The home-ware department is useful for tea-towels, oven mitts, plates and mugs. Some with rather elegant patterns and colours. Rubbish bins, cushions, pillows and duvets. I needed to buy a load of cheap photo frames to spray paint for a project I was working on. They had an amazing selection of all shapes sizes and materials. You will also be quite surprised that some of the prints and wall hangings are rather nice. However for the clothes department...The cheap run of the mill fabrics and styles have never really been my thing. But I think it is very useful for children who are always getting muddy and ripping and staining their clothing!! Friends in the past have said that their swimwear, surprisingly, was quite good - so check out the swimwear collection next summer!

I also buy 'USA Athletics' socks for running in, and have done marathons in them without trouble. Might not suit everyone, but at £1.50 a pair they are considerably cheaper than 'proper' running socks and still feature smooth seams, padding and extra fitting features. They also have very appealing stuff like ornaments, cushions and cookware. Actually it's often worth a rummage for a surprise or two. The changing rooms are OK, though I did once find something horrible on the curtain of my cubicle. It often seems under-staffed: often there's only a couple of the big row of tills open and a big queue. You get what you pay for though!

Quite remarkably I must say. There are more dressing rooms, one for the gents and two for the ladies. The menswear selection includes an organic brand called Knowledge Cotton, which clothes are gorgeous when you touch them; a local designer called Eastie Empire Tailors that produces a line of clothing taking inspiration from the old days; Superga shoes and other brands. They have an interesting selection of man caps too from a London designer called Dasmarca. The womenswear selection includes several brands like Stefanel, HunkyDory, Selected Femme, Patrizia Pepe, Jucca, Hartford and etc.. A well mixed selection of different brands that gives you the impression that everything belongs to one designer. Congratulations to the buyer. The staff is always friendly and open to have a chat explaining you the brands and why they selected them. There is no rush or push, you can try on and come back when you want, these guys are really adding a service for free for you. This is what you would call a real local shop and a real local shop service. Buy local!

The sales rail is always worth a look, the staff are friendly and the selection is one of the best in London.
