Enchanting place and a must see while in El Paso. This is a very unique place and upon entering I thought I had entered some type of Western funhouse with the wax figures and cow skulls, very cool experience. Like other reviewers mention, there are two floors and it is truly a treasure hunting experience so be prepared to spend some time there to get the full experience. There is a varied amount of vendors and the items are very unique and different from many of the surrounding antique malls and thrift stores. I found a few items that I just adored. By far the best antique shop I ever been too. Love coming here and seeing what new oddities they have. Can easily spend a few hrs here looking around and not get bored. Some statues give me the hibbee jibbees but other than that its fun to shop. Seeing toys I had when I was a kid here to seeing old wood stoves my grand parents use to have. Its really is like walking through several time periods. Especially if you are a history buff like I am, they have so many historical items for sale. Need to check it out even if you are just driving through. Its worth the stop. read more

OMG! OMG! OMG! Do you like antique stores, junk stores, treasure hunting or a step back in time? Yes!? Go here. Spend the day, go back the next day. You still won't see everything. Outside is covered in alien statues, metal everything, old (I mean old) appliances, Big Boy statues, random weird yard ornaments. Inside is filled with individual booths of EVERYTHING - old license plates, bottles, Coke collectables, trunks, pot belly stoves, etc etc etc. Go upstairs if you like vinyl records. I've come to really love Whoopee Bowl and in the past month I've made two trips. Honestly I could easily make two more trips before the month is over. There's just so much stuff that even if their inventory really hasn't changed in that small amount of time, I find something I didn't see last time. And it doesn't hurt that my husband loves rummaging through Whoopee Bowl too. Whoopee! For the most part, Whoopee Bowl hasn't changed a bit. Sure there's a different inventory than there was three years ago when I wrote my original review (although the phone booth is still there) and the owner's dog doesn't make appearances anymore, it's good ol' Whoopee Bowl. The first trip I took my husband on out here we only had about 45 minutes until closing, but I came on a quest for vintage books and either a tray or something I could finish and use as a tray. I left with vintage books, a tray that looks to have been made from pallets in good condition, and a washboard (because who doesn't need a washboard?). We didn't get a good look at everything because it was so close to closing time, but luckily I realized I needed more vintage books so we had a reason to go back. The next time I found a few books that I pretty much swooned over... there's something magical about picking up a book that was printed before the 1900's. My husband also found a fishing pole that had some significance (I'm not familiar with any fishing poles so I couldn't tell you what that significance was). At the moment, my quest was solely for items for our master bedroom and bathroom, but I almost went home with a oil lamp for my office. Whoopee Bowl has so many interesting items, so much history... "an antique wonderland" as I previously said. You can negotiate a bit on pricing of certain items, but since a majority of it is consignment, there isn't a ton of wiggle room unless you're willing to wait and let them talk to the actual owner of the piece. But if you're looking for vintage books, all of the books located on the upper level by the stairs are $5! I can seriously spend hours at Whoopee Bowl and if you have even the smallest amount of appreciation for history, you probably will too. read more

Love love love this geographical treasure! My husband and I love our hunts for good antique stores or malls and this one tops all! Like most antique spots, you have the few not so old mixed with the very very old but this place is true to their antique title more than new. Winning in our books! My husband is a huge sucker for historical pieces and since this place actually has all that and then some, this is our favorite go to spot on a bored saturday morning. Theres also a sweet koi pond where you can feed them. The food dispenser is from a lil gumball stand. On top of that, they sell really cheap popcorn that they make fresh throughout the day. And we got to feed this free roaming chicken on the lot. How more fun can an antique store get??? read more

