I understand this is likely caused by my teeth and individual mouth, but.... Each time you need a bond repaired it costs $100 for someone who is an established patient. This is great compared to some of the quotes I've received elsewhere. What is missing is some sort of advice or preventative measures/changes so I do not have to go through the cycle of having wires poke me in the mouth and coming in every year to get my retainer fixed. If this situation is unavoidable, some sort of 'frequent flyer' discount would definitely ease my troubled psyche.

He was a little nervous at first, but hygienists Susie and Mandy were so kind and personable that he warmed up pretty quickly. Doing these first appointments in a regular "meeting room" was much less intimidating than the "scary dental chair", which would have probably made our first visit a little different in a 2 year old's mind. Dr. Maggie is phenomenal! You can tell she and the hygienists have spent years in these roles with how educated they are in the child's world of dentistry. They made the teeth cleaning fun, talked to the many hurdles with diets for kids and keeping their teeth healthy, and gave me a good plan moving forward. Ever since our visit, my son likes to "play Dentist" at daycare and help the other kids brush their teeth and tells everyone about the slide. *Adorable* I HIGHLY RECOMMEND First Impressions in Weston for all families! Two of my children have been going to First Impressions for over two years now. I have tried my best to accept their policy of no parents in treatment areas and trust that, as they've told me, their staff all have special training in working with children with special needs. Both of my children are autistic and have sensory processing challenges making dental care an enormous challenge. I have asked repeatedly for help in helping my children with this challenge and the best they can tell me is to try different flavored toothpaste. As if we haven't tried every flavor on the market and every brand available including making our own. It seems they really know nothing about special needs children if they don't even have a single suggestion beyond changing flavors of toothpaste. In the 2+ years we've gone here, we've also only seen a doctor twice, once after their first appointment and once after one of the kids had a surgical procedure in the hospital under general anesthesia. I have no idea what goes on with the dentist but every time one of my children has treatments they come out in complete shutdown and refuse to speak of what has happened back there for hours if not days. After treatment today this child told me they brushed their teeth with a metal toothbrush and that it hurt so bad. I asked if the doctor and assistant knew it hurt because it shouldn't, that's why they numb it. The answer was "yes, they knew it hurt, I was crying so much mom and they wouldn't stop." My children are autistic and are not yet able to advocate for themselves. How can I possibly know they are getting what they need back there when I can't be there to help them learn to advocate for themselves by demonstrating? I do not feel like these practices are helping to create positive experiences for this child in any way which is supposedly the whole point of this policy.

After a week, the referral had still not been received by oral surgeon. When I called back to Dr. Lamansky, the office staff lied and said it had been sent. After many additional calls, the staff admitted that it had not been sent and had a lot of excuses about being understaffed and the dentist not being available. No apology was given. The attitude of the staff was unprofessional. The referral was given to a surgeon that was not covered by our insurance. When I asked for a different referral, they refused. There was no interest for the welfare of the 10 year old child that it was affecting. Very petty staff. I would never recommend this location to family or friends.
