We're always excited about new restaurants in Lafayette. Initial impression was great atmosphere, decor, and lighting. The jazz music was pretty loud and so even though we were on the opposite end of the restaurant, everyone around us was yelling to compensate for the saxophone, loudness, so it was tough to hear my wife, she's very soft-spoken. also, kind of hard to handle at the end of a long day of work unless it's what you are expecting. Interestingly, they had some black-and-white movies playing on TV which I like because it doesn't draw my attention to something like sporting events or news Drinks were excellent, my wife had a spicy margarita, and I had a Ramos gin fizz, which is very difficult to do properly. Some sort of strange cheese and nuts (maybe) were complimentary, which fell flat. Service was good although we had two different people come to our table, so I wasn't sure if we had 2 waiters or a beverage, waiter and a food later but it is not fine dining enough for all of that. Turtle soup was pretty good, turtle was beefy texture. wife had the hamburger. It was nothing special. Kind of like a hamburger stand hamburger, sort of dry. I had the whiskey chicken. Unfortunately, the chicken had no color to it, but it was moist and tender. The whiskey sauce was very sweet maybe a little too sweet. The roast vegetables had very little color , they were more like microwaved, a bit soggy. Also, the sauce was very liquidy and so immediately soaked into the bottom of the vegetables. The plate presentation was also more like a plate lunch. Regular old white plate with sauce sloshing around the bottom. Not very attractive. Fairly tasty and fairly priced for the quality. I may come here again, but I won't add it to our regular rotation just yet. read more

It has a rather limited menu and is overpriced. Atmosphere has potential but it was extremely loud and very hard to hold a conversation.

While the decor was nice but the noise level was very high! We had difficulty talking across the table! Hard chairs. Service was very prompt and waiter had clean appearance. Food was good but nothing special and pricey. Appetizer one entree and one drink and we spent the better part of $55. With appropriate tip it was a costly evening. read more

We came here with friends on Saturday before Mardi Gras. We were looking forward to drinks, music and food. We entered about 7:30 and the place was somewhat empty. We arrived at our table and ordered drinks which seemed to take a while to arrive. Our waitress said the computer system was not taking our drink order and asked us again for what we wanted to drink. Finally , drinks arrived. We waited so long for our waitress to come back I had to get up and ask the manager to find her. We ordered smoked duck, a salad and our friends ordered a fish dish. The salad came to the table with no dressing...asked for more.. still not enough , we asked again and the waitress gave is a different dressing.. what the hell?.. we gave up and did not finish it. The duck is another story. It was placed on our table, but looked like a child's place.. no presentation at all. What's is going on in the kitchen? Clearly they do not know what they are doing. Maybe because it Mardi Gras, no one cared. We couldn't get out of there fast enough.. and the prices for we paid for was shocking. The only thing going for the place are the drinks and music, that's it. You have to get your act together. it's not working. Will never go back. read more

What a fantastic find! I didn't think they would have something with that fancy a vibe in that market. Beautiful antique upscale decor, with a very mature cocktail menu. Absolutely worth the stop. I only stopped in for a drink so cannot comment on food. We have been waiting to try this place. After seeing their brunch menu we decided to start my husband's bday celebration here. To start we ordered the fig flatbread and neither of us cared for it. It wasn't terrible, but it was kind of dry and just not great at all. We also ordered the truffle fries and they were pretty good. My husband had the shrimp and grits as his meal and gave it a 7/10 and I had the sweet tea chicken and pancakes and can definitely give it an 8/10. We definitely want to come back and try other things. Our server, Jacob, was amazing. And although the live music is extremely loud we enjoyed the vibe and what they're trying to go for. I wouldn't go back for anything we ordered and we all tried each others dish, as well as our appetizers. Fried shrimp seemed like the frozen variety out of the bag and not fresh. Nothing to write home about. All chairs at the table still had food crumbs and some grease. The kicker for me was when the manager (I assume) came and started clearing our table and then stood back and stared at us until we got up and left. Rude. We were a table of four. Beautifully decorated, perfect live piano Jazz being played for brunch. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were very warm and friendly. Cocktails cost around $12-14 each. Unfortunately, glasses of wine are priced the same. They need a house wine closer to $9. $12-14 is too expensive for 6 oz. House Wine pour. The crab and avocado with wanton chips appetizer was fantastic. The Mufaletta Flatbread had excellent toppings but the flatbread is served on pita bread. Pita is not a good crust for Flatbreads. Overall the prices are just too high to go consistently. I will stick with Bon Temps Grill, the same owners as Whiskey & Vine, but with food I prefer and less expensive prices. read more

Parking is terrible! The parking lot next door was full too. The only other option was to cross Pinhook in the dark while it was raining, We were a party of 8 and made a reservation for 7:30. We were not seated until 9:15. Staff was friendly, but No apologies were made. The only reason we stayed was because the music was great! This place was terribly managed. They kept seating people in front of us instead Of trying to hold 2 tables of 4. This place need to decide if they are going to be a bar or a restaurant. They can't to both effectively, you count even hear the waitress cause the music was so loud. .The food was ok, but definitely NOT worth the wait. read more

DIRTY FINE DINING Serious food violations: See Yelp for their recent important food violations. We arrived at the time we scheduled for call ahead seating. The seat I requested was not available. The manger was not helpful. This appeared to be mostly a bar on the first floor. It was noisy with piped music through the speakers and the customers all seemed to want to talk above the loud music which gave it an atmosphere of a chaotic overstuffed cheap bar. Food appears to be a second thought at this establishment. We left and went to another location and enjoyed our dinner even more having escaped a very bad experience. No parking, large trucks are going to have a difficult time finding a spot to park. read more

If you're going to bother to take reservations, then you should have a table available. If you don't want to seat 2 people at a larger table, then say you don't take reservations for 2 (or save a table). I do not think waiting an hour for a table after your reservation time when there were tables available is reasonable. Oh, and if you get stuck at the bench seat against the wall near the band area, I hope you have exceptionally long legs, otherwise you will be uncomfortable. That's where we were lucky enough to finally be seated. One couple adjacent to us asked to be moved and the next couple seated there was not comfortable either. We originally sat at the small bar in the left corner. There were 3 bartenders in that tiny area. It took forever for someone to remove the plates from the previous people sitting there. One of the bartenders was one of the slowest, most relaxed individuals I have seen in some time. Luckily that's who made our drinks. Having said all this, the food was excellent and our table server, Trent, was great. That's the reason for the 3 stars: Food 5, Table server 5, the reservation joke 0 and the bar service a 1. We left just as the singer was starting, so I do not have a good read on the sound, however we were treated to a couple ear-piercing feedback sounds. I would recommend going as a group, it would be much more enjoyable. Just get there early for a table. read more

I do understand that it was the Monday before Mardi Gras but the disrespect we were treated with was unacceptable.
