Just moved to the neighborhood, and am absolutely loving this gym. I really like the class style, with a focus on strength, working on the same exercises each day of the week for the month, and then switching things up the following month. Everyone is also super friendly and willing to help, instructors as well as the other members. It's also really cool to see a gym where the members have belonged for a long time (years), which you don't see that much these days at other gyms and studios. Love the music and the vibes. I attended Wicked Fit for the first time after living in the neighborhood for 5 years! It is a lovely community and I can see why it has great reviews. As soon as you arrive, you can feel the great energy in the room, however, you can smell it too. I was a bit taken back with the space. This is why I am giving 4 stars. Considering how expensive memberships and classes are, you would think their cleanliness would be exceptional...especially with it being a sweaty gym. Equipment is well loved which isn't a problem but everything else seems to be too (yoga mats, walls, floors all need a little tlc). As a previous business owner, I understand there are overhead costs, however... when charging someone close to $200/mo, you would expect a visually pleasing experience. I can honestly say joining Wicked Fit helped change my life. Wicked Fit has helped me gain confidence in myself, given me a love for movement, and made me an all-around more active person. The classes are fun and leave me sweaty. I love that during that hour of workout - nothing else matters. I don't think about work, my bills, or my obligations. The music is always fun and gets me to shake my booty between kettlebell swings. That kind of mindful fitness makes me feel free (and sore!). The trainers are thoughtful, wonderful human beings. The WF members are all regular people - not gym rats, or fitness buffs, just people who are getting a killer workout in a community-oriented space. I absolutely LOVE Wicked Fit!!! I disliked exercise my whole life and started at this gym 6 months ago right after my 60th birthday. In the past 6 months, I have increased my strength tremendously, improved my balance, learned to run around 2 full blocks without stopping for the first time in my life, and built new friendships. The trainers are incredibly skilled and motivating! I adore every one of them, even when they are pushing me! They are invested in every member and authentically want to see each of us be challenged. After a month of classes I was so happy about my decision to stick this gym out! Kristen has created such a safe place where I feel empowered rather than objectified. I hadn't worked out regularly since 2019 and felt like I wasn't in good enough shape for most fitness classes. I don't want to rate it to low because I did enjoy attending this gym. However, when I signed up I had the intention of only being there for about a few months and even discussed that from the beginning. I was told no problem she would work with me. There was no cancellation fees, some fee for. It being there for 6 months but that she would work with me on it. I continued on and into my second month I was told she would offer to sell me the meal plan for $50 if I agreed to give her three months. I agreed and bought the plan. I had intended on staying even longer as I enjoyed this gym but unforeseen circumstances put that to a stop. Illness, death in the family having to travel and take care of my family, and shortly after that I found out my partner and I are expecting and on top of it all we had to move. I communicated this all to them and asked to hold off on the next payment. I got no response and sure enough I was charged for another month after I had already been communicating with them the month prior about a couple of the things going on in my life. I explained to her that I was charged and needed to be refunded. That's when I was told I would only get $104 of the $179 since I didn't give them a months notice to cancel or freeze. Not only that, it took me over a month of reaching out before I finally actually got my refund. It was truly disappointing because I really enjoyed this gym and everyone in it. If I didn't have to move so abruptly and could continue through my pregnancy, I would have stayed. So even though it seems like an no catch gym, there is a couple. Just make sure you are very clear on their freeze and cancel policy. read more

