Why are people snubbing "Where's The Party"? I truly feel that the service has improved. Though I was not in here to order invitations I came here to grab Bday cards and got my son a Valentines card and even picked up a rad card holder that was on sale for half off.. The staff was friendly no snobbery here.. I have been here many times to pick up wrapping paper, gift boxes and cards.. Perfect for that party one is planning for novelty items. I like this place.. I have probably looked through every book but I really needed something that the people invited would keep and share. They showed me a New York Skyline 11x18 cut out card and I could immediately envision the DC Monuments as a skyline and BAM I had my invitation concept. It is the out of the box thinking and ideas that keeps me coming back. You can find something at Where's the Party that "speaks to you". An invitation sets the tone for an event or celebration. Extremely disappointed with how this merchant conducts themselves. I purchased several items for my daughters first birthday here. I don't live close by so I purchased more than I needed. I talked with the young sales girl when I purchased the items and I told her that I didn't have the money in my budget for all the items and would need to return some things. I inquired about their policy and she seemed confused but said, "you can return for 30 days because they are not seasonal or stationary" Upon trying to return they stated they would give me store credit only. I would not have purchased the items if the girl had told me that. They said its on the receipt but I talked to THEIR PAID associate so I wasnt checking the receipt, I was going off what she told me. read more

Honest review... I had never been to the store. I've heard mixed reviews but wanted to see for myself. I stopped in at opening this am in hopes of grabbing balloons, party decor...everything for my daughters upcoming birthday. The store itself had cute things for any type of party, which left me a bit torn with theme. A woman did offer assistance upon arrival but I hadn't quite made my way though the store. Maybe 7 mins later of debating ideas in my mind and there was an older woman hovering around me pretending to look at things. I say pretending bc she was an employee. Instead of asking if I needed help, she darted away when I made eye contact. When I continued to look around, I noticed her head pop up again. It was unbelievably uncomfortable!! It went on for about 10 mins until I was then annoyed. I put down all but 1 thing & went to check out. The woman ringing me up didn't so much as smile or greet me. After sliding my card, she proceeded to toss me my CC across the counter. That's right, TOSS! I was appalled by her. My shocked eyes looked at her & she could care less. I understand a bad day or even a moment. But these women were RUDE!! The lack of respect was so apparent. My child has better manners than those displayed here! And she's a toddler. I mean for the love of God, at least fake a smile. Based on the horrible customer service alone, I will never shop here. I will make sure to tell friends & family the same. *And I will happily take my business to Paper Souce! They have impeccable customer service and an even better selection! I got my wedding invites done at Where's the Party. I had been there looking 2 times before I was ready to order. I made an appointment with someone (I forget her name) and she ended running late so I got Amy.. and thank god I did! She was very creative and I could tell that getting everything perfect was just as important to her as it was to me- she also helped me save a little bit of money! I have always had friendly customer service at this place. I love the store, they always have exactly what I want, and lots more. Not sure if the other people commenting were just looking for negatives, but I am definitely a twenty something with lots of tattoos to boot, and I have always been treated very nicely in the store. Two minutes later the gal at the register says she has to close out and couldn't wait 5 minutes for me to pick out a card. If they were closed they shouldn't have let me in in the first place. I have lived in the area my entire life. I have never experienced good customer service here. Love their products and selection. They do have high end product, but the women that work there have always been nothing but judgemental and stuck up. If you are anywhere under the age of 35-40 and have a huge rock on your finger and your designer purse, don't bother expecting service. If you are ready to do the legwork yourself and know exactly what you're looking for, and just want product, you may have a decent experience. I use this place as a last resort, desperate measures, can't find it anywhere else place. My husband and I were shopping for wedding invitations and they were somewhat friendly at first because we went in with my mother-in-law. Even then, nothing great with the service. She basically stuck the books in front of us and walked away, not once more asking if we had questions or anything. We were considering actually purchasing our invites there, but figured for the price and lack of service, it wasn't worth it. My mother in law who has never spoken an ill word of anyone, said that she was disappointed in the service. When we went back, just my fiance and I, not even a "hi can I help you?" So disappointed in the snootiness of the women that work there. I then found a place just down the street called "Oh Scrap" and the owner is so friendly and will help you make your own invitations and their selection of papers is amazing. They don't do custom invites, but the service alone has me going back there time after time for other projects. read more

My husband and I got our wedding invitations here and they were boyond gorgous! Mimi helped us, and she was great. She helped us with wording and proper wedding etiquette (which we had no clue about, lol) and answered all of our questions. They have cute gifts. There are little tables with themes. Some items might be a really good touch for a gift basket or gift bag. Last month I liked the unique, humorous retro themed items towards the back. I plan on returning soon in case they change their merchandise. I personally appreciated only being asked once or twice if I needed help, and not having anyone hover over me. Stores like this that make everything look so magical by the way they arrange things are ones that I need to first look at and then decide later and come back and make my purchase to prevent accumulating orphan gift bag items. IIt's on the smaller side, so I imagine they only have their best items taking up the valuable real estate. But the items are unique and uplifting, so I plan on returning. read more

My first time in this local shop and not only were the two ladies at the counter too busy talking to help. When I asked for a photo frame from the display (should I just grab it from the display or ....) she looked at me like a deer in head lights. She finally rang me, seemingly reluctant, not really sure. She called another girl to wrap what I just bought and somehow there was an issue with " wrapping a comped box... " still unsure what the hassle was ever since I walked into the door. All I knew is I wanted to buy the photo frame and since they offered to wrap it, that's what I chose. I've never had such an awkward moment inside a shop in my life. However, they seem to be very perky when people who they knew came to the counter. I also had a friend who bought a book on Saturday, she spoke with the woman behind the counter and told her she wasn't sure it was "just right" but decided to buy it. After having issues with trying to order some wedding invitations online My fiancé and I went into Where's the Party to see if they had any invitations that were not too expensive but still fit our style. We were met right away by Mimi who was so friendly, helpful and, as my fiancé says, "everything you expect a customer service representative to be." She helped us find and plan out our invitations so quickly and easily, we were pleasantly surprised. I had read the reviews where people had said the employees were rude unless you looked like you had money but I definitely don't have a large ring or a lot of bling and wore jeans and a t-shirt and everyone was friendly and welcoming and as I said Mimi was fantastic. We were also concerned about the timeframe of getting a proof and having them printed in time to send them out with plenty of time to RSVP but, we got them within a week! We even had to call back about 2 weeks later to order 10 more and they did it with no problem, I called them on Wednesday and they were done on Friday! I came to the store for the first time to have some wedding gifts wrapped. As I entered the employees I encountered were friendly and helpful without being pushy. I had to come back for the packages the next day because I had dropped them off close to closing time. This was completely understandable. When I arrived the next day everyone again was friendly and helpful. Shari was who assisted me directly. When she retrieved my packages I hesitantly expressed disappointment in the bows. She had not been involved in the original wrapping but insisted on redoing them and showed me several options. She could not have been more gracious! The end product was amazing. read more

I have been shopping at this store for several years and have had great success with the selection and service. I appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable staff and the fast turnaround time from invitation selection to finished product, which couldn't be better. Not only have I been 100% happy with the results, which are always stunning, but whenever I host an event, I get many compliments on the invitations, which sets a festive tone for the party or shower. I have learned to trust the staff's suggestions on front style and spacing of the wording as the finished product always exceeds my expectations. I am appreciative of the fact that the owner personally checks each order before it is printed. They have a topnotch selection of stationery and offer free printing on their note cards. It's certainly worth the 30 minute drive from my house.
