First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - I have seen Forest Green play once here and it was a wonderful non league experience. It was in 2007, only a year after this place opened. What a lovely facility, a loud little crowd, and a fantastic place to watch football. I'll always have a soft spot for them after that experience, and I hope to go back in 2016 and see them again. I've been to most UK & US stadiums, due to lifelong obsessions with travel, sport & especially footy (soccer to Americans). Born & raised in England, I followed Oxford United (hometown team) to stadia all over the country at away games, and later Liverpool (fave team) around. Every stadium review - like all my reviews - are from first-hand personal experience, usually from several visits. In 2011, I was on music tour in the UK, and visited most stadiums for fun in my spare time. The majority of pitch side is non smoking, making a pleasant place to watch sport from. Plenty of food and drink outlets to choose from - although there are no healthy options available, and the prices are higher than outside the stadium, as would be expected. The function facilities are very new, and look crisp and fresh. There are a variety of size rooms, the hospitality boxes double up as meeting rooms and there is a huge function room which can seat 400 people. Venue hire prices are fairly reasonable for such a large venue, and the staff are very accomodating and politeand keen to ensure that your event goes without a hitch.

GCAFC don't actually play here at Meadow Park at the moment, because it was submerged nearly 10 years ago and to this day they still share with their mortal rivals Cheltenham. Hopefully that will end soon. I like this team because they play in yellow and are called the tigers, and because Gloucester is a very important town geographically and in terms of being picturesque and also for cheese. They were founded in 1883, and hopefully they will be back in the big time soon because right now, they're not even in the Conference Premier, which is one step below the Football League.

I'm a fan of theatre full stop, and forgot how truly enjoyable it is to see Shakespeare performed instead of reading it. Though the main theatre was being refurbished the last time we went, about 9 months ago, we went into the smaller theatre and saw an absolutely superb performance of, believe it or not, Romeo and Juliet. Booking online with the RSC was very easy, straightforward with the seating plans and payment. We were able to view the intermission menus and book food ahead of time, which would be waiting for us upon the break. What a fantastic service! I heartily recommend you take advantage of this. The smaller theatre is small enough that any seat in the house would provide a fine vantage point. The seats are comfortable enough, and actually offered my husband enough leg room! The production of Romeo and Juliet was reinterpreted in 1940s gangster era, with a very Godfather feel. The acting was fine, and I was relieved to see some blind casting. The food, at the break, was a real treat -- Mediterranean platter offering us truly delectable hoummus, olives and other delightful nibbles. See? Shakespeare doesn't have to be a painful experience. Unless you're the milkmaid.

Shakespearience is a hard one to review. Depending on who you are, it's either the worst kind of…read moretourist trap or it's an introduction to the man whose work eveyone has heard of and very few people have actually read. I am one of the former but I went to see this with my parents, who despite being quite well read aren't all that familiar with Shakepeare and his work. They've heard of him, know some of the famous lines from his plays, and may even have read a play or two at school but that's about it. They have certainly never seen a production of any of his plays. And really if you think about it, that's the case with most people. Which is probably why this audio-visual experience with the cringe-worthy pun of a name is actually quite popular. The experience begins with everyone sitting in a room with famous lines from Shakespeare's work projected onto the walls. This was quite interesting even for me because no matter how much Shakespeare you've read, it never fails to surprise you just how many famous quotes are his! This was followed by an brief history of his life and times shot in various Shakepeare-related sites around Stratford upon Avon. Then you move into the the stage room where Shakespeare (in the form of flashing lights) converses with the actor projected on stage. The 3D projections were actually quite good and as various scenes from his plays were acted on stage by the 3D actors, the host and Will discussed the plays and how the events of his life affected his writing. It ended with a performance by Shakespeare himself. My mum was quite happy with it saying it was the next best thing to actually watching a Shakespeare play. Which I suppose it is. So I would say if you're a tourist, or in a touristy-leave-my-patronising-ways-at-home kind of mood, this isn't a bad thing to go to. It is worth the entry fee though don't go near the shop. It's overpriced tourist tat (I suppose my real self must have reemerged by the time I got there!)

This weekend was my first bore experience - It was dark, there was a crowd of about eighty of us huddled together watching the water, listening out for that particular wooshing rumble...and when it came it was spectacular - eerie, primal, two surfers were riding it with head torches like cyclops beams. The Severn river is special, it has second highest tidal change in the world and this festival, in its second year, was started by Stuart - festival organiser and river lover in celebration of it. Stuart wrote on the festival website: "In travels around the world to other bores I was struck that where ever I went, people celebrated their tides. In China ancient temples are dedicated to the tides and thousands of people line the banks to see the arrival of the 'Black Dragon'. In France, hundreds both surf and watch the 'Mascaret' progress upstream." The Magnificent Severn may be small, but it's perfectly formed. The annual festival takes place on the Severn river. As well as waves there is music - gypsy jazz, folk, rock, kids play area, crepes, warm cider, wood carving, workshops. Amazing value, great fun, sunshine and sunny dispositions, put it in your diary for next year - 10th-12th September

I almost walked out before the play started. However, I wanted to give the actors a chance to overcome the distasteful display of hate and assumptions. When they have Prince Andrew and Mendelson to target, they target the President of the United States. Not every play goer is hateful and against Our President. That said, there are the typical opening night issues. Long pauses that indicated lines were forgotten or missed. The sound was also a bit off. About who showed anger or severe emotional pain by screaming, were hard to understand and sounds muffled and lost. Either the actors were not annunciating or the sound was too high on they're mics. There seemed to be a few missed cues, as well. So if that said, this okay was fantastic and the kinks will be worked out in time. I wasn't sure about the minimalistic staging and lack of scenery, but I couldn't have been more impressed with the way the actors worked the bare stage making my imagination take over and seeing an entirely different experience in my mind. The acting was superb! Luccio came in a little rough, but he really stole the show by the end of the post. Well done! I would recommend the theater, as it is a bucket list for many thespians and okay goers! What an incredible production. Unfortunately, I allowed the RSC website to pick my seats. I ended up in a straight high back chair where my legs dangled and I couldn't see the entire state and videos in the background. It probably helped me be distracted by the disrespect they were insinuating. I would never buy tickets with these seats again. Almost intolerable, so the acting and entire production overshadowed what I didn't care for. Next time, if I'm lucky enough to be back in Stratford Upon Avon, I would return. Tolerance and giving things a chance worked out for me. I also live Shakespeare and am a thespian at heart.

The venue itself is imposing and spacious, though very crowded for big events like popular LitFest talks. The acoustics in the main hall are pretty bad, but staff do their best to overcome that. Overall, if there's something you want to see, go and see it! Your experience shouldn't be either ruined or greatly enhanced by the venue.