I have been going to this gym for about 6 months. I love all the trainers and the people that go. It has a real sense of community. There is a wide variety of classes and class times. The trainers and the classes are challenging but they are quick to give alternate exercises if you have an injury. I am in my 40's and have worked out hard my entire life. I don't review businesses as much as I want to, but I had to review G Fit. I have tried EVERYTHING to lose weight and get fit and nothing has worked until i did a G-fit challenge! And let me clarify, by telling you I tried everything, I mean I tried to work out and eat somewhat healthy for 3 weeks. (Alright, maybe not a valiant effort) However, the problem was I never saw any results in those 3 weeks. I would give up and I love FOOD and somebody would have a birthday and there I was back to old habits. That's all changed now. My sister roped me into doing a G-fit challenge and I'm so GLAD i did it. I lost about 10lbs in 4 and 1/2 weeks! The most shocking thing about the challenge is it completely changed my eating habits in only 4 weeks. I eat so healthy that I constantly surprise myself. I used to eat fast foods or unhealthy foods all the time. Now, I know how to cook healthy, I know how to shop for healthy foods and it's all 2nd nature to me. Let's face it, we are all just a google search away from knowing WHAT we need to do lose weight. I can list the things right here. Eat less, eat healthy, work out. I knew I needed to eat healthier and work out, but I was stuck because no one really showed me HOW to do it until I joined the G-fit challenge. If you are considering a challenge, please just do it. You will see what I mean as soon as you do the first orientation. Everything is completely laid out for you, from meal plans to shopping lists to 100% support from members and trainers. Oscar, Jules and Nicole are truly amazing people that will answer any questions you have and support you along the way. I want everyone to have this feeling. I can't say enough about wicked fit! I came for the gains and I got so much more! Laughs, friends and the best way to start my days. These workouts full of dynamic movement , building strength, improving form no two workouts are the same. I am writing this review because I want others to know just how beneficial the gym has been for me! The time leading up to, and during the holidays (2017) left me feeling bloated and overweight. I joined the GFIT Challenge because it was only 6 weeks, and figured the time commitment was very doable. The treks up Cowles, the FIT classes, and the yoga options have left me with nice little muscles and tone, better fitting clothes, deeper sleep, and a renewed appreciation for good and healthy food! I honestly believe I have changed for the better--and get this, friends--better for life! I can't thank GFIT and Ginseng enough for all their support. I have new friendships (yaaaay!), a new (continually changing for the better) body, a healthier spirit, and a new life outlook! I was a bit skeptical about trying Gfit. I am a more traditional weights/running kind of guy, and the thought of classes turned me off. My impression was that most classes are more aerobics oriented, and that in general the goals were primarily weight loss, with a lack of emphasis on resistance training. I also couldn't see the value of paying north of $100/month for just classes. I gave Oscar a try, and boy was I wrong. His FIT class alternates body parts every day of the week, and the intensity is 100% scalable. If you put in 100%, you get 100% results. The classes are a mix of crossfit, TRX, TABATA, and interval training, but what distinguishes each class is the emphasis on "plateau busters". For anyone who has gotten into a grind or plateau with their workout, Oscar is a specialist at getting you out of it. With the exception of the warm-up, which is consistent, I have yet to have two workouts here that were identical. What I also like is the change in emphasis and style from class to class. For example, there will be a chest/back day where the focus is heavy weight and reaching your max, and then next week the chest/back day will be all about repetitions or stability work. It's really never boring, and the results are dramatic. I would say that to get the best results, you should commit to 4-5 days a week. It's hard for the first couple weeks, but once you get accustomed to it, it becomes easier to mentally push yourself (even if it's never physically "easy"). I think for those who have not done classes before (talking to you, guys), there is an under-appreciated value to having to commit. Sure, you may spend an extra $100-150/month over your 24 hour fitness, but I promise you that you will push yourself harder and be much more consistent. Having to be accountable to someone else is a huge value. Finally, Oscar provides personal training attention, and really customizes your goals. So for me, weight loss was less of a priority, so he has helped me focus on heavier weights (he has competition level experience, so his knowledge is deep). But he really works with you on what you want to achieve. The classes are generally small (many have 4-5 people), so if you think of it as a shared personal training session, the value of the membership is actually very high. read more

Love it!! Been a member for a little over 3 months now and I don't even want to imagine my life without GFit. Convenient class schedule with a good mix of instructors and classes. Instructors keep it challenging and classes keep me sore. Everyone is friendly. I like that the classes incorporate strength training and cardio. Started out doing way more burpees than I would have liked but now I don't feel complete without them. I consistently worked out prior to joining GFit, but can definitely tell I am stronger now. This review is long over due. I have been a GFIT member for 3 months now and I can honestly say I love everything about this place! I've always lived an active lifestyle but have always wanted that extra toned body. I kept saying I wanted it but going to gyms like 24 hour fitness, my own motivation would barely last a month. I would get into that one month of eating healthy/working out then three months of slacking off the moment I saw small improvements. The trainers at GFIT are the best. Each has their own personal style, so even after three months you still get a good work out from the variety of styles and classes offered. They correct you in a positive way so you learn the right way to get the results a specific move should entail. They also push you in a positive way; the gym has a small environment atmosphere so the trainers know you personally and push you to bring your best. The other members are also friendly and it's just so nice to work out in a small group where you encourage and push each other to be your best. Briere are beginners and people that have been coming for a few years but the work outs are feared so that you set the tone for your work out. You pick the weight amount you're comfortable with and although they give you reps for goals, you just do your best to beat your own record day in and day out. The work outs are honestly addicting! They're hard, I won't lie but, I leave feeling more confident about myself everyday having completed my workout there. I'm just so grateful to finally find a place like this that makes me want to continue coming day in and day out. Where everyone is positive and encouraging. Where the work outs have variety and are challenging. And where you leave feeling physically and mentally stronger and more confident. read more

