I had the displeasure of having to attend a funeral at this location a couple of weeks ago. Funerals are never nice however they can be made a little more bearable.
The place was nice and everything but I truly believe they made a massive planning faux pas. I realise the family picked this location as it had meaning to them however the person that passed away was quite young (under 60yrs) therefore you can expect a much larger turn out than for someone who is maybe 80. The room was so small that I would guess maybe 20% of people attending actually got a seat in the actual room itself. I was NOT late and still got stuck standing, with about 50 other people, crammed into a foyer area. We could barely see a thing, in fact I did not even know it was an open coffin until I got home and read it online. In addition they allowed people to pour through two foyer area's as well as outside. It was extremely hot this day and I seriously felt like I was going to pass out. It went for over an hour and a lot of people walked out well before it ended.
The service and celebrant were ok, as was the surrounds, but not in any way ok for a funeral with so many people in attendance. Their air cond could not even cope with all the people. At least being a female I could wear something a little cooler but the poor men in full suits, they looked like they were melting.
Without having this particular experience here it would probably get at least 3 stars. If the family really had to have this location due to previous relationships with this particular branch then they should have maybe made it a direct family only event or something, but I think everyone deserves to be able to say goodbye if they so choose so a larger venue would have made a lot of sense. The family is grieving and making decision based on other thoughts at that time, the funeral directors should have foreseen it may be an issue with someone taken so young. read more
