There is an especially good choice of bathrooms and accessories. The staff seem friendly enough and the odd occasion I've needed help they've been pretty good. Homebase has the added advantage of having a loyalty scheme which I don't think the other main players do. I think Homebase does tend to be slightly more expensive than other DIY stores but they also seem to have better offers so it balances out.

The store looks small from the outside but once inside, it is actually quite vast. It might be narrow but the shop is really very long. Despite being in Bexleyheath's busiest part of town, it is surprisingly quiet and you can browse without getting stressed. The queues weren't too long either making for easy shopping. The prices are pretty average, not overly cheap but not too expensive either. There is a "bargain" section at the back but only with a few pounds off each item and it isn't anything to get excited about. Parking is available nearby in Bexleyheath Broadway shopping centre. There's not much which would specifically drive me to Robert Dyas but it is well worth checking out if you are shopping around for goods for the home.

Although not just specialising in kitchenware, Robert Dyas has a good range of cookware and all things associated with cooking and baking, with much more of a selection than either Woolworths of BHS, which are both just across the street. They also have cleaning supplies as well as general hardware items, small cooking appliances, garden accessories and just stuff that one needs in general if one owns a home. This is a very useful store to have and the service is often quite helpful and friendly. It's always a place worth looking into, although it can be a little bit expensive.

Its located on the A4 in the Slough Retail Park which also houses Comet and others and the retail park was recently bought up by the Crown Estates which is the trading arm of the Royal family. I thought they were claiming poverty?! One example of great customer service was when I needed another door that B & Q had been selling. They no longer stocked them but one of the staff rang many different stores until he located one and transferred it over. I had already costed out getting one made and it would have been £300 compared to the £45 at B & Q! This store (and probably B & Q in general) has gone way beyond DIY and sells all sorts of things, but unlike Homebase which has gone all frilly and sells everything you don't need (I couldn't even get a fuse box in Homebase recently) B & Q has retained its core product but has now gone way beyond that whilst still retaining key principles in DIY. The staff are very knowlegable as many are former Tradespersons and nothing is too much trouble. They have often ordered stuff in for me when they haven't had it. I'm sure millions of people on a budget have transformed their homes into little palaces thanks to B & Q. Well worth a visit.

While you could find a lot of the products cheaper elsewhere, there are excellent bargains to be found and the staff are knowledgeable and I've always found them to be friendly and happy to take the time to help you find items.

They've got two floors and you will find more of the smaller screws upstairs. They've got parking at the back which could be quite convenient and a nightmare to get to. There is no parking at the front and be prepared to take a while to get into the car park at the back as traffic in West Norwood can be quite horrific at times.

Oh dear! I think I need to review my review!…read more Today I went back to Leyland SDM to pick up various bits and bobs we needed to fit our new kitchen. The shop IS really well stocked, but for some reason, the staff were terrible today. They were rude, uninterested and one of them suggested the wrong thing for me twice(!) I am so glad I called my other half to check!! As I was paying, I realised they had undercharged me by quite a lot (they wanted £11 instead of £35) I told the man at the till that I think he undercharged me, as I didn't want him to get in trouble. I wish I didn't bother!!* At first he was really touchy and rude about it (!) he then he said he'd give me a £15 discount for being honest (yay!) this turned out to be a 15% off discount, that he didn't manage to work properly...so he only reduced my bill by 81p. Ah well. *If that happens again, I'll keep quiet and be dishonest... as long as my tendency to blush doesn't give me away!!

They also have a paint mixing service and downstairs they also stock bathroom and plumbing accessories, shower heads and radiators. Its really fun to wonder round and look at all the bits and bobs that people need at home. They have buckets or baskets to collect what you need as you tour the shop floor, and if you don't really know what you need, the guys that run the place are friendly and approachable, so even though they look like big men - don't be scared, they really are nice and helpful.
