If you really need to read a review for White Spot...I feel sorry for you because it most likely means you haven't eaten here yet. This has been my location of choice since I was a child and the service at this restaurant is always good. White Spot serves comfort food - the burgers are pretty much the best and their menu is filled with things you would find in a diner - all well made and delicious. In recent years White Spot has tried to keep up with the Vancouver trend of healthy eating and they've spruced up their menu quite a bit. You can find fancy salads and gourmet this and that's and they are very good as well. I'll admit I've had a fantastic salad at white spot but the real reason to go there is the greasy stuff. Their burgers come with endless fries (that are usually super tasty) and a small serving of the most delicious coleslaw I've ever found. The milk shakes here are also the best. They serve up their shakes in those old school parlor style shake glasses and always give you the metal cup they were made in containing another full glass full. Go there, get a burger and enjoy your self. read more

Note that many people underrate this restaurant chain; it's because the outlets tend to be very busy at mealtimes and Vancouverites are jealous of being able to get seated promptly. read more

White Spot pretty much epitomizes what a diner should be, even if it doesn't quite look it. Somebody in the company seems to think that people are tired of burgers and sandwiches, so they've implimented a faux thai menu and started marketing a thai beer. It's a bit odd because when I come here I always expect the same thing: a delicous breakfast or a decent buger. Their food certainly isn't going to win any awards, but it fills a niche. In fact, the food isn't a great deal better than what you would find at your average Denny's, but the dining room is way cleaner and the staff are very friendly and attentive. They also have a full bar if you want a drink but avoid a night out. Ignore the vaugely gourmet pretenses and enjoy some simple fare. read more

Well I've gone to various White Spot locations since I was a kid. The Broadway location is closest to me these days so I'll review this one and my recent visits. This can be quite a busy spot (get it..spot? ha!) as times so I've learned not to go then. Weekend brunch and early dinner hour are pretty packed. The service is fairly spotty (ha, again!) ranging from friendly and attentive to lazy, bored and slow but I if I decide to go I expecting that so no biggie. I don't really go often but basically I'll just go for the Legendary burger (a classic) or maybe the fish and chips. Once they forgot my zoo sticks on a take-out order. That sucked. Another time they double charged my card which obviously I never noticed until my statement came. I phoned and had to bring in my statement for them to see. They gave me my money back and a card for a free soup (whoop dee doo). I don't think I ever even redeemed that soup *shrug* This location still has the car-hop service which I must say is pretty cool and I might do that sometime soon just for kicks. So some good, some bad, some ok...3 stars from me. read more

I came here with my fiance after school to have a nice quiet sit down meal. It was really quiet at 5:30pm, which was nice. I wasn't really thrilled with our waitress. She seemed uninterested and bored and couldn't be bothered to deal with us. She did get us drink refills and we were brought the bill in a decent amount of time, but the girl who brought out our salads was much more excited. On the note of the salads, it look a long time to get them after ordering (considering it was quiet in the restaurant, it shouldn't have taken over 20 minutes). I ordered the Asian Chicken Salad because it was on the healthy choices menu, but it was a bit bland and the chicken was flavorless. One thing I'll never understand about the White Spot menu is that you can get wraps at some locations, but not others. I really could have gone for a wrap last night, but it wasn't on the menu! Are all White Spots independently operated? I do enjoy White Spot most of the time, but I was really underwhelmed at this location. read more

Another Vancouver tradition for this Northern Californian burger lover. They were more than happy to seat our party of ten 5 minutes before closing (10:55 PM). Deliciously huge bellinis. Definitely in the things-I-didn't-expect-to-say category. I ordered a double cheeseburger with fries in addition to the aforementioned bellini. Burger is yummy, and surprisingly juicy for the fact that it's cooked well done, fries are bottomless (always a check in my book), and I'm a sucker for the Triple-O sauce. Didn't feel rushed to leave at all, and when we did leave, I was quite full, which is something I expect at a burger place. White Spot is definitely worth a visit! Still can't leave a Canadian restaurant for under $20 (and I didn't even pay for the bellini). read more

