I didn't receive anything for two weeks, contacted the gallery and was told there was a mixup and the artist had left the country with all of the copies. Even though when i purchased it, the hotel had called the gallery to make sure it was available. I called, left a message, the gallery tried calling back, i was out of town. They said they would issue a refund, I never received anything. I am having to get the hotel to help with this. So, bottom line, if you go there and buy something, it might be a good experience. Buying in any other form may not be the best alternative.

The idea behind the market is to provide an opportunity for everyone to own cool art by local artists. The market was co-founded by Keith and Heather Spears. Keith Spears is a local artist known for his industrial-inspired metal sculptures and Heather Spears is known, in a small circle, for hosting fabulous parties. Heather and Keith were inspired by the Umpteenth Annual $20 Art Sale held in Louisville that is organized by Mary Yates and Ron Jasin. After participating in the Umpteenth Annual $20 Art Sale a few times, Keith and Heather decided Lexington needed a similar event. Once the inspiration struck, the challenge was to find a space. We happened to be at Rock House Brewing for a car show and just wandered into Rock House's event space. I realized it would be perfect, talked to the wonderful people who run Rock House then the dream started to become a reality. Of course, it wouldn't happen without the artists. Once we started putting the word out looking for artists, we could not believe the response we received. The art market offers a large variety of art in one space. The first $20 Art Market in November 2017 was a bigger success than anyone, especially Heather, could even imagine. We plan to host the $20 Art Market bi-annually, once in the spring and once in the fall.

People walk in and out of this museum, thinking differently than what they would always imagine seeing a different perspective on what life gives seeing the imagination of what people can create from a simple paint stroke to a entire lamp post in the center of the building. UKhas always put in an exuberant amount of culture and art into many parts of Lexington but none more than this place. I remember my first time going into this museum the spring of 2025 with a field trip from my old high school. I originally signed up to do nothing and need to get out of class, but whenever I first went in there, it made me choose UK as a school of art

I am a terrible painter but I honestly made the best painting of my life here. Ashley made the experience fun and looked to my strengths to give me advice on what I could do better. She gave me different tools throughout the process to help me accomplish the look I was going for. One of the best things about this place as well is that if you don't finish in your first visit you can come back at certain times and have full access to their resources and advice even if it takes a couple times of coming back to do so. Coming here gave me confidence in my ability to actually paint well and it was not stressful at all during the process. Next time the wife and I get a chance to have some free time, this place is definitely going to be on our minds!
