The Whitesands post office became unavailable several months ago when the hosting Spar shop closed. The nearest alternative to the best of my knowledge is in St Michaels Street (~1/4 mile). The staff there are very helpful, but it is way too small in my opinion to serve as a satisfactory replacement PO. And it is not in the town centre, where it ought to be. read more

This post office is in the Spar shop at the Whitesands. I have always found it to be very efficient and functional. It can get busy but I guess that is to be expected. Normally I would give this place a higher rating however I sent an expensive item from here a few months back and it never made it out of the Post Office!!!!!!!! Not making any accusations but it has left a bad taste in the mouth. read more

The customer service was pretty terrible when I went there to mail an item! Was expecting smiling faces from the workers there but infact they were giving cold shoulders. Didn't felt welcome at all. read more

Tried to send money abroad for an emergency situation with moneygram from this office After 25 minutes wait for them to check the money and transfer details the person behind the desk said the manager is on the line with Moneygram because the country of destination is known for frauds and scams. Few seconds later the manager comes and gives me a number for Moneygram to call myself as transfer was denied. The number i was given was wrong. Went back home, got the right number from internet, phoned Moneygram on a high charge number, just to be told they've never heard of such situation. Went back to this post office, another lady takes me through the process without any problems, while I'm waiting I see the manager having a moment and I asked what was about with the made up call to moneygram earlier that day and why are they wasting my time and money. He said is up to him whether he is doing that job or not and to show him proof of origin for the money but he never mentioned that the first time I was there. I realized it was just a xenophobic treatment and off i went to another post office where it only took 10 minutes to get the transfer done. read more

I would like to nominate the male post office counter clerk on duty on the morning of Saturday the 17th October, for a Jobsworth Award. I needed to renew my old passport. I had to have photographs for this passport application and needed to use the photo booth. He gladly gave me the necessary change, but because I had completed my application and declaration on line refused point blank to give me any assistance to ensure I had completed the necessary form correctly and dealt properly with the required photographs. He insisted that as I had not applied at the post office, he was unable to offer me any help with my application. I was unaware that I could do this. I was told this was in order that there was no come back should he give me the wrong information. Surely he should be allowed to tell your customers whether they have completed the form correctly or not? I take it that had I applied for a renewal at the post office this would not have happened and he would have been in a position to give me all the help I needed. He was happy enough to take the £6.50 postage!! I am not a young person and as one gets older one's confidence in dealing with these things diminishes. The one thing I have learned from this experience is that I will only deal in future with the post office at Lochside where the staff are always happy to help. read more
