Yet the level of care felt pretty basic, not above and beyond unfortunately. Plus I ended up with a massive bruise on my arm from getting my blood drawn which lasted for over a week. The front desk staff is extremely unprofessional and rude. They seem to be too busy chit-chatting and gossiping. Their phone lines are forever busy. You will need to wait almost an hour before someone answers the call. In addition, there is no guarantee that your scheduled appointment is actually scheduled. Their staff may forget to put the appointment in the system after they have told you that you have an appointment and its all your fault. If this was not right next to my house and if Dr. Cohen was not so nice, I would have switched a long time ago. I am extremely patient and can deal with a lot of incompetence, especially since Dr. Cohen is amazing, but, I guess its time to find a new practice.

Given my past two experiences and average +30min waiting time, I think it's the latter. (2) I called front desk to cancel the appointment already, somebody took down my name, DOB, appointment time, and who it was with. So next time before you call me and inquire about my "no-show", maybe you want to check with the front desk first to see if they are doing their job? Not going to come back.

It took more than 5 calls back and forth to actually be scheduled for an appointment because the person taking my info was unsure if they accepted Aetna, even though Aetna listed her as a PCP for my particular plan. When they finally confirmed, I was told the next appointment available was in 6 weeks. Although I was already annoyed, because of her reputation, I was willing to deal with it. I received a call this week to say that they would need to reschedule, even though my appointment is just a few days away. When I called to reschedule, the receptionist informed me that Dr. Gounder is no longer taking new patients. I stated that I had made this appointment 6 weeks ago to which she replied, with an attitude. "What do you want me to do about it?" Extremely unpleasant experience from start to finish. And now 6 weeks later, I have to start over to find a new pcp.

I remember once coming in to see Dr. Hentek with a chest and sinus infection. She saw me, gave me a perscription and left the office. When she came back in the exam room, she noticed I was in pain and couldn't stand. She asked me about it and wrote me a perscription for that as well. . Dr. Hentek saw that I was in pain and treated me for that distress. I'm thankful for her genuine concern. I realized that it didn't occur to me to ask her about anything for my back because I'd been told that the pain would pass by another physician and that I should just take Alieve. I'm a person of color and as such, I've experienced doctors who are hesitant to perscribe pain medication so I subconsiously didn't ask even though I was in the doctor's office. I have changed general physicians though. I had a visit with Dr. Hentek after I'd lost a significant amount of weight 30+ lbs. Dr. Hentek made a comment to me about making an effort to loose more. I shared my regiment and told her about the results I'd had in the previous months and instead of suggesting alternate options she just told me about the negative effects of excess weight and told me to loose more. Of course I have some idea of the negative effects of excess weight otherwise I wouldn't have embarked on the effort I did to loose the weight I had. Physically the doctor is larger than I am so I felt she should be a little more sensitive and construct in offering feedback on weightloss. I was pretty insulted so I'm no longer seeing Dr. Hentek. Women if you're a size 14 or above; you might want to see another doctor.

I obviously was a woman and was definitely chronically ill. Bloodwork proved it. No matter how bad you are feeling or how many drs have claimed there is nothing wrong he will not simply turn you away. He will work diligently until he knows what you have. He will listen to you completely no matter how much you have to say or how bad your ADHD detail oriented brain has your mouth say. I recommended him to many people and he did right by every single one. You can put your trust in him no matter what your symptoms are or diseases you may or may not have. If I did not currently live in North Carolina I would go back to him in a heartbeat. He truly is an amazing top quality brilliant, kind, caring internist. I can promise you will not regret seeing him or following any advice he gives you. He truly is the best.

Now if only he took my insurance he'd be perfect, but this is one expense that I'm willing to eat given we get this one life and can't expect any pockets to carry the cash forward. He has early hours and loves life so takes off his Fridays. Like we all should. I called yesterday and spoke with Joel who I tried to explain the situation to. There was a big language barrier and lack of medical knowledge on his end, which led to him not accurately understanding the situation. He said he would call the pharmacy and call me back. He did not. I called again this morning and spoke with Joel again, and he said he would "try" to get in touch with my provider and call back by the end of the day. I re-explained the urgency of the situation, that my medication was running out and I was going out of town on a trip this weekend and needed it refilled before then. CVS was saying it wasn't available for refill for 3 weeks because of how the refill cadence was incorrectly entered by the doctor's office. I just called again and spoke with Joel's colleague who said Joel had left for the weekend 2 hours ago and never called me back. I had explained to Joel over and over how it was dire that I pick up my medication by the end of the day today before the office closed for the weekend. He seems to not care, clearly, with no follow-up calls or voicemails left. This is medical negligence and malpractice and I am writing this review to make sure your office is aware of the severity of his unprofessionalism.