Yaaaawn. For the indoor space (all 11,000 square feet of it), Whoopee Bowl gets 2 stars--maybe 3 if I'm feeling generous. While they have some beautiful furniture and old appliances, they have got to be kidding with the prices. And for such a large antique mall there is not a lot of diversity in products. Only one stall had vintage clothing. Poor quality, expensive, clothing. $30 for a vintage slip--no thanks! Not a whole lot of housewares either. I tried on one dress, which involved following arrows through a factory making custom car interiors. Fairly creepy. But if I were rating Whoopee Bowl based on the crazy amounts of awesome stuff in the yard, they'd get 4 stars. Clawfoot tubs, vintage pinball machines, crazy torn apart prams, old wooden boxes. A man's junk is another man's treasure. And boy was this place a gold mine. I'm glad my friends and I took a road trip here, since there isn't much antique shops in the area I live in. Maybe small ones, but this one is huge! Parking lot, outside the entrance, inside, and the 2nd floor is filled with interesting antqiues! They're open Mondays - Fridays and parking lot is to your left upon entrance. They have everything from life size props, old furnances, paintings, little knick-knacks, old military gear, records, and benches. However, it is pricey. You really gotta dig through stuff to find decent prices. I got a steel rustic wine rack for $12. I'm satisfied. Lol. There's a lot of potential for the old stuff, if you're into the whole diy. There are sections or they would call it "rooms" where things are sorta categorized. Only specific rooms have military discount (20%) due to the person selling it. I enjoyed visiting this place, although at times it was overwhelming, especially upstairs. It's not well organized, but that is part of the charm. It was fun to stroll through and look at everything. The number of stoves was impressive. If there was one thing I would recommend, it would be to try and organize the vinyl records upstairs. I'm a big vinyl collector, and this was one of the most impressive collections I have ever seen, but I gave up after a few minutes because there was no way to look through them all. read more

A fun place to go to just wander and take a look into the past. A personal favorite spot to check when visiting the in laws, I've found a few treasures that have found practical and decorative use in my home. A shame that the "prostitute" licenses aren't real- if they carried more real historical objects of the sort, I'd be inclined to start a collection. Also, many of their records are scratched which I know is not their fault. My father n law looked a bit best broken as he looked them over. However, there is plenty more to look and find to suit the tastes of anyone. read more

This looked like my kind of place. Drove down a rutted dirt road and swung through the gate to see a large building with piles of rusty junk surrounding. This is what I seek, weird shaped rusty iron that I can clean and use in my welding. I spent the next half hour prowling through piles until I had accumulated a nice stash and went inside to get someone to price it. He began by eliminating about half my finding because they were stove parts and the owner wouldn't part with any...even there were whole stoves, part stoves, crumbling stoves, etc all over. Why display them if they aren't for sale? What was left in my meager pile were quickly priced and my mouth sagged with every item. Believe me these objects that are left outside to turn into dirt were totally unrealistically priced. So go and look and bring your plastic but you can't buy any stove parts! read more

Don't know what to do with teens. Try going treasure hunting. A Museum can cost $5.00-$15.00 dollars to enter per person. Go here with that same money and see who can walk out with the coolest treasure. Very clean compared to other antique places. I especially enjoyed the mannequins spread through out the store to give you a scare. It is a rent a space with different vendors selling there items. So you will never know what you will find. Alot of it is on the spendy side but you can find some bargains if you are willing to get lost exploring all the nooks and crannies. You can spend hours in an air conditioned building dreaming of all you will buy when you win the lottery. I spent $10 on a propane coleman two burner stove wirh all the hoses included (like we needed a other one but who could pass up that price!). $10 on a coffee and tea solid wood double drawer stand. Very cute. $5 for an old metal recipe box with handwritten and old clips from the early 60's. I just couldn't leave it knowing that some little old woman had taken the time to write out those recipes and her family just discarded them. My luck they either took out the good ones and left me with the bad ones or she was a horrible cook and they thought they had buried them with her... something to think about. My husband bought three USA made heavy duty tools like my dad has (1/2 inch ratchet and two crescent wrenches- HUH...AND HE SAYS I NEVER LISTEN!!) and a knob he is going to make into a gearshifter. With tax we spent $63 total. read more

This place is like Disneyland for anyone who loves thrifting and antiques. Really cool stuff, make sure you can visit for at least an hour. The store is really dusty and sometimes there's piles of objects that you have to dig through but it's really worth the trip. read more

There's about a million records. If you are looking for a particular album and have a few days to sort through them all, you might get lucky. I was looking for vintage dishes. Only a handful of pieces of jadeite, fiesta, Pyrex, milk glass was in short supply. And the jadeite canister set I saw was $79. On eBay, for a clean set was like $60 with shipping! A Griffiths 12 piece dirty spice set for $79...on eBay for like $30. The Pyrex pieces were few and expensive. The yellow 404 of the primary set was $30!!!! This is an antique store/museum at those crazy prices. read more

The Whoopie Bowl IS the place to stop when travelling thru El Paso. I have been several times the last few years and have bought something everytime I stop. Yes, there are some overpriced items, just as you find everywhere. But it is a good place to browse and they have done allot of reorganizing and lots of new areas cleared out. read more