I come to GFit because left to my own devices at a regular gym, I'll stop working out as soon as I get tired. The GFit classes are just small enough where I get the individual attention and accountability I need to push myself during a workout to the point where I actually start seeing a difference in my body. I love Zoarel & Oscar's classes; they are definitely tough but also give me the info I need to make sure I don't hurt myself while exercising. I also feel noticed and welcome at GFit - not just by the trainers but also by the regular members. I get as much motivation watching my fellow members push themselves and get stronger as I do from the trainers. Also, no GFit workout is ever the same and a different part of the body is targeted each day. I appreciate this especially when I'm sore from the previous day's work out - I know we'll work on a different part the next day! Thanks GFit. I LOVE GFit! I was hesitant at first to leave my beloved spin classes, but Oscar and GFit have made me fall in love with a different type of exercise. The classes are always unique, challenging for all types of athletic abilities, and small enough so you get great individualized attention. Everyone who works here knows your name, is encouraging, and wants to see you improve. I love the fact that I don't have to think about my workout, I just show up and it's already planned out for me. I am not someone who likes to workout, I am not a big fan of the industrial grit of most gyms, but I am willing to try anything twice and I am super glad I did! GFit is a bright, open, welcoming and wonderful place to workout. The trainers at GFit make each work out fresh, fun, and accessible, even for weaklings like me. I never feel like I am not strong or coordinated enough to do the workout. I have found myself laughing and smiling while working out and making new friends, it really is fun! I am always encouraged and supported by the GFit staff who know my goals and genuinely care about my success. I WILL DO A PULL UP! That's my goal. I started going to group FIT classes 3x a week and in 2 weeks I was down 5lbs, 3inches, and gained 1lb of new muscle. I cant wait to see where I am at now! The best part is, I just feel better. Happier, healthier, more capable of accomplishing my daily challenges knowing I started the day off being good to my body. Love this place! I have been living in the area for a couple of years and I'm so angry I didn't find this place sooner! I've only been going for three weeks, I did the unlimited week for $20 then bought a pack of classes. I have taken Oscar's TRX class and Zoarel's FIT class and thoroughly enjoy them both I came to Gfit for a couple of reasons, firstly, I'm not a huge fan of corporate gyms. I find them really really boring and distracting. I have always been more responsive to coach based training and small group training. I find it much more motivating and enjoyable. And that's exactly what Gfit is like. The trainers are so friendly and approachable. During a class, they offer corrections and motivate you (right at the end of a set when you're feeling weak!) This place is fantastic if you want to show up, work hard and leave feeling accomplished. Another reason I came to Gfit was because I am pregnant and had to rearrange my fitness routine. (I was a Figure Skater pre-baby-bump) So instead, I started Pilates, which has been great for conditioning and pelvic floor but I really needed some weight training and cardio. The trainers at Gfit have been awesome about my pregnancy, they let me workout just like everyone else but they're there to offer modifications for crunches, jumps and inversions. Aside from that, the facility is loaded with easy to use, "functional" equipment. They have everything you need, it's well laid out and clean. My plan is to continue taking classes all the way through my pregnancy (barring any unforeseen complications) and start a membership as soon as I can after the baby is born! read more

Everyone here is friendly and personable. I love that they know my name and sincerely care about my progress. And there is none of that pretentious vibe you sometimes get at other studios. I've had a couple small injuries and Oscar is great at ensuring the work out is safe while extremely challenging. In two months I've seen incredible results. I also am a huge fan of the barre classes. I've been to other barre studios and they can get packed. At Gfit you actually have enough room to stretch your legs without kicking your neighbor. Katrina is super sweet but will have your butt shaking within the first few minutes of class. The place is small though. There isn't a locker room, so I change in their bathroom which seems to work. They've got extra mats on hand so you don't need to rent one if you forgot to bring your own. There's also free water. Seems silly, but having a water cooler and cups available is really nice, as I seem to forgot my Nalgene more often than not. read more

I HATE working out and I loathe running, BUT I like results and I like keeping as fit as I am able. That is why GFit is working for me. Like many members, I started out with a 6 week "challenge". I was able to lose almost 10 lbs in 6 weeks! I was a amateur roller derby player and had quit a year and a half before starting GFit...so I was flabby, out of shape and disgusted with myself. I had stopped working out because I was bored and I hated the gym (24 Hour Fitness). I wasn't pushing myself. So after the challenge I signed up as a member for 6 months, and now I am at a year in July. What I like about GFit is that it's one hour out of my day and I'm DONE! I go 4-5 x per week, depending on my work schedule. I want to get my money's worth too! I like the different classes and the range of trainers/instructors. It's almost always a different workout. They are very encouraging even when I want to tell them to F off because the workouts really push you. Now - I have upper body strength I never had playing roller derby, and my agonizing shoulder pain has greatly dissipated with the body weight exercises. Yes, I could do those same exercises at home, but I lack the self motivation! Group exercise is the key that keeps me coming back. read more

