The Kings Head really isnt my idea of a good night out and we usually only pop in there for one or two drinks before heading onto somewhere else. On a friday night it is karioke night, but the majority of what happens at the Kings is live gigs of varied kinds of music ~ ok if you like that sort of thing i guess! The pub itself is clean and tidy, tables are cleared of empty glasses quickly and the staff are well mannered and polite. I would say the pub is in need of a good redecoration but after you have had a few its not something you really take much notice of anyway! The drinks are pretty cheap, which is why we always used it as a starting point for our nights out!

It looks like a vile 1970`s hospital, comprehensive, etc etc. However on going inside what a contrast !! Never judge a book by its cover. Inside is modern clean and very upmarket. Nice warm greeting on check in. Good sized room with balcony overlooking the golf course. King size bed and full size bathroom. Small bar and lounge. Breakfast next day was good quality and plentiful. If I am over that way again I would not hesitate to stay here again.

When you first enter the hotel it seems a bit old fashioned, i guess it reminded me a bit of my nans house! I guess the hotel is more geared towards the older guest. Paula and Steve did their very best to help me while i was at the hotel providing me with local information and attractions and things that i could do with the children. They were also willing to entertain one of the children whilst i sorted the other out if i needed them to i didnt even need to ask! I only ever had breakfast at the Rufford and being as my children were both under 2 at the time breakfast time was very centered around them but it was made as easy as possible for me. By the time we came down to breakfast their breakfast would be there and ready along with a highchair! All the food that enters the dining room is home cooked in the hotels kitchen by themselves. All rooms have ensuite, televisions and tea and coffee making facilities. There is a television in the lounge for residents use, aswell as the dining room and the bar where drinks are reasonably priced. On the whole the Rufford is a very enjoyable experience, the staff are polite, friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and well presented. I was actually sad to leave! The prices are on par with others in Skegness, and in my opinion it is well worth every penny.

The rooms were clean and reasonably modernised, the beds comfortable and the staff went out of their way to help us. The breakfast was excellent and they also had gluten free and lactose free options. A full English breakfast and options for all dietary requirements was available. There is a lift for disabled folks ( albeit a tad antiquated) but nonetheless everything was considered for each guests needs. The bar was open until 1:30am which was great for our team returning late from the show. The only tiny improvement I would suggest is that the showers were very weak due to the water pressure on the top floors but other than that it was all perfect.

Set in 5 acres of parkland the Oaklands was built by the Long Family in 1877 as a private family estate. We have conducted and been to seminars at the Oaklands hotel and they have all been run very well and I felt very comfortable both as an organiser and a visitor to such events. Organising the event was very easy and I felt like I was in very capable hands. The food provided was perfect for the amount of people i had invited to the event and it was a pleasure to have access to the beautiful gardens clearly visible outside the windows of the room we rented. I have also been to weddings here and it was amazing - the hotel becomes a dream. Driving up the hotels drive It was lovely to imagine being wed in this amazing building. I admit I was a little bit jealous of the couple I went to celebrate with. The room was done up to the highest standard, the food was amazing and the photos of the event were wonderful with a great contrast between inside with all the decorations and photos in the gardens which really were beautiful and well kept. The hotel also has a carboot sale on its lands during the summer months and this is the biggest in the area - but far enough from the hotel so as not to bother the guests but close enough to add that extra bit of entertainment to your weekend if you so wished - who wouldn't want to do some bargain hunting on a sunday morning?

This was home to Guy Gibson and the Dambuster officers in WWII.Petwood was requisitioned by the RAF during WWII. In the latter stages of the War it was used as the Officers Mess for the famous Dambusters, 617 Squadron, who were then based at nearby RAF Woodhall Spa. (Now a few huts but open to the public and worth a look if you are interested and The Blue Bell Inn, an ancient roadside inn at Tattershall Thorpe, in addition to serving excellent ales and food, has Dambuster connections. On the ceiling can be found signatures of members of 617 Squadron.) In the grounds can be found a dummy practice bouncing bomb, as was used in the Dambusters raid. Inside the hotel, the Squadron Bar is dedicated to 617 Squadron and has memorabilia from the period. Over the bar can be found the branch of a tree. This was found impaled in the fuselage of a Lancaster. The memorial is nearby. Ok this is where you laugh at me. I was doing a craft fair here. At dusk I slipped outside and sat on an old table to have a cigarette. There was a long, high edge by me and a gap then more edge. Across from where I sat a man came. he had grey trousers on and a white shirt with rolled up sleeves and walking at his side a black dog. He smiles, winked and waved at me. I waved and smiled back. he went behind the edge but never passed the gap. I ran to the gap..no-one there. I went inside and told the barman and he said You have seen Guy Gibson. Most of the female staff have..he likes the ladies. I am adding to this for my guide to ghosts in Lincolnshire: A few years ago I was invited, by the RAF, to take my stall to the anniversary of the Dambusters Raids at the Dam in Derbyshire where they used to practice. Many old Lancaster pilots were there and chatted to me about their time in Lincs. One related a spooky story to me though not ghosts of the past.. He said the plane was shot up very badly..he was a gunner and only he and the pilot were still alive. He went to stand behind the pilot as they were lost. Instruments had gone. They saw a river below and rights on the right and realised with relief it was the Humber and the lights were Hull..almost home. Suddenly he saw a huge concrete structure dead ahead and they were about to hit it. He yelled a warning and covered his eyes. They had come through all this and were still going to die. Nothing happened. He opened his eyes and asked the pilot how he had missed it. The pilot had seen nothing. When they built the Humber Bridge, decades later, he realised that was what he had seen that night. The future! Guy Gibsons dog: At Raf Woodhall Spa itelf: A photograph of a group of airmen revealed a black dog standing at the end of the line up that was not spotted at the time by neither the photographer nor any of the pilots. It was later suggested it was 'Nigger', Guy Gibson's pet dog that had been run over a few months before. During the 1980s, a team of engineers working at night spotted a pilot in 'old flying gear' walking along a corridor. One of the team went to investigate, only to find that the pilot had disappeared. And finally: IN DAMBUSTERS FILM Sharp-eyed viewers may spot the ghost of Nigger running through the trees at the end of the film (where Gibson is talking to Wallis at Scampton) - no dog was known to be on the base when the film was made, so the identity of the animal seen on film remains a mystery.

The rooms weren't small like most hotels in the UK so you definitely don't feel closed in. Plus they have WiFi!
