Law-uy is a soup loaded with veggies and with a lovely broth flavored by aromatics of lemongrass and ginger. I loved how the broth was very clear and crisp and it was definitely a mouth cleanser. Every veggie was crisp and cooked to perfection. The ambiance of the place was really nice, we got there around opening time and it was very homey and warm. We took off our shoes and the wood floor was nice. The staff were all attentive. Ended with some chocolate ice cream to hit the spot. If you're ever in Siquijor, definitely check this place out!

Though I am not a local, I've literally been coming here for 20+ years when I'm home in Dumaguete. This place I also associate with home because my grandma's house was literally two doors down and we would come here to eat. This place will always share a special piece of my heart as my dad would frequent this place and eat here everyday when he was staying next door. For years my dad would bring his guests here and they would not disappoint. If you want good food, and even better company - rest assured you'll find it here. Ambiance: you can bring a date, your family, or party with your friends on their live music nights. This place is poppin' and clean. I feel safe here - their bathrooms are clean and their service is excellent. the beautiful thing about this place is that it can even host big parties. We've even had tables of 16+ people accommodations for us. Seating: You have plenty of choices. Downstairs by the stage. Upstairs with a great view of the beach.Bar seating. And even indoor seating in Lab-as. Take your pick! Food: Tapsilog always a fave. They have extremely fresh fish and sell it by the pound. It is soooo tasty I cannot. I love their LapuLapu and an all-around fave is the Bangus lumpia. Fresh mango shakes and calamansi are a must. Alcohol: Take your pick. They have top shelf and local beer. They make extravagant drinks with flames and everything! Drinks here are IG worthy alongside the food. You will go home well fed and nourished. Parking: Be smart about it - there's a lot in the front that people are willing to help park (you're expected to tip) and even better it's not so clustered like it is in South point... this place literally giives you everything you need! Upon entry, you will be greeted by the bouncer who also serves as the ticket seller. Door fee is php80 with free drink (our that time was between rhum coke and vodka sprite, we chose the latter). Don't expect too much from the mix. Ours didn't taste like vodka sprite but for the price you pay, it's hard to fault the bar for offering sub-standard versions. Inside is a squarish-area with low ceiling. That made the place look smaller than it really is. The bar is to the left while the dj booth is on the right. There are several tall tables and quite a number of smaller ones. These are all for free as long as you get in early. I was told that they invite guest DJs every Saturday and the one playing that night was superb. Tunes are mostly Billboard Top 100 remixes. The crowd is a motley combination. There are locals (very easy to spot as they usually dress laid back), old, creepy foreigners, young foreigners, and college students. The older foreigners get in quite drunk so they're rowdier and creepier than normal. The club follows a strict dresscodes for men. No Sando / Sleeveless, no slippers. Shorts are okay though. Oh and you're only allowed to smoke outside. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. Definitely a step towards the right direction for Dumaguete. I just wish they can jack the price some more so unsavory locals can't get in and mess up the otherwise good crowd. I guess that's hard to do in Dumaguete where people are probably used to paying a smidge for almost everything.

It is WONDERFUL and I highly recommend it for people staying at Modala as well as visitors to the island at other resorts. Food, service, ambience, beach/oceanview-- everything is top notch! A breakfast buffet is included with your stay and it is amazing. Lots of local fare, as well as some western options. Offerings I've seen include Filipino breakfast items, a soup station, rice porridge station (one day was champorado, the next was congee), an omelette station, pancit, pastries, fresh fruit and salad bar. Everything I've tried has been delicious, flavorful and well made. The staff is excellent, well-trained, friendly, and attentive. My first day at the breakfast buffet, I must've looked confused bc I was helped by at least 3 different servers: grabbing my plate to bring to the table, serving calamansi juice, hot chocolate and coffee (even though it was buffet and I could have retrieved those items myself), and explaining what dishes I was looking at. We also got to chatting with a few of the waitstaff who were very helpful and knowledgeable of the various tourist attractions around the area. The restaurant is fairly spacious and boasts a large al fresco dining area with a bar. If you sit at the beach and order drinks at the bar, they'll bring it out to you! I never sat indoors but inside seems to have generous air conditioning in case you need a little reprieve from the heat, though the front of the restaurant view is not as cute (faces the garage). The views from the outdoor dining area are spectacular, the exact idyllic and tranquil scenery you'd want from an island vacation-- palm trees, turquoise blue clear ocean, white sandy beach, and Philippine bangkas (boats with double outriggers) floating serenely in the water. Such a huge fan of this place!! If I ever have another vacation in Panglao, I would definitely make a stop or few at Mangaon Ta!!
