Whitney's Restaurant is such a fun surprise in a former gas station--now a bright, plant-filled space with a relaxed, stylish vibe. The staff, from host to server, was genuinely friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed delicious cocktails, including one served in a fabulous pineapple tumbler. The Florida salad was fresh, bright, and light. Grouper bites were nicely done, and the smashburger came with a magic sauce that made it especially satisfying. A great place to settle in, enjoy the atmosphere, and try a mix of fresh, well-made dishes. I'll be back to explore more of the menu.

I wasn't sure I'd like this place because it is so kitschy but I was wrong! The place is adorable and the food is fresh and tasty. Our server was very friendly and helpful when trying to decide on what to order. I ended up ordering the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. I liked how they laid the lettuce leaves in the bowl and showered it with a snow of Parmesan. All in all it was super tasty. I'll be back!

This past weekend we were on mini road trip, returning to Orlando from my hometown. We wanted to find a cute place to stop for lunch along the way with some nice views to enjoy the gorgeous weather. Thanks to Yelp, we came across Whitney's and it ended up being the best decision we made all day. This little diner style restaurant is such a vibe, located directly across from the beach on Longboat Key. This whole area was hit very hard by the recent hurricanes and many homes & businesses were completely flooded or destroyed. We were talking to our sweet server and she was telling us how bad the damage was. I'm glad to see that Whitney's has reopened and is recovering from such a devastating time. Every corner of this building is just begging for a photo. So of course, I had to give her what she wants. They have a beautiful indoor bar and booth seating, a covered patio, and a merch store. Their branding is definitely on point, so I get why people would want to rep it. We ordered their signature frosé, coconut shrimp, the blackened grouper sandwich, double smashburger, and sweet potato fries. The coconut shrimp were large and the dipping sauce they come with was incredible. We both enjoyed our sandwich/burger, but the sweet potato fries were freakin fantastic. It was a very generous portion and I couldn't stop eating them. The baby had to eat, too, so this was the perfect cozy spot to relax as he guzzled down his bottle. I appreciated that they had a changing table in the bathroom so that we could easily get a fresh diaper on him and get back on the road. Even though we were just passing through, this quick stop made me want to return to the area again to do some exploring in the future.

I love a cutesy place for brunch or lunch! This restaurant is cute and beautifully located on Longboat Key!! It's casual, so come as you are. We were dressed for brunch and that was fine, too! Service was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, brunch is only on the weekends, so we had to have lunch instead. We enjoyed the Mimosa Bellini, flavorful and light. I had their Grouper Tacos and they were tasty. I didn't care for their pineapple "salsa" as I like a bit of heat with my tacos instead of sweet. My daughter had their Carne Asada Tacos and said they tasted good, but missed sides. I agreed. You'll pay $25 for 2 tacos, without a side. I didn't think the value was good, as tacos were good, but nothing outstanding. We ended with Ricotta Donuts and didn't care for them. They came out pretty dark and the inside was mushy. We got a second batch, but those were even darker and still mushy inside. Waiter explained that it could be because they are ricotta donuts. Could be OR could be because they weren't fried at the correct temperature. Overall, I love their vibe and would return and try something else or enjoy a cocktail here. It's definitely a cute place!

What a cute find along the way to the beach. This place is a total vibe with chill music, good drinks and the food. Our bartender Chuck suggested the best drinks and food.

Sydney our server was EXCEPTIONAL. Kind, informed, personable, receptive and attentive. She just adds to the specialty of Whitney's. It's unique both in location (once was a gas station) and how this venue is set up. Cool breezes on covered patio and full entrance to inside. (See photo). Only had drinks (very good Bloody Mary) w a side of sweet potato fries. Presented in a cute dish and table with nice cloth napkins. Love this place opened from 11 to 9. Breakfast only on weekends

