Other acts recently include Travis, Sugababes, Shane Ward and Ray Quinn. If you're a fan of musicals there is plenty of choice from local operatic groups to others fresh from the west end. Children are well catered for with lots of family friendly shows. In the summer there is a project for budding actors and singers, age 9 -19 culminating in a professional show at the end. Last year they performed High School Musical which went down a storm! Although a small venue compared to others, it is in keeping with the area and tastefully decorated. There is a bar upstairs and a small shop to buy refreshments. My one criticism would be the prices which are typical of a venue of this kind, expensive! On busy nights the queue can be a problem so perhaps more staff in the kiosk, but that aside it's definitely a place well worth a visit.

The show itself although only a dress rehersal was fantastic! The kids loved it, the only downside i can see to the Riverhead theatre is that it is very small, but then in a town the size of Louth i guess it doesnt really need to be that big! The tickets are very reasonably priced although the prices vary depending on what shows are on but i dont think i have ever seen a ticket advertised that has cost more than £11. The theatre itseld is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

It's a fantastic asset to Louth and well deserving of the lottery funding it's had. There are professional dressing rooms, a well-appointed stage with good lighting and even a bar. The Playgoers theatre company often advertise different plays and these get excellent reviews.

They are hopeless and never interested in the customers - mainly as they are council employees. The building may be magnificent, but the service is abyssmal. Dreadful service at the bar, officious and pompous stewarding, and the floor itself has no rake so if you are more than a few rows from the back you cannot see anything. The business flourished all through the Victorian era and on into the 20th. century. During the next hundred years the name Gough & Davy became synonymous with music lovers, not only in Hull but the whole country. In 2007 The company was relocated in new premises 'Under the City Hall' and is now owned and managed by Hull's own Alan Kilvington who first joined 'Goughs' as a sales assistant in 1995. Al 'Kilvo' is an Americana piano player from Hull, Yorkshire England who plays with a style and verve described as that of the Killer - Jerry Lee Lewis - himself. It has more of an art deco / modern feel inside than most English theatres, but still retains the traditional opulent feeling, with red upholstery, wall panels, and curtain. It's a perfect size - not so big that you lose sight of your children, but not so small that older children don't get any fun out of it. In fact, school-age children love it, and there's also a baby/toddler room for the littlies. There are trampolines, big slides, tunnel slides and climbing ropes, plus a mini football pitch. Oh, and books to read and a dressing-up box! Prices are reasonable and you can pay for everything (including food, drink and snacks) at the end as you leave, which is very convenient. I'd like to specially highlight the fact that the food at Quackers is very healthy - party food includes carrot and cucumber sticks with hummus, and snacks range from jacket potatotes to wholemeal sandwiches (although white ones are available too). It's little extra touches like this that make Quackers worth visiting regularly.

Displays include the only dinosaur bones to have been found in East Yorkshire, Bronze Age warriors and their huts, and spectacular treasures from the Middle Ages. You can stroll through an Iron Age village and visit a Roman bath house. For me the awesome thing is the boat. In a glass tank, constantly sprayed with wax and water is this enormous wooden boat, an Iron Age logboat the Hasholme boat was installed in the gallery within its conservation chamber in 1988. They then shut the museum for restoration and archeological exploration (under it) but when it reopened they had created new Celtic World displays (1991) and put in a Mezzanine floor. Late 1990s displays about the prehistoric period in East Yorkshire were created. The Roman galleries were refurbished in 2002 and, in 2003, Anglo-Saxon and medieval displays were installed. Parts of three timber buildings have been reconstructed in the galleries and a medieval kiln reconstructed as well as a leatherworks. There is a huge Tudor gun and lots of beautiful Roman mosaics. This museum has so much and is very educational. Great views of the river too. The only photo I have of the Hasholme boat is an archeological one in situ but gives an idea of size.