Came here for thanksgiving dinner with family and the food was pretty bad even for white spot but the service was great. For starter, we had the Caesar salad with grilled salmon. Wow was the salmon bad. Very dry and has the very fishy taste, signs of unfresh fish. I'm positive that this fish is definitely frozen or been stored in thawed form for a long time. We had the turkey dinner, which tasted basically like the same turkey you get from airplanes or frozen dinner. The turkey meat tasted slightly stingy, kinda like spam, which is kinda weird. We also had the ribs, which was hands down the worst I ever had in Vancouver. The meat was not marinaded well, tasted very blend inside. It was not cooked enough so that the meat would fall off like it should. The sauce was kinda stingy like the turkey meat?!? I don't think its my tongue, but I think they use the same preservative as spams in these products. My White spot's favourite, the blueberry smoothie got slaughtered here as well. Maybe because its not the blueberry season, there was very little blueberry in there. Its basically a vanilla milkshake with the taste of cheap ice cream. Very disappointed. Overall, I would not recommend this White spot to anyone. Maybe because it was a busy holiday, but there was simply no excuse of having unfresh fish or stingy food. I'd pay a few extra bucks and go to earls or cactus club if you want similar types of food. read more

Upon first glance, White Spot looks like your run-of-the-mill chain dining restaurant, but what this BC staple lacks on appearance it makes up for in something called Triple-O-Sauce. Now if it were up to me I would brush my teeth with the stuff. It is so good that is probably causes and cures cancer at the same time, but what really makes it amazing is the addition to it on the burgers. Personally whenever I go to White Spot I get the legendary platter. I think all in it's something like $11, and you get coleslaw and bottomless fries. The burger is the real kicker though...crispy bun, sauce, patty, sauce, crispy bun. Simple in its elegance, but delicious in its entirety. If you want a solid burger it is definitely a place hitting up. Also, it has a bunch of other great menu items (I believe this latest round of menu changes has more of a thai-flaire to it) that come in reasonably priced and they have health-conscious options on their menu as well. If you want a no-nonsense quick meal with decent consistency hit it up. read more

My Vancouver friends have been saying I need to eat here. I guess it's a Vancouver tradition. After missing out the last 3 times I finally had supper here. We were seated right away even though it was packed. We decided to share a burger & a salad. We also split a milkshake. They gave us "share" plates, and even cut our burger in half - with extra sauce. The burger was good but the fresh bun & sauce made it special. I also liked the refills in French fries. The milkshake was sooo creamy and tasty. The salad was good and hit the spot since my mouth wanted something crunchy. The service was excellent. I didn't know until we left that this place has car service. If I return when the weather is a little warmer, I'll try it out. I use to love drive-in restaurants. read more

First timer here, we dont have a White Spot in California - i believe this is probably the Canadian Version of Red Robin. We came here for breakfast - I ordered curry, very delicious dish! What's cute is the kids meals come in little paper boats which makes it enjoyable for kids to eat - very kid friendly restaurant that looks fancy. read more

I've been back a few more times and have to say that some dishes are still very good, but some were much better the first time I tried them. Went last night and the Tuscan Chicken pasta was tasty, but very watery. I remember it with a thicker sauce which was much better. Also, the Asian Noodle salad was better the first time--the second time had a little bit of crushed ice in it and a disproportionate amount of lettuce. Wings were good and the breakfasts have been on point. Overall, the service at this location is the best of most restaurants I've dined. read more

