Definitely a locals place. Clean restaurant with a friendly staff. Great tasting burgers and fries for a reasonable price. This place is better than the franchise with a similar name.

This was not the What-A-Burger I was looking for but I sure am glad I found it. Its small and cozy the staff is very friendly and most importantly the food is delicious. The food had that nice comfortable greasy spoon feel without being greasy. The portions were good the food was tasty. The fried shrimp had a nice crunch and good flavor and the rib eye sandwich was simple but it stands well on its own. The restaurant is small and though well kept you can tell that the years have take a bit of a toll on the facilities. Overall a great find if your looking for a good quick bite to eat.

I haven't been here in ages, but the burgers are still very good. The young lady taking my order was very friendly. And I swear they have the best French fries of any where else I have ever gone.

Cheeseburgers are always good, fries are cooked well. Quick service. This is our "go-to" place to eat when we are running Saturday errands

Just a fast food burger joint. Not really good, but edible. No better than any other fast food option.

Burger was dry, very thin patty cooked to death. There's other places to go for a better burger.

This is the Virginia based What-A-Burger not to be confused with the Texas bases WHATABURGER.

This place was an absolute must try after seeing it pop up in my feeds. I checked the website and…read moreit showed they were closing in an hour. I called and tried to place a Togo order and they do not allow for that. They did say though that they keep serving customers even if it's past closing. So took the drive to the other side of Columbia and it was very much worthwhile. They sell out of things and so if things are cross off the menu, then you should have went earlier. I missed out on the smoked links. It was pretty quiet for a Sunday afternoon and there were not that other many people in the dining area. Hopefully, that's just because it's a Sunday in South Carolina. The burnt ends, wings, wings, collards, beans, corn bread and rich with hash we're all stand outs. The staff was very friendly and helped make this place a gem that I'll highly recommend.

I feel like barbecue spots might follow a similar playbook regarding meats, smoke, sides, and…read moresauce, but they certainly are not created equal. When I was visiting my sister in Columbia, South Carolina, she told me about City Limits Barbecue and since there was only one day on our calendar that they would be open, our schedule was set. We got there pretty early after they had opened, but there's still was a line out the door. A little bit into our wait in line the owner/chef came out to talk us through the menu, his process, and recommendations. This was such a cool touch. I loved hearing about everything that he put into the product and the passion he has for his cooking. As you can imagine... The food was SPECTACULAR. Look, the brisket was absolutely top-notch and this beef rib was possibly the most tender chunk of meat I have ever had. We also got a half pound of their chopped whole hog option with crispy skins, and while it was delicious and flavorful, it didn't have the smoke or barbecue flavor without sauce that I was looking for. Of course, we had to go with practically an appetizer sampler of the sides and if I would've been able to put the food away, I would have just ordered one of everything. The collard greens were really good and not overly bitter, this sweet jalapeño coleslaw was maybe one of my favorite coleslaw recipes I've ever had, but the star of the show in my opinion were the sweet beans which was what most people would call baked beans. The amount of time, effort, and attention to every flavor in these beans was 10/10. Talk about bringing a humble ingredient to life. The cornbread was as amazing as you would imagine and the carrot cake was delicious. If you're looking for something unique with their barbecue, opt for the brisket sandwich with chili con queso or the Texicano. I was being a purist snob and just wanted the beef rib, but I stole a bite of my sister's sandwich and holy cow... Starve yourself the day before you visit, arrive early, and prepare to have a religious experience.

I enjoyed the sweet potato fries too. I did get the all American blt burger. It wasn't anything special. Burger were not smashed, even though they were called smash burgers. Customer service was excellent. They were friendly and provided consistently great service. The smash burger was on point. Although they have some appealing burger offerings, I ordered the build-your-own. You choose your meat, cheese, toppings, and bun. The smash burger had a wonderful cheese melt, it was flavorful, the haystack onions were delicious, and the brioche pulled it all together. The other toppings were fresh. I ordered the truffle fries to go along with the burger. Fries only come with a few of their dishes. I wish the portion size of fries was a little more than what you get for the price; nevertheless, they were cooked well and were very good fries. Their ranch was tasty also. The food was served hot. I was so pleased with our experience.
