So, you're probably wondering what sort of person reviews a DIY shop well, hopefully I can answer that!
For those of you not familiar with Wickes, they're firmly towards the trade end of the DIY spectrum; they'll help you out if you ask for a screwdriver for example, but might give you some funny looks if you ask for 'one of those with a cross on the end' instead of a Pozidrive.
I went because they're also at the cheaper end for some stuff like timber - I was making some garden planters. Over all, I got everything I needed for much less than the closer Homebase and B&Q.
It's well worth a look at Wickes if you're planning some odd jobs, you'll find some of the less common stuff here, and might save yourself some cash.