Great vibes, and the food is great! It is very overpriced for the type of food they have, but besides that, I would definitely recommend

whitney's is the coziest and most beautiful little beach-side cafe you can find!!! this hidden gem is not only delicious but also a creatives dream -- the interior is stunning and set to inspire anyone who walks in. FOOD : i got the rice bowl with grouper and absolutely loved it. I have never had grouper before and the fish tasted fresh and mild, no fishy taste at all! i left feeling good and the meal wasn't too heavy. There is a ton of rice though so it definitely could be filling if you eat it all! I liked the veggies but they were a little too roasted and not soft enough for my personal taste. It threw the dish off for me a little but overall the good outweighed the parts i wasn't obsessed with. My sister got the chicken sandwich and it was incredible!!!! The sweet potato fries were honestly the best i have ever had. I almost ate more of her plate than she did! The chicken was fresh and juicy and the whole dish came together nicely. SERVICE : the atmosphere is as stated - beautiful, inspiring, refreshing, and fun. Our waiter was helpful and fun and we had a great experience as far as service went. overall i couldn't recommend this place enough!

The marina setting is such a vibe, with dockside picnic tables, a tiki bar, and a small indoor space with a bar and a few tables. We were genuinely blown away by the quality of the food. Everything tasted incredibly fresh the menu says "caught and served same day," and it absolutely lives up to that promise. The blackened fish tacos were a standout and some of the best we've had. The Caesar salad dressing is made In house and is absolutely delicious! We added the blackened mahi and it was filling and delicious. I have mastered a homemade recipe and I'm hard to impress when it comes to Caesar . (We ordered it extra saucy) The only thing we didn't love was the grouper spread, but that was more of a personal preference--it leaned more toward a tuna fish style spread rather than the creamier version we were expecting. The service was great too, the waiters are obviously kept super busy in a spot like that but still managed to get the job done with a smile! Overall, this was easily some of the best food we've had in Florida in the 10 years we've been coming here for spring break. We'll definitely be adding this spot to our yearly rotation.

We got there a little early for our reservation and they were immediately ready to seat us. They even made an effort to place us near the fish tank so our toddler could watch the fish during dinner, which I really appreciated. The restaurant itself felt more intimate than I expected. I've seen reviews mention the awkward layout, but I actually thought it gave the space a cozy feel. Unfortunately, the food and service didn't fully live up to the prices. Our waiter was kind, but we barely saw him during the meal and waited quite a while for drink refills. I'd also mentioned in the reservation notes that it was my husband's birthday dinner and our first time visiting, but neither was acknowledged during dinner. Normally that wouldn't bother me much, but with the pricing and the restaurant's elevated presentation - polished uniforms, fresh seafood options, extensive wine menu - it felt like there should've been a little more attention to the overall experience. My husband did absolutely love the coleslaw that came with his fish and chips, especially the pineapple in it, which he'd never tried before. I ordered the grouper tacos and thought they were okay, but not especially satisfying. They came with a salad, and I found myself wishing I could've swapped it for fries or a heartier side. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing or misunderstood the menu options. Most of the crowd during our visit seemed older, and the restaurant definitely feels geared toward that demographic. While I don't think we'd personally rush back, I'm still glad we gave it a try. I also thought it was a nice touch that they offer a 15% discount to the ice cream shop next door if you bring your receipt.

I love Dry Dock Waterfront Grill and I always visit when I am in the Sarasota area. Dry Dock is always busy so I am also sure to make a reservation in advance using Open Table. The inside atmosphere is bright and airy and although airy often translates to loud, Dry Dock thoughtfully put noise dampening panels on the ceiling. As far as food, I don't think you can go wrong. I always get something with grouper whether it be an entree, sandwich or tacos. On my most recent visit I got the grouper filet with coconut shrimp because I had originally been eyeing up the coconut shrimp as an appetizer. Ultimately, we decided to get the rock crab claws for an appetizer which were good but more work than I planned even though they were pre-cracked. I felt like a Neanderthal trying to eat those crab claws in such a nice restaurant. No offense to the Neanderthals, of course! I have no idea what my husband had as it disappeared. After entrees, apps and bread, we were too stuffed for dessert. I think our server was Cari and she was awesome! Attentive, friendly, funny and quite possibly a mind reader and magician. She saw the hanger in my eyes and made bread magically appear. I hope I got her name correct because she was superb!
