It is conveniently located beside the local GP / Health centre, offers a prescription service for those needing regular repeats, and has a private room for consultations and checkups. Staff are generally friendly and knowledgeable about medicines and minor illnesses / injuries. It lets itself down by not having sufficient amounts of prescription medicines in stock; with staff often asking customers to return later in the day or the following one. It causes further inconvenience by remaining closed due to the qualified pharmacist not being available, which happens quite often. Sometimes, there are three or four people outside the front door at 8.30am waiting to collect medicines promised the previous day but pharmacy assistants cannot open up or handover owed items unless and until the pharmacist arrives. Not sure whether this is problem exclusively to the Whalley store but it is certainly a problem and causes a lot of inconvenience to people using its services. Even more so considering that some will have had to pay £1.00 for parking on the Whalley Arms care park!!

The store is clean and tidy, with everything set out neatly on the shelves, easy to find what you are looking for. There are always great deals on the products, especially Boots No7 brand cosmetics. I love shopping in this store, they have a great reduced section too! If they don't have the item you want in stock, they are happy to order it in for you. This all changed on Wednesday 19th February 2014 when I approached the till operated by the assistant Ruth to pay for an item. I told this assistant that I wished to pay for the item using my Boots points and that I also had a discount voucher that I would like to redeem at the same time. She informed me that I was not allowed to use the discount voucher at the same time as redeeming points, I accepting this explanation without any problem. At this point she appeared to assume that I no longer wished to redeem my Boots points and once again she gave me the price in cash. I reiterated that I wanted to pay for the item with my points. At this, she very abruptly replied "you did not make that clear to me" repeating this more than once. I politely pointed out that I believed that I had made my intentions clear from the outset; she repeatedly insisted that I hadn't. Her attitude towards me was such that I felt that I was being admonished in the presence of other customers behind me in the queue. Not wishing to engage further in an argument with her, I paid for my purchase and left. If there was a misunderstanding between us, it certainly was not on my part and I hoped for an apology from her but instead I received a scolding. I believe I am owed an apology from Ruth as I left Boots Chemist very upset and reprimanded. I am a very alert lady in my early seventies but I was left feeling that I no longer had my dignity. However i find the layout quite confusing at times with womens hair removal products being on one random shelf in the middle of the store miles away from all the mens razors which is the area i would expect to find them near. Prices are also probably cheap elsewhere but of course with Boots there is the added bonus of advantage points. The tills are also in a bit of a random place in the middle of the store, but the staff are really polite and often do have a quick chat with you rather than just check out your items and take your money- which is a nice change!

They have a drop off point for perscriptions in store. You can either wait for your medication or have a look around the store or other shops and then pick it up when it is ready. Boots sell a really good range of baby clothes and they even do a premiture baby range which i love as not many shops do. I bought a child gate from here last year and it was only £18 i thought that was a bargain. Also if you buy boots nappies they are only £1.81 that is fantastic value for money and in my opinion they are just as good if not better than pampers and huggies

The rest of the store is split into the usual sections, the one bit i do find slightly disappointing is the three for two offer section, especially at this time of year when the hristmas offers are on. The two tills at the front can get quite a few people queuing and people often use the perfume counters. The staff are quite good at giving advice on products as well.
