I chose to go with local instead of general anesthesia due to the cost. So I was awake and aware during the whole procedure. Went to do the surgery of the first portion, and woke up with ALL UPPERS taken and the lower done. Not the plan that I was informed of nor discussed prior to going under. I thought having a surgical plan was something to follow, not just an idea that gets thrown out t he window for what ever reason. There is no emergency reason for this since this overall was an elective procedure and the time from consult to surgery was about 5 months.

My insurance sent me to ETOMS. After exrays it was decided the implants needed to come out. The dentist wasn't gentle or kind but I was in a great deal of mouth pain! I was forced to pay out of pocket for the actual removal of the implants. $1,130! (I am disabled with low fixed income but I had to get to the surgery!) The insurance paid for the rest of the procedure but denied coverage for the actual surgery. After 16 months of monthly calls to the dental insurance company I was FINALLY informed what the core cause of my not being reimbursed! ETOMS performed a procedure they didn't have the procedure code for! This wasn't explained to me until today. I called this office many times trying to understand the issue. Will I get a refund? With 16 months interest? This was a terrible experience all around!

On the day of he poked around for a bit and was done before I realized - when he was finished my immediate response was "wait, you're done already?" While other dentists in the area are excellent for regular dental work, I highly recommend getting a referral to Dr Mascaro for any extractions, or worse. I have some implant work coming up next month with him, I feel like my dental care is in good hands. The rest of the staff are really friendly too.
