As a kid growing up in San Antonio, Texas I got accustom to going to Whataburger at an early age. Today now 62 and living in Central Florida the Jacksonville Whataburger locations are the closest to my house. As with all the Whataburgers I have visited in the past this one was clean especially now with the Covid virus. The person taking my order was polite and got my order correct. All the food for both my wife and I was good and hot. One additional thing about Whataburger they always support Law Enforcement. Being opened 24 hours sometimes they were to only placed open after midnight to get a cup. Will always be back. read more

Service is always great! And it's nice because I get a lot of coupons using the app! (Though it's still almost $6 for a fry and drink with a free sandwich) I will say that my friend bought 2 large fries and it was close to $7. Which is kind of crazy to me, when you can get a meal for $2 more. Their large and med fry is really not that much difference. They don't seem to fill the fries all the way, so when your paying that amount for fries, you should get more! It seems like you can go to a sit down restaurant in chili's for 10.99. This is a good solid Whataburger. It's always clean and the workers are pleasant. Haven't had breakfast at a Whataburger for a long time, but we did the other day and it was good. Nothing was overcooked and it was filling. Very affordable, all 3 of our breakfast meals were less than $5 each. I had the biscuit breakfast sandwich with bacon on a jalapeno cheese biscuit. It's not spicy, but it has a great flavor. Daughter had the honey butter chicken biscuit sandwich. She loved it but I wasn't a fan of sweet/savory mix. Husband had the breakfast platter. Sausage was cooked good, as were the eggs. Everyone enjoyed the hash brown stick things. We weren't planning on going here, it was an impulse since the store we were going to shop at wasn't open yet. Heading on way home, my buddy insisted we stop here to give this place a bite. I had a feeling that we'd be spinning our wheels today, but I'd like to be optimistic that the food would be better than expected. Going in, there wasn't a long wait, my friend ordered 1 whataburger and 1 mushroom Swiss burger. Moving into my review, there was nothing really wrong with the food, but it honestly just tasted fair. I know that people reading this would argue to me, "what would you expect from a fast food joint!?". But, I've actually had burgers from some not so hot fast food chains, and been surprisingly satisfied (I.E. Steak & Shake - totally underrated, and burger King - not freshest Patties but whopper with cheese has all the right components!). I was a little disappointed for starters today, as the burger claimed to have 100% pure beef, when it certainly tasted as there were fillers and kinda dry. Even burger kings patties, tasted meatier and more tender than this. Although, the first burger had fresh veggies, it was probably my least favorite, as the mustard overwhelmed the dry burger. I think some melted cheese, and special sauce could've fixed this! As for the second burger, it was definitely better, but the dry burger meat still made me feel dissatisfied. The mushroom and Swiss reminded me honestly of a Stoufers Salisbury steak as a sandwhich. Moreover, what was even more dissapointing was that these 2 burgers alone costed me over $12, when this wasn't even a gormuet burger joint! When in FL I love to have a Whataburger but WhataWait! Being 4.5 miles from I95, it took me 5 minutes to get there and back but it took this place over 25 minutes for a #1 and #4. This Whataburger is a hit or miss. It's like taking a gamble when you buy a scratch ticket. I've come here quite a few times and know what to expect. Just like other fast food places the wait depends on how many people are ordering and how fast they are. I always seem to have better luck with breakfast than with lunch and dinner. One time though, I got the #5, and all the condiments and fresh veggies were missing. It was just the bacon, small amount of cheese and burnt patties. I forced myself to swallow that pothole of a burger down. Fries were eh, a little too salty for my liking. This last visit I got the chophouse burger, possibly a limited time burger. Not enough onions, and again burnt patties. Breakfast though, I have no problems. Ordered the honey butter chicken biscuit and the sausage and gravy biscuits quite a few time. I dunno... this Whataburger seem to know how to make their breakfast better. Service is meh. If there are no other cars in front of you at the drive thru, they can take a while to acknowledge that you're there ready to order. Did in fact one time wait at the drive thru at 