I was surprised to need root canals and crowns amounting to several thousand dollars. It sounded like alot of work was needed urgently to complete within the year. I have great dental insurance but want to avoid unnecessary procedures. Did they just want to use up the annual benefit? I come from a family of dentists back home (unbeknownst to DV). I have gone home again for cleanings ever since, and have a clean bill of health for gums, teeth, and everything. The next XRAYS showed NO problems. Maybe there was a mistake or misunderstanding about the root canals and crowns since I never had any before and my mouth still feels fine. Just saying I felt manipulated and did not schedule anything more (and will not go back).

They are still trying to get my Husband to do the procedure AGAIN! shaming him for not caring about his teeth when he refuses. Found out from another dental office that procedure was never ever needed in first place it is just a great way for a dental practice to gain revenue! I went to quirt and they pushed cosmetic stuff on me......would I like perfect teeth YES but can I afford them NO I can't and my teeth are not that bad anyway...they made be feel like a gargoyle for not being able to pay excessive amounts of $$ for perfect teeth. My issue with Midwest Dental is the constant sales pitch you need to endure. My husband and I tired of being "up-sold" every time we went in to get services that sometimes weren't covered by our insurance. Sure, $30 here and there out of pocket isn't the end of the world, but it can add up. I've never in my life had so many sales pitches aimed at me in a dental office. I felt like I was spending a lot of money on their recommendations such as the expensive sonic care toothbrushing system, the water pik, the Rx only toothpaste and mouthwash (sold at the dental office), the micronized minocycline pellets, the oral cancer screenings, the fluoride treatments, etc. I also needed to go in every 3 months rather than every 6. It wouldn't have been so bad, but EVERY TIME I was in that chair I felt like I was being sold on something else. I did once made a complaint on their website because their computer screen in the exam rooms was often open to the days appointments where I could, not only see patient's names and scheduled procedures, but the daily monetary goals. This made me feel like I was more of a dollar sign than a patient. I never heard back from Midwest dental when I sent my concern in on their website, but the next time I went in, the screen was turned off. My husband and I have decided that we're going to move on to a new provider. We love the good dental care we received at Midwest Dental in Weston, but we'd rather feel like patient's than $$'s.

We live outside of Minocqua Wisconsin. We had a dentist in Minocqua but we knew he was probably…read moregoing to retire so we decided to find a new dentist to satisfy our needs. We tried a few others in the area and we finally landed upon Northwoods Dentistry in Wooddruff (Minocqua). Although we are pretty good judge of our personal needs---this was a huge mistake. While customers of this dental clinic---and not for a very long time---we were charged for mistakes (a filling on my wifes tooth fell off---2 times) ..the first time the dental clinic took care of it. But the second time they wanted us to pay to reattach it---so i complained about that and said I didn't think that was right --they subsequently reversed the charges. Then one day-- I had a bad tooth ache--real bad---and I felt abandoned---no help for my pain. It was up to me to find relief. So I searched and searched and found a Dentist in Park Falls that gave me relief. But the real kicker---I had another tooth that was bad---I mean really really bad --although i am not a woman...I would have preferred giving birth than dealing with this pain. Again--i felt abandoned by Northwoods Dental Clinic of Minocqua. So I searched and searched on the web and landed upon Szmanda Dental Clinic in Wausau--it was about 6:30 pm and somebody actually answered the phone. I was treated with so much respect and empathy---they fit me in the next day and I was finally put out of my misery as Doctor Nichols and his staff --on the spot--- extracted the tooth that was giving me so much agony--thank you Szmanda Dentistry. More to the story: We decided to move all of our dental deeds to Szmanda Dentistry and Doctor Nichols-- my wife is kinda woosy when it comes to dentistry stuff---they treated her with kid gloves--she was very relaxed when we left. I was so relieved. so thank you Dr. Nichols and Staff--Brianna,,Hannah and Robin too.

She said their time is more important to fill their chairs and to make money. Didn't care if you're sick, dying or have problems in your life. They want to fill their seat and make money on the insurance. I also asked for copies of my records and she said that we can't send them to me or even to pick them up. According to American Dental Association of Wisconsin patient have the right to review, inspect, request, and obtain a copy of their records including radiographs.
