I had to endure 4 hours of testing for vertigo which is not fun and then I waited for another hour for him to see me. He was with me for 8 minutes. Yes you read that right!! EIGHT MINUTES! I have absolutely no complaints about the office staff and technicians. In fact I have praise for them, especially Tierney, Joe and Monica. They were lovely, gentle, patient, they explained everything about the tests. They were accommodating & supportive, knowledgeable and very professional. They were everything people who don't feel well would love to have at office appointments & in the hospital. Obviously I am not happy with my experience with Joseph Furman, MD PhD.

His testing technology for vestibular function and hearing is superior to other offices. I've visited similar doctors in Washington, DC, who pale in comparison. Dr. Furman was able to diagnose my condition in 1 day and get me into physical therapy that improved my quality of life. He even recommended me to other high-quality physicians for other medical problems that I was experiencing. Dr. Furman is caring and patient. He really listens. You're never rushed and you are never dismissed when you have questions or need things explained. I love that he is one of the last independent doctors around. He is not beholden to any big medical here! You're always given a detailed summary after your appointment kind of like a chronological progress report. His office staff is kind and funny. When you commit to being his patient you are rewarded by the practice going the extra mile for you and I'm always amazed at the personal details he can remember mannnny months later. He is like an old fashioned doctor in that he ends up knowing you so well and doesn't focus on rushing you out in a 10 minute maximum, again because he is still an independent practice. He is compassionate but in your best interest most of all and he's always happy to explain the science or evidence for his decisions. He has been my PCP for over six years and I really appreciate his time and care. Really smart guy! Be aware that some times he can run pretty behind--- because he gives all his patients the time they need with him and doesn't just "finish and walk out". He's worth it!

I went to his office on the recommendation of a friend, and was quite leery upon arrival due to the state of the town and the office (this was the dirtiest bathroom I've experienced in a healthcare setting, and of course the Mom Valley isn't a beacon of economic vitality by any means). However, as soon as I met with the Doctor, I realized he was fully engaged in my issue and was intently hunting for a diagnosis. My appointment was late in the day and he had squeezed me in, but he treated me like I was family. I was there for about 2 hrs and started to get antsy after an hour and a few brief consultations. Finally, at about hour 1.5, Dr Rach parades in with all of my medical history and ultrasound records ready to troubleshoot!! Mind you, I had not provided the information for my previous ultrasounds or doctor visits because frankly, I don't know where I had been since I'm new to this area. He spent all that time to look up this information on my behalf, analyzed it, studied me, then evaluated it! Who does that anymore?! I didn't leave until 6:30 pm. This doctor spent a lot of time trying to help me - he even stayed late into the evening. I don't know anything about medical school or what makes one doctor better than another, but I do believe that a doctor who is committed to solving a patient's problem is a damn good doctor. I've never had a doctor be this intent and scientific and committed. I highly recommend this guy. He will take care of you.

If you are going to Dr. Aljari for medical marijuana, I would not recommend him. First he will make…read moreyou do a drug test. So if you are already using marijuana, don't lie. Second, you pay $250 up front without knowing if you'll be approved. If it IS approved, you have to pay another $50 to the state for the actual card. It is not covered by insurance and it's not guaranteed that he'll prescribe medical marijuana, even if you have a documented history of symptoms. Third, if he does approve it, he has the option to give you a card for 3, 6 or 12 months. If he gives you less than a year, he will charge you $150 to resubmit your card. He may be a very good doctor but if your reason for seeing him is specifically to get MedMJ, it seems to me like he is using this as a way to make more money. If he is going to be one of the few doctors certified to prescribe, I wish his office would be more upfront about the costs.

He has a guy named mike on his staff I felt showed zero respect/courtesy/empathy for the practice's patients . I felt he was snobby and ignorant. For all I know he had a bad day and is normally a good guy. But the past 4 experiences made me feel as upmc should no longer purchase immunity from any political figures . Upmc should not be tax exempt, how can a corporation cause so many issues with strong arming it's rival hospitals . The only ones hurt are the patients who were displaced . Sad. But dr margolis came clutch for me twice so far.