Incredible balance between strength training and yoga! I have been a member of GFIT San Diego for 3 years and it has been the most positive choice I have made for my health. I joined with the intention of losing weight but, I had no idea what else I would gain. The trainers and the community of support is incredible. I originally signed up for the 6 week body transformation challenge. It is a program that includes a meal plan and training plan. I lost 12 pounds and inches from my body! In addition to the weight loss, I slept great. I remained a member after the challenge and I enjoy coming to GFIT each week. The classes have a different focus each day (Cardio Core, Upper Body, Total Body, etc.) and the trainers are exceptional! Everyone that attends class is very supportive. Recently, GFIT has merged with Ginseng yoga studio. I can get unlimited yoga and strength training all for one monthly rate. It has been the best fitness balance. I go to GFIT group classes to sweat and gain strength and then I cross the street for restorative yoga and yin yoga with reiki. In addition to these classes, the GFIT trainers also host hiking adventures and picnics on the weekends. The sunrise hikes at Cowls Mt. are the best. This past year, I climbed Mt. Whitney - something I would have never imagined! If you are looking a for gym that is has a wonderful community, great challenges and a diverse weekly class schedule, this is the place for you! read more

I've been a member at GFit for about 8 months now and I love it. Their classes keep me motivated to work out 2-3 times per week. I mainly take Oscar and Amber's classes, but everyone is great -- it just depends on which classes you can make it to. They offer a good selection of early morning to evening class times. Oscar keeps his classes super fun and fresh every time and is always there to offer modifications based on your needs. He quickly learns everyone's capabilities and tailors his workouts so that they're just challenging enough for everyone. After moving to the South Park neighborhood, I was looking for a new gym near home so I could get back in to working out. I heard about the 28 day challenge at GFit and thought it was a great way to get started! I had not worked out in many months so I knew this would truly be a challenge! The challenge started off with an orientation where we learned more about the plan for the following 28 days. The orientation was a great opportunity to meet the other challengers and build comradery. We were given a meal plan and each day we received motivational emails from Oscar who was leading the challenge. Knowing that I had the support of others going through the same process made all the difference. During the 28 days, we were required to also go to classes at least 3 times a week. I found the classes to be excellent. There is a wide variety of classes to choose from, and you can take classes at both Ginseng Yoga and GFit during the challenge. The classes go by so fast and are always different. The instructors do a great job of paying attention to everyones form and also motivating everyone to keep going and to give their all! Each week we were measured and weighed to track our progress. By the end of the challenge I had lost 17 pounds, was down inches and body fat percentage. I was feeling so accomplished, was sleeping better, eating better and working out regularly. Now a month or so after the challenge, I am an unlimited member and I am taking what I learned during the challenge to keep me going so I can reach my long term goals and really to just live a healthier lifestyle. I definitely recommend GFit and Ginseng! The instructors are really awesome, everyone there is always super nice and there is a great community feel that is very welcoming. read more

Such a cool gym! Completely different than any other gym you'll go to. Classes are small and you get GREAT one on one attention. To be honest, I don't think I have ever gotten better results at any other gym . You're in a class but you have an instructor to critique your moments and make sure your form is correct. You never really know what you going to do until you get there which is great because if I knew burpees were on the list, I would probably find an excuse to miss that class. More importantly, Oscar and his team really care about you both in the gym and outside the gym. Gym like no other! I admit like most I am up and down with my commitment to fitness but GFit is inspiring and the staff supports you no matter what. There is always a variety of different classes to attend and weekly challenges that push your body, mind and spirit. I have taken classes with most of the trainers and each one is unique, enthusiastic and more importantly knowledgeable. They encourage you to go at your own speed as every day you feel different but also are by your side to push you to excel past what you could imagine. This place gives you such a fantastic workout. It's in my neighborhood too which makes it extra fantastic. The gym/workout area is new and very clean and everybody is super friendly. They also limit the amount of people per class so it's never too crowded. I've taken the fit classes with both Jules and Whitney and they seriously kick your ass. I've yet to take a class with Oscar because of my schedule but he's friendly and always says hello when he's around the gym. read more

I hate going to the gym, but wanted to start strength training to improve my running. I'm so glad I ended up at GFit! Oscar is great. I love how he tracks your progress each month with the fit tests and body fat measurements. I was always amazed at how much I had improved! You WILL get results here.
