My Dad and his family live up around Easingwold and so the White Bear in has become a firm favourite for special occasion meals and we visit at least twice a year.
The dining area is warm and cosy, but small - so make sure you book a table as this place is extremely popular!
The Menu hasn't changed since I first went 4 years ago, but they have a special board full of enticing dishes that is always different!
The starters include soup, mushrooms (my mouth is watering listing them!), blackpudding, fried in batter with a crispy sauce and a salsa like salad and you can even opt for some freshly cooked muscles in white wine which is served with bread. I don't eat seafood but I wish I did as when I've been with someone who chose this, it always smell delicious and looks very impressive!
The main courses, My absolute favourite is Lamb Henry! A huge chunk of lamb on the bone that's cooked slowly in mint! wonderful. Other items on the main menu include a bigger portion of muscles, chicken, pork etc. Some of the specials I've noticed include steak, (Steak is on the main menu as well but the steak from the specials bored is usually something a bit special) Duck and venison.
All the meals are served with seasonal vegatables, potatoes, roast potatoes and chips - placed on the table for everyone to dig in and help themselves.
The staff here are very friendly and accommodating and they're happy to provide high chairs if you want to take your little ones. read more
