a contract that states the student will follow the rules and complete all schoolwork. This school requires parental support. The expectations are high, and the academics are rigorous. Children learn, the teachers don't have to waste instruction time on disciplining behavior problems. Children who choose to misbehave are returned to their zoned school. CTWalker has a family atmosphere, parents are welcomed, the PTO is active, the teachers are excellent and the principal rocks! In addition to academics, Walker offers PE, drama, music and art. elementary students have recess daily.

She's was potty trained here. She was always LOVED to be her best self. Ms. MaryAnne and Mrs. Shanteka LOVE the kids so much. This is also an excellent learning facility. They also have super fun activities and mid and end of the year programs to showcase what the children have learned. In the days of Mr. Mike, he would bring in birds and other animals for the children to learn about. Mrs. Alana taught the kids structure and fundamental early learning things. My child learned to read and write in her room. I also appreciate the utilization of the nearby library. This is an excellent facility. I would argue one of the best kept secrets in Augusta. We were given a tour and told there was one spot left and one appointment after us. We were also told there were many on the waiting list, even some still pregnant. We were impressed with the tour, paid the application fee and curriculum fee on site, a total of $500. Upon starting, we paid the first month's fee of $750. Each day I was told he was struggling, crying all day, and did not want to participate. We decided after 5.5 days to withdrawal him. I wrote a polite email informing that we felt he was "not a good fit due to emotional maturity and age" (he was the youngest of the 3K students, although he was in daycare prior with no trouble). We also had other reasons, but kept that to ourselves and simply wanted to withdrawal. We were informed it would be a $750 withdrawal fee. I then voiced in a more detailed email why we decided to withdrawal. Instead of responding the principal immediately became defensive. I also voiced strongly that I felt that was highly unreasonable for 5.5 days of care. It seemed like I was dealing with pious used car saleswomen. They refused, and reiterated the need to cover the cost of an empty spot we were creating. We signed up in a hurry because there were supposedly so few spots ‍. ‍The principal reminded me how advanced their equipment is and that I should understand because I am a teacher. She also informed me that I didn't understand the kindness she had shown our son over the 5 days. She also said I should pay the fee because they were not asking us to leave. I'm also aware I signed paperwork in a hurry and was stuck- I was asking for a reasonable exception. She refused, we argued, and she reduced it to two payments of $250. I informed her that it should not be challenging to show kindness to a 3 year old. I also said that the systems obviously weren't sophisticated enough for her to read my email in its' entirety, and her kindness apparently costs $500. Long story longer, we end up paying a grand total of $1,750 for 5.5 days of care. They kept the curriculum and items we purchased for the classroom. We are both full time educators and were expected to drop everything and come help each day. Needless to say, our hunch was right from the start, it just wasn't a good fit. I'm happy to report he immediately found a new place and is thriving. He adjusted within the week and comes home happy. VCS, in my experience, does not consider feedback, does not listen, and takes advantage of families' resources. My purpose for this review is the hope it does not happen again.