5:30 in the morning, for five minutes, then decided to just go to Dunkin next door. And THEN I hear someone at the speaker when I drove off. Eff that. I was in the area at about 11am and needed to go to the Early Learning Coalition center for a LiveScan at 330pm, so to kill some time I stopped by here to eat. There were a lot of people working and everyone was very friendly. My order was taken very quickly and I sat down in no time. There was only one other person there eating and left a few minutes after I did, leaving the whole restaurant to myself :) I got chicken tenders with honey bbq sauce, french fries with ketchup, and a sweet tea (as always). I went into this crowded restaurant for lunch around noon on a Monday. My order was "Whataburger Jr." (with cheese/lettuce/tomato/grilled onions) plus fries, onion rings, and soda. The main problem with Whataburger is food quality consistency. Certain locations are great (talking about you: Amarillo, TX) while others are bad apples that need to be snipped off of the tree and let rotten (yes, also YOU: Amarillo, TX). This place was a bigger disappointment than the first time I had sex...THAT BAD. Coming from North Carolina, the reputation of Whataburger had proceeded it by about 10 years....what a let down. Eating at 10pm (its open till the wee hours), it had a drive through line around the block. I ASSUMED the food would be fresh with that kind of businesses. Bad me. Reality was the staff was so inept, that putting a burger and fries in a bag severely taxed their limited IQ. The food was literally thrown in the bag and the line was around the block because slow was two gears above what they were capable of. The fries were so limp they needed a dose of viagra and may have been cooked in rancid oil. The burgers were so cold that the patty didnt melt the cheese. The whole mess was disappointment on a bun. So... Since I'm a born-and-raised San Francisco Bay Area resident, I've never had Whataburger before because they haven't gotten that far west yet, even though In-N-Out is spreading fast throughout the South, which is kinda sad because I don't want it to start taking over places like Whataburger. That said, I checked it out yesterday as my lunch before going to AEW Dynamite. And I loved it! I can almost call myself a convert. I could call myself that anyway but what I loved was how the quality of burger was similar, probably better, yet different in how they present it. I had a regular WhataMeal, a double-patty Whataburger with small fries and drink. I also had the limited-time Pico de Gallo burger, and a strawberry shake. All of these were excellent. The classic Whataburger tasted just like what you'd find with a near-restaurant quality with it's patty and vegetables (especially the onions which are probably the freshest onions I've seen at a fast food joint). The Pico de Gallo burger was good, a more typical fast food flair with the tomato and pepper chunks mixed with some kind of sauce which was good. I also liked that when the server brought the meal, he had a tray of dipping sauces I could choose from, and there were a lot of options. And finally, the shakes seem to pass the shake test, as it tasted like how a strawberry shake should taste, with no fillers or unecessary amount of sugar. The lady who took my order initially seemed standoffish at first, but mellowed out once she realized I was a tourist confused about how to order. Also helped that I'm not a hothead myself and I'm more a pacifist. So it was a negative that turned into a positive The only major negative was the lack of cleanliness of the dining area. Too many of the tables and chairs had food scraps or other grime on them, so it seem r like the staff doesn't clean the area as often as they should. Because of that it was hard to find a seat. I ended up having to sit in the semi-booth area where my seat was diagonal from one section of booth that had a used marijuana joint which had particles strewn about, as well as straw wrappers and other small paper items. Thankfully I wasn't at that seat, but I observed the area for a while and it took until a half hour, when I was about finished with my meal, that someone came to wipe down the table with cleaner, and casually sweep off the weed and paper parts off the seat and onto the floor for later sweeping. That was still there on the floor when I left, so hopefully it didn't take too long to finish that sweep job. If you're ordering drive through or takeout, you should have no problems I liked Whataburger a lot. I will definitely check out a whataburger again, but as for this one, I'll definitely give it a chance but hopefully won't be as dirty in the dining area as yesterday. read more
