White Water Weekends is basically a pleasant local guy who calls himself Captain Bob, who has a white van, down by the river. He's got a plethora of inflatable kayaks and tubes, and life vests, and paddles. You phone him up, and he meets you at Rotary Club park in T or C, shuttles you and your party upriver, and you get in an inflatable kayak and cruise down the Rio Grande. You end at the same park where you left your car. We have done this 3 times now and it has always been a total blast. There isn't any white water, really, on the section that we go on, but on a hot day in Southern NM there is nothing like a little cruise down the river. It takes about 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on the water speed and any headwinds and it's incredibly reasonable--it was $35 total for three of us to go today. That's cheaper than going to the movies. read more

Floating down the river is a total blast but the guy who owns it, Captain Bob is incredibly rude. We flipped over on a small rapid and it took awhile to get our party together and try and get back on our tubes. This set our floating time back a bit. We arrived at the end apparently later than he liked. His website says he is out there till 7pm; and we arrived at five. He was furious that we took extra time and we explained our situation but we were still met with attitude, eye rolling, and insults. I felt like a child in trouble with the principle. He picked up the tubes making remark after remark, not even grateful for our business. He was literally pouting because he said he wanted to be home. How about, not running a business that runs till 7pm. This is not the first time that he has an attitude or is in a bad mood. Best bet, take your own tubes, park your car at the end, and pay a local to drive you up the river. It's not worth the stress and anxiety knowing if the river runs too slow you will be met with a tongue lashing! Do not give him your business! He is not appreciative! read more

I called the company intending to pay for a pickup, they were closed due to river conditions and recovering from a surgery. The lady was super nice on phone and told me about the river conditions as well as were it was safe to go in and come out and where to park. I have a moped in my camper and am able to "pick myself up" if needed. Intending to head out now for a float. The company didnt have to dhare their secrets and on top of that she told me to keep my phone on me and call them if i had any issues on the float. Thats a great business ethic!!! read more

I look at the website and it said hours of operation, 9 to 4. My husband and I show up a little after noon. The woman was not pleasant to say the least. She said she was not planning on working all day and didn't want to let us sign up, we could come back tomorrow. We told her we were leaving town tomorrow and it would have to be today. I asked if there was another place where we could do the river float, she said no, we could go buy tubes at Walmart and figure out the river. The worst experience ever! We are staying at Riverbend Hot Springs and saw people floating the river all day. So much for her story of not working all day. read more

Very disappointing. The woman running the operation was extremely sarcastic and rude. Before we could even ask a question, she was yelling at us that we didn't have reservations and she wasn't going out. It was so obnoxious that we thought she was joking. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. I could not recommend this business and would not want anyone to ever have to deal with this type of behavior. Don't waste your money!!!!! read more

It's awesome, I mean who doesn't love floating down the river? You might have to wait a little while for everything to get organized but once you're on the water the wait is well worth it especially for 10 bucks a person. Some really cool views and a great way to relax. read more