So the first time around, I was at work and WS happened to be the closest for a decent pulled together breakfast..or so I thought. It is nothing like the one at Oakridge or the one past Metrotown! Good lord..it was still early, barely any one in there, someone couldn't even come to greet you at the door or take an order, I had to hunt someone down instead! As I got my breakfast and ran back to work, just as I popped open the box, it was missing my set of toast! T___T" I was not impressed that I had to call and walk back over just for some bread. No apologies, no nothing. A while later, I didn't feel so well after having the sausages and bacon. Called them to see when they cooked them. She actually had the nerve to say " well usually if people are to get food poisoning they get it a few hours later". I was livid. I was going to be like, are you for real? YOU, are telling ME when I should be feeling sick? Shes like " go see a doctor first, if they say its food related just call me back". That was my last straw with this location. I haven't been back at this location since then, but I just went in last month because someone else really wanted to. They redeemed one star because of John's prompt service, especially when I ordered another Nats Hearty Breakfast and the sausages were cold, he brought me new ones when I asked. No snotty attitude. Outstanding service everytime we have been with our toddler - the pirate pack with mac and chese, veggies, milk and ice cream is hard to beat for our hungry child. Lots of options for adults too. We particularly like the quesedillas which are on the take out menu but they will serve them in the dining room. Not a big fan of their blueberry 'pie' but their pumpkin pie splendid. read more

Came in for dinner last Sat with a friend. The waiter was friendly but REALLY loud. And that's how it was the whole time. Does the waiter know his voice is so loud. It was b orderline funny like an episode of Seinfeld! His service was good in the beginning. But we had to wait a LONG time to have our plates taken away. And their were only two parties in the whole room! Did I mention that we literally had to beg for more fries(endless fries). Also the Bellini comes premade in a slushy dispenser. They do not tell you this. I ordered the Rib and chicken for 18$. The portion was small...unfortunately I had to eat somewhere else afterwards. I think I'm finished with the White Spot. I will never go to this White Spot again. When I thought about going here, it was 'iffy' as I had 2 previous bad experiences with this White Spot. As I went to sit down there were 2 women with fries that looked as if they were overcooked. Finally I ordered the Zoo Sticks. They were so greasy I couldn't believe it. The lady said something and I said "Your chips look the same".....she said she was never coming to this Restaurant again as she had previous bad experiences; same as I.....The Manager came over and he gave them a gift certificate, but the woman told him she will not be coming back. He gave me a new order of Zoo Sticks, but they were just as bad. I told the waitress I would pay for the drink, but she said it was all ok and not to pay for anything. I will NEVER return to this establishment.....other White Spot's are ok, but this one.....don't bother wasting your $$$...... read more

We went to the restaurant yesterday for lunch with my cousin's family. They all had meat burgers, but I decided to have the salmon burger. We barely made it home and I was vomiting and later had diarrhea. I spent the rest of my day in the bathroom on the toilet and a can in front of me to vomit in. Service was fine, they made an error with one of the orders, but we accepted it, the shakes were great as was service. The salmon was not overcooked so i wonder how long it had been sitting around before it was prepared into my dish. I am home recovering today close to my bathroom. So sad. read more

I love this place, the service is always good and the food is always delicious. The other day came here and had the Mediterranean Chicken burger. The food was great and really enjoyed it...chicken had a bit of a funny taste at first but the spice kinda ruled it out and I figured it was just the spices. Only thing I ate all day and woke up the next morning 8:00am vomiting right from my sleep and violently vomited until around noon. Was incredibly ill the whole day. It was food poisoning and since this was the only place I ate at (in the car hop) draw your own conclusions. I noticed on here that several other people have complained about food poisoning and there are postings about the restaurants health inspections. Be wary there seems to be an issue in the kitchen. read more

I've been going to various White Spots for about 50 years. It began with Pirate Paks and car service with the family as a kid in the 60s (remember the green extending trays?), coke floats with high school friends in the 70s (I still laugh remembering a football player who tried to eat the whole left side of the main menu) splitting a triple o burger platter with a UBC buddy in the 80s (we were poor students then), and dining in or getting take-out throughout the decades. There's a cute nostalgia when old friends gather here but let's face it, the food is not just a great tradition, it's great. It's nice that the menu expanded but thank you for not messing with the classics. Just the other night, I opened a take-out bag to find a sauce container had malfunctioned. Gavin Jones, the assistant general manager handled it beautifully and left me happier than when I went in. We've always had good service but this was over and above. Thank you Gavin, well done. You're part of why White Spot is and will continue to be a regular part of our lives. read more
